Did the garden make it through the windstorm okay?...My corn are just over a foot high now, I hope we don't get a storm with strong winds, it could blow over all my corn lol...We've had a couple rainstorms lately but light steady rain for a few hours, not much wind nor any lightning, could use some lightning though...

...
Only the potatoes seem to be unscathed. The tomato plants are ok, just a little beaten but everything else, the squash and melons have huge holes in their leaves. Two plant started blooming after though so I think they are ok. The chile is hanging in there but looks a little raged. Of course the onions and garlic are always fine.

I'm still not done wiping down the house, I haven't done the living room yet so its off limits until I clean it tomorrow morning, I've done enough for today...

The living room is done, started at 6am this morning cleaning the rest of the house of possible urushiol contamination...After that and after an espresso I went out to the garden to pull weeds from around the garden plants...Before I knew it almost 4 hours had past and I was exhausted, I didn't stop for a break and should have because I was a bit dehydrated and got lightheaded when I finished...Went inside and drank some water and then watered the garden lol...

Enough chores for the day, going to eat some lunch and rest a bit...

Plumbing, ugh...

My mother had a new toilet installed 4 days ago she bought from Lowes and had one of their contractors install...It was leaking water, so the guy came back to fix it, then it leaked again...She got so upset with that installer she called Roto-Rooter and they came out, turns out the original installer used the old wax ring...So Roto-Rooter replaced the wax ring and left, later that day the toilet is still leaking, she called them back, they came out and fixed it, evidently it was also leaking around one of the tank seals too...

Yesterday I get a call from her telling me this story and the fact that its still leaking, so I went over there to look...Its leaking from the tank seal alright, and when I tried to loosen the bolts they were so tight I'm surprised the porcelain didn't crack...I took the tank off, inspected the seal, it had a flat spot in it that I didn't like when I felt it around but tried it anyway once more, realigned and bolted the tank back on...It still leaked but not like it was...This was late in the evening last night, so I cut the water off and this morning going to Lowes when she calls me and get a new seal and replace it, she has another toilet in the house to use...This is a brand new toilet never used and 5 days after installation it still leaks after two licensed plumbers had their hands on it, now I'm finishing that job...

Last week I was driving and the car just cut off, I coasted to a stop on a side road and tried to restarted, it was turned over but wouldn't fire up and start...Waited 10 minutes tried again, same...So I called a tow truck and had it towed to the service shop I use...They try to start it and it fires right up like normal, they can't find any errors or problems so I leave that place...

This morning I'm driving to the park to walk Kobi and the car does it again, cuts off while I'm driving down the road...However this time I see the computer flash an error on the screen, it said "Service Stabilitrak"...I look it up in the car manual and its a part of the traction control system...I search online and find a forum discussing this exact problem, it seems there's a calibration that needs to be performed by a service technician but I can bypass it for now by turning off the Stabilitrak...So I look that procedure in the car manual and its just a button to push lol...The car fired right up after I turned it off...So I have it turned off for now and will schedule a service on that system...

Sounds like you found a known issue so good, no mystery involved. Mystery = $

But food for thought - how old is the battery in the car? 5 years is about it these days. A weak battery can cause all sorts of unrelated codes too. I recently put a new one in my truck because the auto start/stop wasn't working. Come to think of it, I had a couple of spurious 'hillside assist not available' messages that came and went but not since the replacement. I know I bang that drum but there's a reason for it.

Went to Lowes first thing and bought a new seal kit for her toilet tank and STILL leaking...I took the tank back off, took all the guts out of it and thoroughly inspected the drain hole...I felt something, a very fine of a crack but sure enough there was a hairline fine crack that was in the tank where the main drain seal goes...Looked like a manufacturing detect as the crack lined up with a nick in the hole where it appeared the cutting tool got hung up...Took the tank back to Lowes and they exchanged it with another one, went back to her house, installed it and everything was done, no more leaks, its all good now...Phew, what a pain all that was stretching back a few days since this project started with two different plumbers working on this before my hands were on it...

Not sure, I'll have to check it out, its possible but I'm not getting any other errors or issues with the car either....Going to get it serviced next week, if the battery is a few years old I'll get it replaced as well...

We had a good thunderstorm with rain last night. We had a terrible monsoon type storm a few days ago. The wind beat the heck out of my garden and trees. But it brought rain that lasted for over an hour, which is unusual for this area this time of year. Last night's storm was a nice refresher and the rain a bonus.

We're getting some good rainstorms this afternoon, much needed too, I got back home almost 2 hours ago and it's been raining off and on since, more on than off with more on the way...

This will be day 3 of the near 100 F degree days. Yesterday I actually went out on the deck in the shade and napped in the heat and soaked it up. Felt great but all this is welcome to move on after today

Are you in the midwest? I hope Chicago doesn't get that hot, people die in the big cities with that much humidity and the temps get over 95 degrees.

Here late June and most of July it is normal to have temps up to 105, but not everyday. And usually the humidity is below 18%, which just makes it hot, not miserable.

I had the same problem when I remodeled my bathroom about 4 years ago. Had to take the toilet back because it was cracked. The guy at Lowe's told me they're making them thinner and cheaper now and that this is happening a lot.

I saved money by buying my toilets at costco. Better built and less expensive.

Nope. New York's Hudson River Valley.

heat broke somewhat. Only up about 90 today but the humidity is oppressive. Supposed to be intermittent rain & thunderstorms the rest of the week. Our dog's not going to like that much.

We have high humidity but that's normal this time of year, however our temps haven't been remotely close to 100 degrees, we've been averaging 75-80 degree days...Now the rains have been coming as it should be for this time of year, the frequent rainstorms have been weeks late and much needed...

Waiting for Lowes to deliver some pressure treated lumber for me this morning, they are supposed to deliver between 8am and 12noon...Beginning at 11am I have 4 phone interviews for employment and beginning at 2pm I have 3 physical interviews, all 3 in different directions from my house, the furthest being a 35 minute drive away...

I have been complaining about the 34% humidity here with 90 degrees but I would not trade you places. If you are complaining about the humidity I know it is probably 80% which seems unlivable to me. I lived in Georgia for 2 years and I remember the temperatures in the Augusta never got below 40 in winter or over 85 in summer. The humidity never went below 70%. just miserable. I hope you get a break from it soon. We are getting hotter temperatures this week and the humidity is supposed to go back down to normal.

I'm quite accumulated the higher humidity, although 70 percent and higher can be uncomfortable, ideally I like the humidity from 50 to 60 percent...Right now inside my house its at 65 percent, a little on the high side but with the AC on its fine...I don't think I could live in a location that maintains a very low humidity, my skin doesn't handle dry climates very well...
