Spidey's Back! Third Spider-Man Film to be Produced by Marvel Set to Hit Theaters in 2021

Not all goodbyes are permanent.

Sony Pictures announced a third Spider-Man film will be produced by Disney’s Marvel Studios after all, weeks after the two powerhouse studios couldn’t reach an agreement for Tom Holland’s fan-favorite superhero to remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is set to hit theaters in 2021, with Marvel president Kevin Feige once again stepping in as producer.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige said in a statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Last month, news broke that Disney would be ending its partnership with Sony Pictures on the Spider-Man franchise, thanks to a disagreement over co-financing. Sony owns the film rights to the iconic superhero, and several years ago, the studios struck a deal: Feige would help produce Sony’s solo Spider-Man films, allowing Holland’s Spidey to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

Spider-Man: Far From Home (which has now become Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time with $1.11 billion worldwide), Disney reportedly asked to share co-financing on future Spider-Man solo films, while Sony wanted the financing arrangement to remain the same as it had been.' After the release of this summer’s Spider-Man: Far From Home (which has now become Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time with $1.11 billion worldwide), Disney reportedly asked to share co-financing on future Spider-Man solo films, while Sony wanted the financing arrangement to remain the same as it had been.

It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

I wonder how this movie will start off, now that I've seen the last spiderman movies, far from home...I don't want to give a spoiler away in the ending credits scene...

Spiderman watches on the big screen television as the Daily Bugle announces that spiderman's real name is Peter Parker, the whole world knows now, or seemingly knows now, I wonder how this movie will pick up on that or is his identity a non-issue now?...

'Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Will De-Age Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock

e4cb1d03a93760171ba53fc2539f29a6

Alfred Molina has not only confirmed that his “Doc Ock” aka as Otto Octavius, will return after 17 years to “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” but that the film will de-age him to match “the moment” he died in the “Spider-Man 2,” according to an interview in Variety.

Molina, who is 67, had “practical” concerns about the physicality of the role since he has aged since the 2004 superhero film.

“‘Did you see what we did to Bob Downey Jr. and Sam Jackson?'” “Spider-Man” director Jon Watts told Molina.

Marvel Studios de-aged Robert Downey Jr. to appear the way he did in 1991 in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” and Sam Jackson was de-aged to play a younger version of his character, Nick Fury, set in the 1990s in 2019’s “Captain Marvel.”

Molina last appeared as Doctor Octopus in 2004’s “Spider-Man 2” from director Sam Raimi. The film is considered one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.

This is perhaps the biggest sign that “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” starring Holland as the wall-crawler, will be a huge “Spider-Verse” movie that brings back previous Spider-Man actors and villains. Jamie Foxx is set to reprise his role as Spider-Man villain Electro in “Spider-Man 3;” the actor played the character in the 2014 “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which starred Andrew Garfield before the character was brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The question now remains will Andrew Garfield and especially Tobey Maguire reprise their roles as the Spider-Men from their previous films? Reps for both actors, along with Marvel Studios, and Sony didn’t respond to numerous requests for comment.

Sony has dated the third film for Dec. 17, 2021 . Jon Watts, who directed “Homecoming” and 2019’s “Far From Home,” is also directing “No Way Home.”

The most recent Spider-Man film, “Far From Home,” brought back another popular character from a previous iteration of the franchise, having J.K. Simmons reprise his role as J. Jonah Jameson from the original trilogy of films with Tobey Maguire.

Other franchise regulars, including Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and Tony Revolori, will likewise return for the sequel. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the third film in the franchise.

Alfred Molina Is Probably In Marvel Jail After Spoiling 'Spider-Man' Sequel

In true villain form, Alfred Molina has essentially spoiled the plot of the upcoming “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

Disregarding Marvel’s web of nondisclosure agreements that keep its stars sworn to secrecy, the actor confirmed that he will be reprising his role as the tentacled baddie Doctor Octopus, aka Doc Ock, in the Tom Holland-led sequel 17 years after he first played the role.

“When we were shooting it, we were all under orders not to talk about it, because it was supposed to be some great big secret,” Molina told Variety in an interview published Friday. “But, you know, it’s all over the internet. I actually described myself as the worst kept secret in Hollywood!”

Reports claimed last year that Molina, who first faced off against Toby Maguire’s web-slinger in 2004’s “Spider-Man 2,” was set to make his return to the franchise in a super-sized, multiverse-melding crossover.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige and reigning Spider-Man Tom Holland have since kept quiet on rumors of past characters making appearances in the superhero blockbuster, which is due to hit theaters in December.

This might be the biggest ‘Spider-Man 3’ spoiler yet, and we can’t believe it

(Excerpt) (more on the link)

Just a few days ago, a Spider-Man 3 plot leak from a source who accurately revealed the identity of that the mysterious Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 5 cameo told us that the film will deliver a heartbreaking event. And now, subsequent leaks may reveal what that event is. Note that massive spoilers might follow, so stop reading now if you want to be surprised come Christmas.

The No Way Home plot leak from a few days ago indicated that a main character will die in the film — here’s the relevant part:

Goblin kills someone major (This person is not sure on who it is) but Tom Holland’s Peter was crying and enraged.

He tries to kill the Green Goblin but wasn’t successful in doing so in the end.

Movie ends with Peter finishing high school. (Not clear on what happened to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.)

The character has to be quite important for Peter to get enraged to the point where he’d want to kill someone. This is a side of Peter that we’ve yet to explore, but it’s certainly one that wouldn’t be surprising to see — he did kill plenty of Thanos’s thugs in Endgame. Peter is growing up and he has experienced more loss than most other people his age. He’s been through the blip and had to fight for his life in Endgame. Losing yet another close friend would certainly fuel that sort of rage.

We’ve seen Marvel explore the same theme a few times in the past. Iron Man in Civil War, Thor and Hawkeye in Endgame, Wanda in Endgame and WandaVision, and Walker’s Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are a few relevant examples. These are heroic characters who let rage consume them to the point where they were prepared to kill.

The question is, whose death could impact Peter in such a manner?
