Here's some pictures of my garden this season just gettimg started, I've run the deer netting around the perimeter and laced white twine around the top so it can be visible lol...The netting wasn't difficult to hang, it was time consuming though, the garden is about 28 feet wide and 60 feet long, took almost 4 hrs to run the netting and zip tie it to the posts...I was a little short of netting, I bought 150 ft and should have bought 200 ft, so on the back side I filled in the shortage with chicken wire, you can see it on the right side of a couple of the pics below...The last pic is the watermelon patch on the back side of the garden nearest to the woods, the mounds on each end is where the plants will grow and vine towards the center, which at the center you see another mound, it has mammoth sunflowers growing from there...So far I have planted yellow corn, two kinds of green beans, four kinds of tomatoes, three kinds of peppers from hot to sweet, broccoli, and watermelon...I still have room to grow more, going to look through my seeds in the morning and decide...

My garden is random boxes and pots scattered around the back of the yard. I still have a lot of work to do on the back yard. I have melons doing well and tomoatos. I planted seeds last week that have not come up yet. My onions are doing well, I have had the onion garden for years.

My friend is coming over in a bit, bringing her chainsaw to help me cut down some elm trees that the wind blew over. I want to get rid of all the elm trees. None of them were planted, just volunteered in places I have not gotten to for landscaping yet. Some of them are 10 years old and those trees grow really fast.

We are going to have a contest to see which old lady can get her chain saw started first.

Neither of us could get our chain saw started. I gave up and my friend decided to try to start mine. She was successful after about 10 minutes so I called her the winner. We got all the elm trees cut down. Some of them will make good poles or posts. Tall and straight. Now I just have to work on breaking down the branches and getting them to the compost pile. Some of it will go to the wood pile I have for aging firewood. My friend took some to make in to bowls and things. She does wood turning.

Two stroke small engines can be a pain in the arse just to get them started sometimes, I don't know if there's a four stroke chain saw but I bought a four stroke weedeater and it never gives me any troubles, not like the two stroke one I used to have...I was going to take the two stroke weedeater to goodwill but my neighbor wanted it so I gave it to him...

Well, while we're on string trimmers I got me a nice 4-stroke and no bump head. Instead it's a flat head and you just stick about a foot of line at a time through holes in it. I can do a lot of buzzing and only use a couple of them. Bump heads are the Devil's Business I say.

I look forward to retiring and being in that state, not needing to know what day it is.

Thats the type I have, no bump, just threading a short piece through the cutting end, mine's a Troybilt brand...

It's been a busy morning, doing chores around the house outside, tending to the garden, mowing the property, washed and waxed the car, and leveled my utility shed...The ground on the right side of my shed has been slightly sinking since I added more soil there...Anyway, all my outside chores are done, I'm drinking a beer at the moment, the first alcohol I've drank since November last year lol...Stella Artois is what I'm drinking...

I keep a pair of binoculars at the kitchen table so we can peek at Mother Raccoon who has a nest about twenty feet up a rotted tree out back. We dubbed her Laverne. Yesterday she had her two babies out and gave them a good bath and then shoved them back in their hole for baby raccoon bed time. Doesn't get much cuter than that. She's too wary for me to get a close shot. We named her two babies Lenny and Squiggy.

Random thoughts.

Lucifer will be back next week and I am waiting patiently. I'd like to see Dr. Linda have an office mate and I'd like it to be Bob Newhart (before he became 200 years old). I mean, take that classic office with Marsha the secretary and Jerry the wacky dentist and add an office for Dr.Linda and of course, Old Scratch , angels, demons, goddesses etc. Just saying.

(and yes, that's Edna Krabappel)

Also thinking of taking the bike out and maybe cruise over to my local Bigfoot Research Organization a.k.a a bait shop up in Red Hook. I'm kind of curious but already sort of know what I'm looking at. I really wish there was some local organization that would do cool stuff like that, vet sighting reports (of anything). George Carlin said you should start a path. Someone has to. Takes time, gotta hold the grass down yourself at first. Maybe I should start one. How the hell do you do that?

Fratty and out of touch.
Two days of perfect weather and I got the decks stained. The Home Depot stuff for $30/gallon came out nice if not nicer looking that the Cabot stuff for $52/gallon. They are both latex because you can't buy the oil based stuff around here easily anymore. Spent 4-5 hours each day, very tedious. Takes 2.5 gallons

At one time a nice deck with a semi-transparent wood stain was in. I used a solid color redwood because the decks are far from new. Now it's all about composite decking, vinyl sleeves for posts and railing systems, hidden fasteners and subtle LED lighting. Two days worth of work and I decided it looks perfect - and dated.

But same chair, same ass, same can of beer and I don't care ...... check this one off this list for another two years

I've always powerwashed and treated my deck about every 3 years. It's over 30 years old now (installed by the previous owner) and it's finally to the point where it needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, prices are higher than ever and contractors are busier than ever.

My daughters mom Lashawna died awhile back, and yesterday was her birthday, and her mom made us a big enchilada casserole, actually she made like 4-5 of them, so i have been so stuffed since she dropped it off. Not wanting to do nothing, just relaxing like stuffed lion.
