That's one of those discussions :) A friend and coworker of many years takes jerry cans to other counties that do not have an ethanol mandate for his lawnmowers and old motorcycle.

From my p.o.v I use 87 octane in everything and have no choice but to use E10 - that's all there is. The only thing bad about it is the shelf life is very limited, maybe 6 months. I never let fuel sit in any of my lawn and yard equipment - run it dry before storage. Even when it gets a little stale I just toss a can of Seafoam in there - half can for 5 gallons and it's off to the races. I've had carbs apart on my lawn mowers and tractors and never found any evidence of .... anything really. Clean, rubber lines intact.

The Harley requires 92 octane from the factory so it gets the 93 that's available. It gets stored on fresh fuel with Seafoam and sometimes I even siphon the tank dry at the start of the season just to give of more fresh fuel. It's fuel injected and after 17 years of this is a happy camper.

The 'vette has a .030 over 350 small block in it, old camel hump 2.02 heads. Originally an 11:1 motor that's probably squeaking out a tad more from the overbore. I have no way to easily calculate the compression ratio but it shows a solid 215 psi per cylinder +/- only about 2-3 psi so it's tight as a drum. I'd normally expect to see maybe 180-185 psi per cylinder on the family station wagon. The previous owner - who didn't do the work - spoke of what a horsepower monster the thing was and lamented the lack of 100 octane gas. Because that's what they said to get rid of him. Comparing today's gas with the old stuff is a bit of apples and oranges.

It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong with the thing and in the end - relevant to talking about gas - it was a series of small things that added up that weren't immediately obvious. Timing, vacuum, distributor. So I've got that little pressure cooking cruising perfectly with zero detonation on 93 octane E10. I've been through the Holley 4160 carb and fuel lines, pump, filters more than once for other reasons. I dunno, it's gas, it works and doesn't do anything bad I can tell. I could get 100 octane aviation fuel - from one of the grass strips that those verdammit Hudson Valley Wave UFOs came from - but haven't found the need yet.

I had a brand new Troybilt riding mower a few years ago and used to run an ethanol mix in it, after a while it was running crappy and took it in to be serviced under warranty...The service guy told me to stop using fuel with ethanol because it gums up the carburetor...He said small engines don't burn the fuel hot enough to burn out all the ethanol, sounds legit to me so I've stuck with that premise lol...

Three weeks later my neighbor borrows my new riding mower and blew it up...So now I'm using a used craftsman riding mower I bought which I really like the hydrostatic transmission it has...Anyway I always use 93 octane straight gasoline in the craftsman and haven't had any issues with its fuel combustion...

Yeah I always drain the fuel out when storing for the winter and also remove the cutting blades and battery, then come spring like I did yesterday, I change the oil, air filter put fresh fuel in, charge and install the battery, check tires yada yada and start using it again...That craftsman I have has been a good reliable mower, I think I paid only 400 dollars for it used a few years ago, maybe 500, can't remember lol...

That’s what happens to your sleeping patterns when you get old! I tend to stay up late these days (1pm or later). That is what retirement will do to you. The problem is that staying up late turns into sleeping in every morning. The whole daytime pattern gets out of whack. It’s a bitch trying to get back into a regular groove. I would love to go to sleep at 10pm but I am having trouble sleeping that early now.

Not to change the subject, but here's something wild I found.
I have found 3 hidden message texts inside the grounds of Roslyn Chapel, yes of Dan Brown fame,
a Knights Templar/Catholic/Freemason associated stronghold, and said to know where
the Holy Grail is. They are very clear in their meanings. And they point to a person,
with perhaps some objects associated with this personage.

To make a long story short, using those clues, I traced the location through some caves
in Scotland and Islands of the Hebrides, into Nova Scotia, and then into Iberia, Louisiana, as part of the diaspora of Acadians.

Could the Holy Grail have been brought to America? Are the descendants
now American? Do we have or could there be, a Cajun Christ?

Thought you might get a kick out of this.

