How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I never did linger around stores to browse. I have always hated shopping. We are in lock down again and so is Ontario. But before we went into this second lock down, I recall 2 recent occasions where I forgot and left my mask in the front seat of the car. I was really embarrassed because it's not like this is new and I'm not used to wearing it when I go out. Yet, on both occasions I was stopped at the door and given masks. One was one of those face shields and the other a blue mask. That was at Costco and at Walmart.

I would hate to be the minimum wage employee who has to confront someone without a mask.
Yeah ..... me too. People on both sides can be such assholes. If I can wear a mask 8 hours a day so can anyone who needs to shop for a few minutes. Note that in food stores people comply. Anywhere else is fair game for stupidity

I don’t care what anyone’s opinion. Two big signs you walk past to get in say they’re mandatory. They’ll give you a free mask. And yet ......

Early on, maybe last May, my friend and I went to the grocery store and I was standing next to her while she compared prices on something she wanted. There was a man in the same aisle about 6 feet away looking at something. My friend said "I thought you couldn't get into this store without a mask." She was looking at the man but my back was turned to him, I didn't know why she said it, but my response was "You aren't supposed to. Everyone should be wearing a mask." Then my friend told a story about her experience the day before at a dollar store where secuity had to chase away some teenagers without masks. Then I moved and saw the man standing holding a box of something with his back to us. He didn't have a mask and he didn't move the whole time we spent in that aisle. I guess he did not want to mess with two loud old ladies. So weird. The store we were in had people at the front door making sure everyone had a mask and handing out masks to anyone who did not have one. I am wondering if he got a mask and then took it off as soon as he got in the door.

Six people out of Seven million is a percentage of 0.00008571 which isn't much of a risk if the blood clots are associated with the J&J vaccine compared to the risk of what Covid-19 has to offer...

So 0.0000857 percent of people who got the J&J shot get a blood clot, without knowing the reasons they assume the cause is J&J and halt vaccinations...

Now we have 0.00878 percent of people who are fully vaccinated getting sick with Covid with 74 of them dying and they have not determined which vaccines those sick people have received and and have not determined which vaccine the 74 dead people received and have not halted vaccinations...Seems legit...

...

Nearly 6K fully vaccinated Americans got COVID-19 – out of 66M: CDC

Approximately 5,800 fully vaccinated Americans — out of 66 million who received the shots — still became infected with COVID-19, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data reported Thursday.

The infections, dubbed breakthrough cases — or positive test results that occur at least two weeks after a person gets their final coronavirus vaccine dose — represents about 0.008 percent of Americans who are fully vaccinated, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The federal agency found 29 percent of breakthrough infections were asymptomatic, while 7 percent led to hospitalization. So far, 74 people have died from breakthrough infections — but it’s not clear which vaccine they received, if the patients came from high-risk groups or if there were any other circumstances contributing to the deaths.

No more vaccinations for me, this whole process and program of Covid vaccinations has revealed itself to be completely disingenuous and too politically driven for my taste...If they come along and say we need booster shots over the next few years or they say I have to be re-vaccinated because the J&J isn't effective enough or whatever reason, I will not be vaccinated again period...I'm done no matter the outcome, I'm done...

You know it will be just like the flu vaccine, expected to be given every year based on mutations or extrapolation of the most likely mutation. I have never had a flu shot and if I don't get a covid shot because of the corporate war that keeps me from getting a J&J brand I will never get a covid shot either.

I've never done a flu shot either and if a covid shot becomes annual like the flu shot they can keep it, I won't do it...

Blood clots as prevalent with Pfizer and Moderna vaccine as with AstraZeneca's: study

A study by Oxford University found the number of people who receive blood clots after getting vaccinated with a coronavirus vaccine are about the same for those who get Pfizer PFE, 2.83% and Moderna MRNA, 6.78% vaccines as they are for the AstraZeneca AZN, -0.15% vaccine that was produced with the university's help. According to the study, 4 in 1 million people experience cerebral venous thrombosis after getting the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, versus 5 in 1 million people for the AstraZeneca vaccine. The risk of getting CVT is much higher for those who get COVID-19 -- 39 in a million patients -- than it is for those who get vaccinated. AstraZeneca's vaccine use has been halted or limited in many countries on blood clot concerns.

