The State of Ufology

Sheltie

Fratty and out of touch.
That was likely one of the more extreme and far out there type of ufo belief, the cosmic trickster idea, but became quite popular and maybe it still is, I don't know lol...

...
Is that the belief that aliens and ufos are being created by Satan or someone similar to deceive us?

I think it is still popular with some groups. Whitley Strieber is one who talks about that and about the idea that the tricksters are not physical beings, but are able to temporarily become physical. My experiences lead me to believe that there are the physical vehicles that may or may not be military or black ops experiments, the abductions by military or black ops mind experimenters, and the non-physical experiences that a lot of people think have a physical element.

Yeah I forgot about Strieber, he does like that cosmic trickster hypothesis, if it can be called that lol...

Nah, not really satan but non-corporeal being(s), I haven't heard of satan being referenced as the cosmic trickster in ufology but there are some religious folk who think satan is behind the alleged alien visitations, those people think the aliens are really demons in disguise...

If you want to investigate the theory of extraterrestrials as demons or fallen angels you may wish to check out Nick Redfern’s book “Final Events.”

According to Elizondo and some others theres a lot of these people in the US government and their reluctance and outright superstition is why many dont want to even touch the subject. WTF I just ask.

That's an indication to me that we need better more qualified people in the US government if they're allowing superstition to govern their actions or lack there of...

This sort of phrase is probably banned these days but John B Alexander really did sum it all up nicely several years ago - it's about budgets not necessarily good ideas and UFOs have always been a political 'tar baby' to anyone who touches it. Even now.

It would be nice to see some fresher ideas there. In my country theres also this very conservative group still, that cant probably even fathom the idea of aliens. Their universe basically ends at the end of their home field.

Have you noticed that with all this talk about Tic Tac UFOs and a general openness these past few years about the UFO subject that there is one agency that has been tight lipped. That is the US Air Force. You know, the one group charged to defend our air space. Not one peep out of these people. It makes me wonder what is going on and why it was left up to Navy fighter pilots to break this story.

Agreed. But weren't there anecdotal accounts of Air Force officers taking possession of certain materials from the Nimitz incident? I'm doubtful but you never know

Well the US Air Force hasn't been straight with this subject ever since they opted to take the easy way out after the Condon report. Not surprised they continue to be so tight lipped. Suspicious? Sure.

Thought this was a good spot for this - a peek at contemporary ufology. Always been a pot luck soup of personalities and nothing has changed.

I listen to The Black Vault podcast. Not exactly to my taste but I come back to it because John Greenewald is one of those people who has been plugging away for quite some time and has done good work. I've been told he can be a dick on social media - maybe so. But I recently listened to an episode on his podcast plus these two on A Different Perspective.

https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aH...rZXIuY29tL3Nob3cvMjA2OTQyMS9lcGlzb2Rlcy9mZWVk

All are conversations with Anthony Bragalia.

Then today in the background I listened to another Black Vault in which Mick West and Robert Powell had a decent conversation about the Nimitz encounters.

Ep. #73 – Robert Powell and Mick West on The Nimitz UFO Encounter - The Black Vault

Greenewald did a decent job as moderator. Both guests spoke their piece. Mick West probably won the silver loving cup for quiet composure. Powell's case rests on not just witness testimony but a very specific version of a specific piece of testimony. At the very end West says that there are some things that are provable facts that should be verified. To the uninitiated like me who doesn't really follow anybody I asked why that hadn't been done yet - I mean this has been going on for years now.

So go ahead and have a listen. All these are more about classic ufology behavior and personalities than the cases themselves.

The Reasons Why I Yawn at the Words “UFO Disclosure is Coming”
By Nick Redfern

Just a couple of days ago, on Facebook, I was asked when I thought “the aliens” would land and when we would finally get definitive disclosure. Well, first and foremost, we don’t know for sure that the UFO phenomenon is extraterrestrial. Nor do we know that “they” have disclosure on their agenda – even if they have agendas like ours. The fact is that just because the UFO subject is big news now, and with new revelations coming out of government and military agencies, doesn’t necessarily mean that we are going to see ourselves immersed in a real-life The Day the Earth Stood Still scenario. Indeed, I am someone who does not think we’re going to get any big revelations, nor do I believe we’ll have the bodies from the Roswell crash of 1947 paraded for one and all to see. And, in light of that aforementioned Facebook chat, I’ll tell you why I doubt that Disclosure is coming.

First and foremost, we’ve heard all of these “the truth is coming” scenarios time and time again. For example, in 1971 there were whispers that the full story was going to emerge. An anonymous letter was sent to the FBI that read as follows: “In approximately seven months or January, 1972, certain copies of top-secret documents shall be sent to the New York Times as well as two other newspapers. These documents are related to and will be an ostentation of the involvement of the Pentagon in the controversial ‘Unidentified Flying Objects’ or ‘Flying Saucer’ subject. It will show that not only the US Air Force was involved in UFO research but the other military branches as well. Analysis and the actual conclusions of the classic UFO cases shall be revealed. This shall be accomplished by zeroxed [sic] documents and photographs that General Wolfe had reviewed when he was head of the Army’s UFO support program in the Pentagon during the Eisenhower years. Sorry, but it is concluded here that this is the best course to take because we feel that the secret UFO investigations are parallel in nature to the Times-Pentagon-Vietnam controversy. If we are wrong in taking this action, time will tell.” You can see the letter at this link.

disclosure-570x273.jpg

Of course, history has shown that the story didn’t go any further. What could have been the start of Disclosure turned out to be garbage. In the 1980s, when the bogus Majestic 12 documents appeared, there was significant talk that this was all the beginning of a widespread revealing of the UFO truth. In 1952, there were multiple flyovers in the skies of Washington, D.C. by UFOs. The story is a fascinating one. Arguably, an amazing one. Yet, “the aliens” never took things any further. In 1973, there was a huge wave of UFO activity that had many in Ufology suspecting that the truth might be on the horizon. After all, there were some classic cases: the “Captain Coyne” helicopter-based encounter and the Pascaogoula/Hickson-Parker abduction affair were just two classics of many. But, it didn’t go anywhere. When, in 1989 and 1990 there were multiple UFO sightings of the “Black Triangle” type, there were hopes that this was just the beginning. Well, there was no beginning. Now, today, we’re seeing new revelations, claims, photos and footage – and even people in government addressing the UFO subject seriously. But, if we look at earlier years, a solid case can be made that the events of today are not much different to those days of decades long gone.

The fact is that Ufologists here, there and everywhere have been waiting for Disclosure forever. On several occasions it appeared to be on the horizon. But, it never actually managed to get over that same horizon. What happened? I’ll tell you what happened: everything fizzled away until the next big, exciting thing came along. And then that one went away. And so on and so on. Maybe, this time, Disclosure really is looming large. I’ll be amazed and as happy as a pig in shit if it does occur. But, we have to take a look at the history of Ufology. And the fact is that on each and every time it looked like it was coming, Disclosure stalled. Why should things be any different now?

.

Could be the same dance all over again. But don't also forget that there is always the first time, too. I for one have never seen an escalation like this in the mainstream. Perhaps this time it is simply not possible anymore to put the genie back in the bottle.

I hope...

I received an email a couple of days ago from Richard Dolan. On 5/20 he was holding a teleconference for the complete day. It included an “exclusive” interview with Luis Elizondo on UFO Secrecy. The price for a whole day of chatter, a mere $139. They must not have gotten the response they were expecting. I received a “It’s Your Last Chance” email.

If anyone is interested you have 30 days to listen repeatedly for your $139. Just go to Dolan’s website. I’m afraid I will have to pass.
