Re: the bees. It is spring. Bees swarm and when they swarm like that they don't pay much attention to people. The bee guy easily got the swarm out of the car and he now has a new hive. When I was a teenager I came home from school to a big drama because the woman who took care of the kennel and lived in a trailer behind the house was in an apoplectic fit over a swarm of bees in a tree behind her trailer (about 20 feet from the trailer). She was deathly afraid of bees and some other things. She had called my dad and he was driving back from town to take care of the bees. He had a spare bee hive so he just got them in the hive and put it with the other bees.

Living behind our house was stressful for the woman, who was a dear friend. She left her back door open while she was cleaning and the mule came in and since she was standing in the hall screaming (also afraid of horses et al) the mule got scared and ran into the tiny bedroom. The call my dad got that day was a hysterical "The mule is jumping on my bed!" Poor mule was still a colt and did not understand because she was raised with a litter of puppies (big dogs) and still thought she was a dog.

Deliveroo April Fools' joke backfires in France

French Deliveroo customers who received fake bills for hundreds of euros' worth of pizza have failed to see the funny side of the April Fools' joke.

On 1 April thousands of customers of the delivery platform across France got confirmation emails for orders totalling over €450 (£380; $530).

Many took to social media to express anger at the stunt.

Late on Thursday Deliveroo informed its customers via Twitter and email that it had not been serious.

"We confirm that it was an April Fool's joke," the clarification read. "You can enjoy the evening by ordering the pizza of your choice."

But few customers were amused. One of them said he had "almost had a stroke" after receiving a €466 invoice for 38 pizzas that he had never ordered.

Georgia man receives last paycheck in oily pennies dumped on his driveway

A Georgia man who was having trouble getting the last paycheck from his employer was shocked to discover its equivalent in pennies dumped in his driveway earlier this month. Fayetteville's Andreas Flaten had quit his job at Peachtree City's A OK Walker Luxury Autoworks in November 2020.

He told local WGCL-TV he had been at the automotive repair shop for a year -- and had known his boss Miles Walker for eight years -- but that "toxic" working conditions had taken a "toll" on him. He gave his two-weeks notice, writing a letter of resignation to Walker who reportedly promised Flaten's final $915 check would be paid to him in January.

But, come January, the check never arrived and Flaten said his former boss accused him of damages. He even called Georgia's Department of Labor for assistance in the matter, without much luck.

Months later, Flaten and his girlfriend, Olivia Oxley, were leaving his house when he noticed something at the end of his driveway: more than 91,000 oil or grease-covered pennies and an envelope with his final pay stub that was addressed with an explicit message: "F--- you!"

View attachment 13833

The pennies weigh more than 500 pounds in total, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, breaking the wheels of Flaten's wheelbarrow.

Dismayed by the incident, Oxley took to social media with videos of the scene, writing on Facebook that "no one like that deserves to have [a] successful business."

Flaten called the move "childish" and noted that cleaning the pennies was "going to be a lot of work" for money he had already earned.

Now, his nights are spent cleaning the coins for hours at a time in order to be able to cash them in.

Oxley declined to comment to Fox News on Thursday, explaining that the pair would be focusing their energy on finding resources to be able to get a "real payment" for Flaten's final check.

Walker declined to comment.

Walker spoke with WGCL-TV briefly, stating he didn’t know if he did or didn’t drop the pennies off at Flaten’s house.

"I don’t really remember," Walker told the TV station. "It doesn’t matter he got paid, that’s all that matters."

Walker went on to call Flaten a "weenie."

Coinstar fixes Georgia man's oily penny paycheck problem

A Georgia man that was shocked to find the amount of his final paycheck in the form of pennies dumped in his driveway last month is getting some help from coin-counting company Coinstar. Fayetteville's Andreas Flaten had quit his job at Peachtree City's A OK Walker Luxury Autoworks in November and was having some trouble getting his last paycheck from his former employer.