I heard a lawn mower running on Saturday. It was my neighbor across the street. He is the first and last to mow for the mowing seasoning in our neighborhood. I hate to start mowing in March. Unfortunately my lazy neighbor next door did his lawn as well. I might have to get out this Friday and bite the bullet.

there's always one, eh?

We had a beautiful day yesterday. I got some yard work done. As for the lawn. I think I will ignore it this year. Eventually I want to replace the part close to the house with a paved patio, and the dog is already digging it up. Puppies love to dig. I will concentrate on my gardens and transplanting trees. I do have to spread the sulphur. I fertilized the fruit trees two weeks ago. The apricot is blooming. The pomegranets need attention though. I guess next weekend it will be their turn.

I am glad I got the roof fixed 3 years ago and replaced all the sky lights. The roof was a big mess. I hope you all can get the leaks fixed. My roof is a flat roof and very hard to maintain using tar paper and gravel so I went with the silicone and it is so much better. White reflects the sun so the whole house is cooler in the summer and the maintenance is easy, the roofers come once a year and clean the roof and fix any cracks. The first year was free and since then it is about 250.00. Well worth it.

Dropped my boys off at school heading for work 10 min later get a call to pick Ian up fighting at school I arrived and found my son in the nurse room black eye cuts bloody nose and bare cheat. His shitrt was in rags. He got there found his friend soon yi being bullied because she was Korean. Seems the bullies got more than they gave.
He earned 7 days back to virtual learning and my respect for standing up for a girl he likes. And the comment "your boy is a beast " from the principal.

But what about the bullies? Did they get sent home as well?

My grandson went through something similar when he was in kindergarten against 3 second graders (he was standing up to bullies for himself though). He broke one of the bullies glasses. It happened after school in the care program for working parents. The organization expected my daughter to pay for the glasses and punish my grandson but when she found out it was 3 2cnd graders against one kindergartener she told them the parents of those boys needed to call her. In 1st grade two of the boys then in 3rd grade got caught pushing my grandson and he stood up for himself but the staff admitted that those boys were problems. It is so weird that bullys get away with it even when their targets try to defend themselves. It makes me think that either the bullys are encouraged or the staff are really really stupid.

They are 100% suspended from school with possible hearings on being expelled. They were blaming covid on her and other Asian girls. I don't care my son was removed for seven days. He did the right thing.

I agree, your son did the right thing. I'm glad that the bullies are suspended.

Keep in mind my son has been on a big kick to bulk up for baseball and to join the USMC in 5 years. He kicked their butts total 3 kids his age. It was impressive. And well worth it.

Had a really rough night last night sleeping or lack there of, however during the day today it caught up to me and I slept the afternoon away lol..My sleep patterns are about the only thing that's still not quite settled back to normal since being ill, some nights I'll get a 6 to 8 hour sleep and other nights just a few hours, less than 6 hours...

Went to the local auto parts store and purchased a car cover for my car, we had a severe thunderstorm a few days ago the produced hail, although small...My car is out in the weather in my driveway, I don't have a garage nor anything to park it under and the forecast tomorrow is another severe thunderstorm with likely hail...So the car cover is fairly thick and should protect my car feom any hail damage if hail does come tomorrow...

Roof repairs can be very expensive, if you're paying 250 a year for roof maintenance I'd say that's a pretty good deal...Its no different than having annual heating and cooling system maintenance...

Gasoline prices have been steadily rising lately, at least in my area...Last weekend I paid $2.84 per gallon for 93 octane, but today the price is $3.20 and midgrade 89 octane gasoline has risen 18 cents to $2.76 per gallon...

Hey @August recently you posted an old CCR song 'It came Out of the Sky' (at least I'm pretty sure it was you....)

I never heard it before so I bought it. Passed it along to a young guy I work with. He has a garage band with his buddy who also works with me. A couple of doofy kids but I overheard them talking privately and would not doubt that they'll be inflicting their version some time soon.

Connections, right? Tasmania to New York to a couple of teenage kids that like 'classic music' :)
