How is The Coronavirus affecting your life?

I hope he feels better soon. My theory is that the people who have sever symptoms from the vaccine probably have a weak immune system. I think that is why I got the symptoms. I have been isolated for a year and a half with very little interaction even with my daughter and grandson.
I think it's the opposite. The side effects are reportedly worse for younger people, and younger people have stronger immune systems.

Younger people more likely to react to vaccines - why there's no need to worry | ITV News

I had a strong reaction to the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, at age 36, that left me bedridden for 24 hours.

The friend I've mentioned is 42 years old, I'm 56 years old and had less reaction to the same J&J vaccine than he did...Also I got the J&J vaccine 10 days after recovering from that 'unknown' illness that kept me sick for over 4 weeks and hospitalized me...

I did wear a mask today going into the Walgreens store because I went to their pharmacy to pick up medication for my mother...North Carolina still requires everyone, vaccinated or not, to wear masks in hospitals, pharmacies, and anywhere near the medical and medicine supply sections in the stores...

I don't think age has any thing to do with how severe if at all someone gets symptoms. I will be 65 next week. My 18 year old grandson got the J&J vaccine too and had similar symptoms but he recovered more quickly than I did.

With no announcement I am aware of it seems the mask mandate got dropped or is about to here in NY. The vaccines are commonly available as walk ins which we're hoping to do later today at the supermarket. If this lets me get back to the gym normally I'm all for it, just hoping for few or no side effects.

Same supermarket that we went into a little over a year ago like Andromeda Strain when we were hosing everything down with disinfectant and weaving and dodging because nobody needed to tell us to stay away from other people.

You can think what you want. There is, however, observational evidence that the side-effects correlate with previous Covid infection, younger age, and female sex (women generally have stronger immunity than men, which is likely something to do with it).

DEFINE_ME
Headache and fatigue were more common in women than in men, in people aged 55 years or younger than in people older than 55 years, and after the second than after the first dose. Individuals with known past SARS-CoV-2 infection were more likely to have adverse effects after the first dose than were those without known past infection.

Went to the local supermarket we shop at. no appointment, got shot #1 within 20 minutes. Vaccine du jour is Moderna.

No ill effects of any kind for my wife and I. We'll see.

So now people are claiming that there were no flu cases in 2020 & 2021 because Covid is really the flu and we have been duped. I don't know where people get these ideas. And I am sure the flu is not completely gone either like some claim.

The few times in my life I have gotten the flu or what I thought was the flu I have not gone to a doctor, just stayed in bed until I got over it. Once, the year the H1N1 was supposed to be so bad, I did get tested for the flu & H1N1 but I had some other respiratory virus. I only did that because I had a boss that wanted a doctors note if we were out more than 2 days. So, why bother. I don't think I am unusual in that. But because of the lock down and me needing to travel I did get tested for Covid 19 twice. Both times negative.

This is the current vaccination estimates for the US, looks like by the end of next month half the country will be vaccinated..So perhaps by Christmas this pandemic will be completely over for us in America...

Plague over. No official announcement but I'd say about 40% of people I saw in Home Depot had no masks. They're not even enforcing it for employees - everyone under the age of 25 dropped the them instantly. Used to be the supermarkets were the one place people generally didn't F around in about masks and I see that's changing too.

A lot of people are still wearing masks but a lot of people are not wearing them anymore...I'm one of those not wearing masks anymore...I drove to town earlier this evening and the downtown area of that small town was packed full of people, live bands playing outside, restaurants had their front doors wide open and crowds were everywhere...No social distancing, no masks, no more pandemic here...

Overnight the mask mandate vanished and I'd say about 25% of people are still wearing them. I understand if you want to wear a mask and also if you don't. No problem.

Someone please tell me why complete idiots still walk around with the mask on their chin? A marker that says 'please remove me from the gene pool' perhaps?

Yeah I don't get that, especially now...Saw a guy get out of his car at the grocery store wearing it on his chin and it never moved when he went into the store...Why even have it on?...

I've casually asked a number of people who want to wear the masks and with some, the gloves. Not really hearing anything that makes that much sense and the answers are all over the map. What is clear is that this is the result of scaring the living shit out of large numbers of people of a daily basis for over a year.

The shadow

The shadow knows!
Spring prom happened. Baseball is back. The wind surfing boards are prepared.
And my family my in laws and Brian's family are gathering for memorial day.
In the shadows of this pandemic we give thanks that no one in our family got it. We think about what more we could do. Looks like I have more reason to support the salvation army...

North Carolina reported 525 new infections yesterday and 17 deaths, these numbers are matching those around May - June 2020...

Part of the reason for this is because of less reporting, people aren't lining up at testing centers as they once did, many testing centers have shut down as a result...In my county both, the drive thru testing center and the drive thru vaccination center the county health department set up, have shut down...So there's less people reporting mild symptoms, anyone with severe symptoms will likely go to the hospital and be tested there, but overall less reporting per day...Another reason for the low numbers must be the vaccination efforts and percentage of people vaccinated...As of yesterday it stands at 36.6% of the population of North Carolina are vaccinated fully and in the county I live it's at 39%, I was incorrect at my estimates earlier in this thread...

So two good reasons for the lower daily numbers reported, I assume people who have mild symptoms and not being tested are using some common sense and stay at home and isolated...Everything is opening back up and returning somewhat back to normal...I haven't eaten at any restaurants lately but I don't usually eat out much anyway and I see the local restaurants are packed, I would say about half the people I've observed in town are not wearing masks and half of them are wearing...So there must be people unvaccinated and maskless in the crowds...With the exception of entering a pharmacy I haven't been wearing a mask anywhere I go, but there's a couple new masks in my glove box in the car just in case I need one...

I'm vaccinated but with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is different than Pfizer or Moderna, however I had no major problems with it, mainly just minor fatigue is about all I experienced...