Although he had reportedly been promised his $915 check would be paid to him in January, the check never arrived and Flaten said his former boss accused him of damages. Flaten, who had gone so far as to call Georgia's Department of Labor for assistance, was surprised when he discovered more than 91,000 oil or grease-covered pennies in front of his house. An envelope resting on top of the pile contained his final pay stub and was addressed with an explicit message: "F--- you!" Since then, Flaten has spent nights cleaning the pennies, which
FOX 5 Atlanta said sat in a wheelbarrow in his garage. Flaten and his girlfriend had previously refused to comment to Fox News, saying they were focusing on getting a "real payment" for Flaten's final check.

Coinstar took up the mantle and picked up the more than 500 pounds of pennies from Flaten on Thursday.

The company pointed Fox News to a release in which it wrote that it also rounded up Flaten's paycheck to $1,000.

"When we heard about Mr. Flaten’s penny problem, we were happy to offer our assistance," said Coinstar CEO Jim Gaherity. "Coinstar has been in the coin business for 30 years and we process approximately 41 billion coins annually – so picking up 91,000 pennies was all in a day’s work."

"I was spending an hour or two a night trying to clean the pennies and probably only cleaned off about $5 worth," Flaten told Coinstar. "I was so relieved and grateful that Coinstar agreed to help me."

In addition, company executives announced that they would match Flaten's penny value and donate $1,000 to local charities of his choosing. Flaten named two Atlanta-area animal shelters to receive the donations.

"I gave the money to Royal Animal Refuge and TLC Pet Rescue. One saved my dog and one saved my mother's dog," Flaten told Fox News in an email on Friday.

Now that his nights are free, he plans on spending time with his family.

No that was people being covered in bees and then hung in a warehouse or something, covered in honey or bees wax or something.

Did Mulders sister not have something to do with bees too?

Just the first thing that popped into my head when I seen this lol

I don't remember watching very many episodes with the sister I was kind of disappointed with it after the 3rd season.

At the time, it was outstanding. The perfect counterpart to Art Bell.

But since then, it seems dated to me; I'm not sure why. Admittedly, there are few shows that I rewatch. But it may also be that it is so perfectly wedded to the conspiracy theories and notions of the paranormal of the 90s. As I said, it fit Art Bell's Coast to Coast like a glove.

The early episodes were good. Any episodes involving the overall 'story arc' are generally not very good. The season three episode "Syzygy", even though it was not a story arc episode, jumped the shark, as they say. This became a regular occurrence from then on, much to the series' detriment.

It was great the first two seasons. When they brought in the big blonde thugs and the smoking man started appearing and manipulating everything I didn't enjoy it as much. I tried to watch the reboot and it was so awful, in fact it was almost funny it was so bad.

I found out from my cousin, who is a television writer, that shows rarely keep the same writers after season two because if a writer gets picked up for a third and any subsequent season they get residuals, which cuts back on the producer's residual take. That is why Lost lost it's balance and focus after season two in my opinion. The same thing probably happened to X-Files.

Bizarre masked character frightening people in South Carolina neighborhood after dark

A character straight out of a horror movie is terrifying people in one South Carolina neighborhood — and now police say they are launching an official investigation into the “suspicious activity.”

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office shared a creepy surveillance photo of its suspect Tuesday, fueling social media talk of The Slender Man, a supernatural character known for having a blank white face. Like the Slender Man, the image shows someone in a mask with no facial features — other than holes for eyes and nostrils.

The photo was taken March 24 outside a home in the Sumter’s Meadowcroft Subdivision, the sheriff’s office told McClatchy News, and it “scared the residents in the house.” The area is about 40 miles east of Columbia.

No crime has been reported, adding to the mystery of what the suspect was doing that night on Caitlynn Drive. The case is being investigating as “suspicious activity” that is frightening people.

Slender Man is an urban myth — like Bigfoot and the devil dog Chupacabra — with a backstory credited to “Photoshop pranksters” on social media, according to Techcrunch.com.

