I'm quite accumulated the higher humidity, although 70 percent and higher can be uncomfortable, ideally I like the humidity from 50 to 60 percent...Right now inside my house its at 65 percent, a little on the high side but with the AC on its fine...I don't think I could live in a location that maintains a very low humidity, my skin doesn't handle dry climates very well...

...
I do have dry skin, but I prefer that to a chronic cough, which is how my body reacts to high humidity. I lived in Dallas a lot of years and had a cough that would not go away. Several doctors were not interested in finding out why, or even checking to see if I had fungus or mold issues. I had lived in an apartment that had black mold on the inside of the walls due to a leak from the upstairs apartment. I didn't know what it was until the mold got so bad it was on the outside of the walls. I think that contributed to the chronic cough but I was just poo poo'd by the doctors. A week after moving back to New Mexico I had no more cough. Now I do cough when my allergies are bad And the humidity is over 18% but it is temporary.

Mold, mildew, and fungus can be an issue in high humidity areas that cannot properly dry out...We have our dry months when the humidity drops below 40 percent or even less...I have one window in the laundry room that seems to grow mold on the muntins and mullions sometimes during the rainy months, it doesn't get much sun on that window either, so I regularly check for mold there when doing my cleaning chores...

Oh yeah, I hit a squirrel on the road yesterday afternoon, ugh, I tried to miss it but it was a two lane country road and with traffic coming the other direction I didn't have much room to swerve out of its way...I hate hitting little critters on the road, it doesn't happen to me much even though I live in more of a rural area...I see turtles crossing roads sometimes and if there's not much traffic I have pulled over before and picked up the turtle helping it the rest of the way before a car runs it over...

Many years ago a deer jumped in front of my jeep whilst driving down a country road and I swerved the opposite way it was running to miss it but still grazed the deer and rolled my jeep, landing in the drainage ditch on the side of the road...I was okay and walked away with minor injuries but totalled my jeep...The deer was okay too I think, it didn't even get knocked off it's feet and ran off lol...If I didn't swerve and try to miss it I would have hit it head-on, but can't say for sure if that would have been better for worse scenario compared to the actions I took of swerving away from hitting it...

When I was visiting New York City back in 2017 I bought a really nice long sleeve dress shirt for 300 dollars, which by the way still fits me well and looks great, lol...Anyway before the pandemic I bought some cotton fabric and made patterns from that shirt I bought in NYC in an attempt to duplicate it...So I have had the pieces cut out and tucked away in my cedar chest with the rest of my fabric on hand...Then today when I was looking for some scissors in the cedar chest, I pulled out those cut pieces of the shirt, and now I'm thinking I'll set up my sewing machines this weekend and start back on that project...I didn't do any sewing last year...

So what I like about this particular shirt is the stitching and style, it's English, made in Britain, one hundred percent cotton and an elegant look and feel with very fine stitching...I've worn it six times since the summer of 2017 lol...

Yes, the mold is what I hate most about the high humidity. Sometimes it really aggravates my sinuses.

Now 11 days later and still dealing with this, ugh...I think I finally got all contaminated areas cleaned, had to thoroughly clean my car a few days ago, steering wheel, door handles, anything I touched...Been washing my bedding after every night of sleep, washing clothes promptly as well...

I've had no new outbreaks on my skin since this past Tuesday so I think the worst is behind me...Its mainly on my arms, a couple spots on my thigh and one spot on my neck...I went to my general physician this morning about this because two spots on my arm look like third degree burns and are painful like burns, he gave me some Prednisone...He said he's highly reactive to Urushiol and takes him months to get over it...This is the worst my skin has ever reacted to Urushiol...

I was totally immune and then suddenly one day realized I wasn't. Ask me how I figured that out .... I wipe my arms down with this stuff before I start and wash with it afterwards to get rid of the oils. Works. Dawn dish soap too in a pinch

My doctor also recommended that stuff, he said the same thing, put it on before I start weeding and wash it off after...I ordered a couple bottles a few days ago though, will have it next time...

