View attachment 970 I got the impression that it is a photo of this nature he was referring to. Although in this one there is nothing odd in the reflection. He said there are others taken at the same time which has things we were not meant to see in the visor reflection. Obviously not in this image though,

Where are the stars in the sky ?

Hi August, this is a common one the conspiracy theorists used to use to support the Fake Moon Landing idea. The mistake comes from assuming the dark sky is an indication that it is night. The dark sky is because there is no atmosphere to speak of.
It is like saying why can't we see stars in the daytime on Earth at midday on a clear day. Well it is because its daytime. If you were on the moon at night, or should I say on the Dark side of the moon. You would see stars.
However like the Moon is visible in daytime from Earth, So is the Earth visible from the moon in daytime.
Cheers

Interesting, I guess we would never know the truth. I recall Amateur Radio enthusiasts were supposed to have heard the secret conversation as well. Can't remember where I saw that though.

There were also recordings of the astronauts going around the far side of the moon in orbit, they heard strange noises but it turned out to be something explainable...Hearing something and seeing something are far different, I think something heard can be explained away more easily than something seen...

Carl Sagan wrote a book called The Pale Blue Dot, although a bit dated now it is still a fantastic read.
I have it on audio book as MP3s and the first chapters are a real treat because it is Carl Sagan reading it.
I spend a lot of time driving for work doing tech support so have listened to it about 3 times through.
If you want a copy pm me and I will email it too you. I warn you though it goes for nearly 13 hours.
As I said a lot of the stuff he talks about is a little dated now, and a lot you will already know. But it is an awesome listen. Its a bit like the Lord of the Rings of Science. You have to read it (or listen to it) at least once in your life.
Why I bring it up at all is because he dedicates a whole section to planetary atmospheres and why the sky is blue here but pink on Mars. Let me know if you want a copy.

Astronomy on Mars - Wikipedia

Around sunset and sunrise the Martian sky is pinkish-red in color, but in the vicinity of the setting sun or rising sun it isblue. This is the exact opposite of the situation on Earth. However, during the day the sky is a yellow-brown"butterscotch" color. On Mars, Rayleigh scattering is usually a very small effect.

And in his book he has a great story about the fist images to come back being adjusted (color corrected) innocenty by the techs. They got it all wrong because they didnt know better. Great book :)
