Contractors are a Royal pain in the a**. I’ve come to learn that if you are some small job they will totally ignore your calls. They would much rather be working on large projects. I had a new roof and siding put up a few years ago. We had a big storm and some of the siding was hanging off the house. I called twice and left a message with these guys. I received no reply.

It so happens their business is right along the interstate. My wife and I drove over to their business. I got out and went in and asked for the guy in charge. I told him I called twice and got no reply back. He stuttered and made excuses. He was “busy.” I asked if he was so busy he couldn’t make a five minute call to me. The crew was out the next day to repair the siding. Sometimes you have to lean on these people if you want a response.

I hate it when the US Postal Service fouls up. And they have been doing so with alarming frequency since the beginning of the year. Most often, they somehow manage to route a parcel in a erroneous direction. Previously, the blunders would only be local or regional. But the present one takes the cake. I ordered some Ginkgo biloba from a store in California to be shipped to NYC, yet the USPS sent it literally in the opposite direction, to Hawaii! To add icing to this "nice" cake, their software declares that it will be delivered to me today, an obvious impossibility.

So, do they have two separately faulty software systems, or just one? There is the error to send the package in the wrong direction, but then a seemingly distinct error to not recognize that the package can't get from Honolulu to the Bronx in a few hours.

I had a USPS package coming a couple weeks ago from New Jersey, it went through the distribution center in Raleigh NC as usual, however the unusual part was that it left Raleigh and went back to Raleigh 3 times before finally coming my way lol...

Mail and package delivery is totally wacky. I ordered something from Tennessee. It went to California and then back all the way across the country to Pennsylvania. I think it took an additional two weeks to get to me!

I hate it when my work computer doesn't work correctly, then someone logs on remotely and controls it, deletes some software and has me reb00t, and then I can't get back on the network. I am essentially dead in the water and all of this time is going to be logged to unbillable. If I could just walk away it would not bug me so much, but I have to sit and wait for when the tech guy needs me to enter my password.

Frustrating that the USPS is so busy delivering Amazon stuff that they can't get their own friggin' mail to work. They have flat out LOST two Priority Mail envelopes, one of which had tax documents in it. Their answer is always the same: tough titties for you. Ahhh, but order a stupid bauble from Amazon and the Post Office truck shows right up on time even on Sunday.

Lately though I've noticed a couple of Amazon trucks in the neighborhood so I guess the volume in the area mandated them.

My sister sent my a packet of photos in the mail weeks ago and they disappeared. No way to trace them. They never made it to my mail box and the post office she mailed then from has no help for her. They were old family photos and now they are lost. Very maddening.

I hate it when people say that something or someone "speaks to" an abstract noun. Where the hell did this nonsense construction come from all of a sudden?

I hate it when I find a metal splinter with my stocking feet. My wife was in the city yesterday so I spent some time quality contorting myself into a position to get it out, which I did. Yikes !

Got to vacuum out every square inch of the garage. And never go in there again in my socks. Better me finding it than my dog though.

Abstract nouns do not have a 'physical' presence, so if I'm understanding correctly one cannot speak to something that is not present...

Could you provide a concrete example? (no pun intended)...

I hate it when I express concern for people like my friends and family who are obese and then get labeled fatphobic. The fat acceptance movement is promoting the early deaths of millions of people worldwide at a time when 72% of adults in the US are either obese or overweight.

What words are you using to "express concern"? If someone doesn't want to change they won't. If they complain about their condition but don't change I would just walk away. They have access to all the same information the rest of us have.

Good god, both examples are terrible in their word structure but the second example is absolutely horrible...I wonder how old the writer is, 12?...lol

A double whammy but fine examples, however this development could be because of some calling proper grammer "racist"...

My neighbor consistently throws food outside his kitchen door for the wild animals to eat...It doesn't matter what kind of food it is and doesn't matter if it's leftovers from a meal or refrigerated food that has gone bad, out the door it flies into the grassy area a few feet from that kitchen door...He lives far enough away down the road from me that I dont see it or smell it but there's a lot more wild animal traffic in our neighborhood because of it...Coyotes and raccoons come around more often naturally and it makes for a dangerous situation which I've tried to explain to him but ignorance and old habits prevail...Sigh, I digress...