We've been getting a nice rain every afternoon this week, my garden is loving this weather, the corn is almost 3 foot tall now and the watermelons are shooting out vines and taking off...

So, I need some work done on my house and I am having trouble finding a decent contractor. My friend is a realtor and sent me a recommendation of the person the company she works for uses. I called the number, left a message stating I needed a call back whether he could help me or not. Later I am working, have my head /concentration completely in a program and I get a text from an number I don't recognize. "Can I call you later?" So, what do I say, I don't know who it is so I text "I don't know who you are." and get no answer. The next day I check the number thinking maybe it was the contractor and I was right, it was. Still haven't heard from him. I called again and his phone went straight to voicemail so I figure, 1. he is using his cell phone as his business phone, not very encouraging to me 2. he must be under 25 if he thinks texting instead of calling is ok. 3. he must not need the work if he didn't answer my text.

What kind of business person would send a text without identifying themselves? Even a 20 year old should know that.

I know I am old and crotchety but this seems extraordinarily idiotic for him to do that.

I remember eating that stuff. That, strips of lead paint peeling off the barn and often the bread that my grandmother would toss out on the lawn. Best after a few days. Vitamin deficiency or gourmand, your choice :)

Got the old Chevy all squared away and took it for a quick spin and some fresh gas. I found a few odds and ends that need attention but nothing major. Power steering was straightforward. Did something a little different this time. Already had the front up off the ground on jack stands, filled the reservoir and rotated the wheel back and forth lock to lock several times with the car off. Easy with no weight on the front wheels. It sucked in the fluid to all the parts that had been drained and primed the system plus gave me the chance to check for leaks. Found a wee one and fixed it. Worked great even though the pump wasn't running. When I put it on the ground and fired the car up I didn't have to add fluid, just rotated it lock to lock several times to bleed it out and it's happy as a clam right now. Knock on wood.

A job recruiter did that to me last week, we talked on the phone a couple of times early in the week, then out of the blue he just texts me and says, "Can you drive to Winston-Salem tomorrow?" and nothing else...I waited about an hour then replied "Who is this?"...He calls me 30 minutes later to tell me its him but how am I supposed to know with an unannounced text like that and not identifying who he is...I told him he's not the only one I'm talking to about work, I get many calls, emails, and texts lately and daily...

It is a professional thing to do to say your name in a first text to someone out of the blue like that on business matters...I didn't ask him to text me, honestly when talking about work I would rather speak on the phone than text about it...

Spent the morning today doing a full service on my riding mower, change fluids, sharpen blades, removed the mowing deck and cleaned it well, greased all grease fittings etc, even washed it like I do my car but didn't wax it lol...

Then proceeded to mow the property, damn nice cut with freshly sharpened blades, the yard looks good...Its been cloudy all morning, perfect for working on the mower and cutting the grass...Twenty minutes after I was done the sun comes out and starts getting hotter outside, good timing...

Back when I was looking for work I had a similar experience. I got a text out of the blue by someone asking me if I could report in for work. I didn't respond right away because I though it was some scam or sales pitch. It was only a p/t job anyway.

I also had an interview for a part time retail job where, after the HR person interviewed me, the store manager ( who was in his 20s) came in and talked to me. He began going over the job duties and, out of the blue, he started using 4-letter words. "There's a lot of shit you have to do at the end of your shift ... " Seriously??? I couldn't believe how glib he was. The store was closed about a year later anyway. Bed, Bath, and Beyond is struggling to survive against Amazon and I really felt the desperate vibe.

An awesome birthday weekend for my youngest boy. I got him a gift he will not soon forget. He served as bat boy for the Madison Mallards. For one game he met and worked with a minor league team. Much to the envy of his baseball loving older brother.
This summer will be long remembered by my family..