“The Slender Man is probably the most popular modern urban myth. He’s like an online boogeyman,” BuzzFeed reports. “The Slender Man is often described as a tall faceless black-and-white figure, sometimes with tentacles, who can make people who see him go crazy and lose their memory.”

The photo shared by Sumter County officials has racked up 1,300 shares and nearly 500 comments since being posted March 30, some from people who admitted to being scared by what they saw.

Many suggested it was a bad practical joke, while others said the suspect’s eyes were “too big to be human” and the skin “looks mummified.” The suspect has been labeled everything from a stalker to a member of the Ku Klux Klan.

Man Freaks Out After He Notices Face In Washing Machine Staring At Him

A man 'nearly had a heart attack' when he noticed a face looking at him from his washing machine door.

The Twitter user, who goes by the name Alex, spotted the creepy-looking face staring at him through the glass after he'd put a wash on, and shared the photo with his followers.

He wrote: "Forgot I'd washed the dog's blanket and David Bowie cushion. Nearly just had a heart attack." Well, there we go - thankfully, he hadn't actually trapped another person in his washer, it was just David Bowie looking back at him.

Inevitably, people loved the hilarious snap.

One social media user said: "Pretty sure Bowie would've loved this, probably used it on an album cover..." Another joked: "Put on a hot wash, and dance the blues." A third person wrote: "If this is Bowie, why is my brain seeing Bryan Cranston? That's all I can see tbh."

Well, whether it reminds you more of Ziggy Stardust or Walter White, at least it's just a cushion.

‘Haunted Victorian child’ dog goes viral with adoption post

‘Haunted Victorian child’ dog goes viral with hilarious adoption post

A 2-year-old rescue dog in New Jersey has gone viral after his foster parent penned a hilarious honest description of what to expect from the “demonic” pooch.

Tyfanee Fortuna, who is fostering the 13-pound Chihuahua named Prancer, wrote on Facebook last week that she’s tried for months to make the pup sound “palatable” to potential adopters.

“The problem is, he’s just not. There’s not a very big market for neurotic, man hating, animal hating, children hating dogs that look like gremlins,” she wrote on Facebook.

“But I have to believe there’s someone out there for Prancer, because I am tired and so is my family. Every day we live in the grips of the demonic Chihuahua hellscape he has created in our home.”

Fontuna went on to describe Prancer as being the embodiment of the Chihuahua meme that refers to the breed as “50% hate and 50% tremble.”

“If you’re intrigued and horrified at how this animal sounds already, just wait….there’s more. Prancer came to me obese, wearing a cashmere sweater, with a bacon egg n cheese stuffed in his crate with him. I should have known in that moment this dog would be a problem,” she said.

Fontuna said the dog had been previously owned by an elderly woman “who treated him like a human and never socialized with him.”

When he first came to stay with her family, Prance was “too terrified to have a personality,” she said.

“As awful as it sounds, I kind of liked him better that way,” she said.

“I was excited to see him come out of his shell and become a real dog. I am convinced at this point he is not a real dog, but more like a vessel for a traumatized Victorian child that now haunts our home,” she continued.

She said Prancer has never been around any children and only likes women.

“He hates men more than women do, which says a lot. If you have a husband don’t bother applying, unless you hate him,” she wrote.

The small pooch also doesn’t take well to other pets.

“Have other dogs? Cats? Don’t apply unless they like being shaken up like a ragdoll by a 13lb rage machine,” she said.

Despite the pup’s faults, Fontuna acknowledged that he did have some good traits.

“He likes to go for car rides, he is housebroken, he knows a few basic commands, he is quiet and non destructive when left alone at home, and even though we call him bologna face he is kind of cute to look at,” she said.

She said she understands that finding someone “who wants a chucky doll in a dogs body is hard, but encouraged anyone to apply for him if they’ve always wanted their own “haunted Victorian child in the body of a small dog that hates men and children.”

“Oh, also he’s only 2yrs old and will probably live to be 21 through pure spite, so take that into account if you’re interested,” she added.