J&J COVID-19 vaccine pause to be reviewed by U.S. panel next week

(Reuters) - A U.S. panel will meet again next week to discuss whether the pause on the use of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine should continue, after delaying a vote on the matter earlier this week.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advisory panel will meet on April 23, a top U.S. health official said on Friday.

The continued pause "will allow additional time to review any additional cases that might come in, and for (the panel) to conduct a complete risk assessment and to evaluate the emerging science," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said during a Friday news conference.

Back in the good old days you just dipped a pin or something into a nasty pustule and then poked yourself under the fingernail with it. If I remember 6th grade right, and who knows about that, Martha Washington was a big proponent of exactly that during a smallpox epidemic and suffered backlash from political and religious quarters. For context, it was common practice to abandon large cities like Philadelphia during summer months because of rampant disease and contagion from the filth. Self isolation and even mask wearing wasn't uncommon - but I think the masks had more to do with the funk than anything else.

Go find some nasty dipping pustules, go lick some doorknobs or something. Get sick and get it over with already. Lyme disease felt worse for a lot longer, chickenpox at 16 was an order of magnitude worse. Join the herd. Hopefully it won't kill you.

The first smallpox vaccine (and the first vaccine, for that matter) was discovered in 1796. Vaccination is not exactly a newfangled idea.

The safest way to 'get sick and get it over with' is to get vaccinated. This confers the least risk both to you and to those around you.

I am aware of that and all things being equal maybe so. Too much bad noise surrounding these vaccines plus I already got the damned virus anyway.

Have to agree with Bill on this one...

I am dealing with someone right now who is morbidly obese and in utter denial. It has taken every problem he has had and magnified it tremendously. The bill for this behavior has arrived and it isn't pretty. It literally cost him a good chunk of his his life and he'll never see it. And he's still asking for KFC.

What do you think the effect on our national healthcare system would be if we could snap our fingers and eliminate obesity overnight?

Right on Bill.

It is the next day after I received my second Moderna shot. Last evening, other than my upper right arm aching, I felt fine. Tuesday morning I woke up and felt super tired. I did get up and get a shower. Then it was back to sleep for about four hours. I seem to be coming around now. Considering what others have gone through I feel lucky that all went well.

How are you feeling now?...Back to normal?...

Yes, I am back to what I call normal, the same with my wife. It was tiredness for a day and a half and pain at the injection site for two days or so. Most of those that I know that have gotten the shot(s) have reported minimum problems afterwards.

My one concern is that I am now reading that the population made need a “booster” shot every so often. That is not for my wife and me. Either this works from the get-go or it doesn’t.

Fauci says he expects J&J vaccine to resume later this week

The United States will likely move to resume Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine this coming week, possibly with restrictions or broader warnings after reports of some very rare blood clot cases, the government’s top infectious diseases expert said Sunday.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, in a series of news show interviews, said he expects a decision when advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention meet Friday to discuss the pause in J&J’s single-dose vaccine.

“I would be very surprised if we don’t have a resumption in some form by Friday,” he said. "I don’t really anticipate that they’re going to want it stretch it out a bit longer.”

Fauci, who is President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, said he believed that federal regulators could bring the shots back with restrictions based on age or gender or with a blanket warning, so that it is administered in a way “a little bit different than we were before the pause.”

Coronavirus-Denier Ted Nugent Tests Positive For COVID-19: 'I Thought I Was Dying'

Rock musician Ted Nugent announced he has tested positive for the coronavirus in a Facebook live video in which he repeatedly used racist slurs to refer to COVID-19, spit on the floor and promoted anti-vaccine conspiracy theories.

“Everybody told me that I should not announce this,” the conservative rocker said in the video on Monday.

Nugent, a staunch supporter of ex-President Donald Trump, previously called the pandemic a scam and has railed against public health restrictions.

“I have had flu symptoms for the last 10 days. I thought I was dying. I mean, just a cluster****,” Nugent said in the video. “I got the Chinese s***.”

Nugent said he had a “stuffed-up head” and “body aches.”

“My God, what a pain in the ass. I literally can hardly crawl out of bed the last few days. But I did, I crawled,” he said.
