California dad killed his kids over QAnon and 'serpent DNA' conspiracy theories, feds allege

Aug. 11, 2021, 7:47 PM EDT

A California surfing school owner who was charged with killing his two children in Mexico is a follower of QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories who thought the children "were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them," federal officials alleged.

Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, was charged Wednesday with foreign murder of U.S. nationals in connection with the death of his 2-year-old son and his 10-month-old daughter, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. Authorities said Coleman confessed to the killings and told the FBI that he used a spear fishing gun to stab them.

Matthew Taylor Coleman.

A criminal complaint alleges that he told the FBI that he killed his children because he believed they "were going to grow into monsters" and that conspiracy theories led him to believe that his wife had passed down her "serpent DNA" to the children.

Coleman's wife, identified only by her initials, contacted Santa Barbara police after her husband had taken the kids out on Saturday but didn't tell her where they were going, the complaint said. She grew concerned after he failed to respond to her messages, and, knowing that her husband didn't have a car seat with him, she called police.

A missing person's report was filed Sunday, and officers asked her to use Apple's Find My iPhone feature to see whether she could find Coleman, the complaint said. The program showed Coleman's last known location in Rosarito, Mexico, it said.

Police alerted the FBI to the investigation as it became a case of suspected parental kidnapping. Coleman was detained Monday after an inspection by border protection agents of his van upon his re-entry into the U.S., where agents didn't see his children and found blood in the vehicle, authorities said.

The complaint alleges that Coleman confessed to the killings upon being interviewed Monday and gave authorities the location of the murder weapon and the discarded bloody clothing. He also identified two bodies recovered by Mexican authorities as those of his children, it said.

A judge ordered that Coleman be held without bond Wednesday and scheduled his arraignment for Aug. 31.

According to the complaint, Coleman said that he knew what he did was wrong but that "it was the only course of action that would save the world."

"Serpent DNA" is a likely to be a reference to the "lizard people" conspiracy theory, which falsely purports that reptilian aliens secretly run the world and have taken over important positions in government, banking and Hollywood.

The complaint says Coleman told authorities that he learned about "serpent DNA" through QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories, even though the lizard people conspiracy theory predates both by several decades.

The believers in each conspiracy theory have melded together over the last several years because conspiracy theory influencers and algorithms on social media frequently lump the theories together.

QAnon is a more recent conspiracy theory premised on the belief that a similar global cabal at the top of the U.S. government is secretly murdering and eating children and that Donald Trump was quietly working to defeat them during his time in office.

Anthony Quinn Warner, who bombed his own RV outside an AT&T building in Nashville, Tennessee, on Christmas Day, claimed that lizard people were taking over Hollywood and the U.S. government. Warner died and three other people were injured.

While the QAnon conspiracy theory is undoubtedly stupid and harmful to society, I suspect that the father of the children is not psychologically normal. It sounds like he is psychotic and paranoid. I don't think that one of the tenets of the QAnon theory involves serpent DNA, or that one should kill one's own children to prevent them from turning into serpents. That more closely resembles the conspiracy theories of David Icke, but even still I doubt that Icke ever implores his followers to kill their own children.

I suspect that this man would have been a danger to his children and to others regardless of what conspiracy theories were circulating on social media. Psychotic individuals latch onto many different things, including religion, and popular music lyrics, to inform their paranoid delusions. If the QAnon conspiracy theory belief disappeared tomorrow, tragic events like this would still go on.

Furious road rage suspect hurls ax into woman's windshield after first 'chasing her off the freeway and blocking her escape'

The 47-year-old suspect was driving a Jeep on the Interstate 5 in the Seattle area on July 27 when he honked at the victim, according to incident reports. King County deputies say the victim took an exit off the highway in an attempt to avoid confrontation, but the Jeep followed her, passed her vehicle and blocked the road in front of her. Dashcam video footage (pictured) of the incident shows the Jeep's driver then getting out of the car and quickly hurling an ax at the victim, which smashes against her windshield as she tries to escape. The unnamed suspect was then shown driving over the median and fleeing back the way the two cars arrived from.

Wisconsin woman shoots friend while using gun’s laser sight to play with cat

The woman, who a witness said had been drinking, picked up the handgun, “turned on the laser sight and was pointing it at the floor to get the cat to chase it,” when the gun went off, the complaint filed Thursday said.

The man, who was standing in a doorway, was shot in the thigh, authorities said. He left and went into another apartment, where police found him after responding to a 911 call, the Kenosha News reported.

Mysterious Flashing Light Spotted Emanating from River Thames

A woman in London was left scratching her head when she spotted a weird flashing light emanating from the famed Thames River and no one is quite sure what might be behind the eerie glow. The strange illumination was reportedly captured on film by witness Juliana Asayevich, who subsequently shared the footage on a local Facebook group in the hopes of finding out what could be causing the submerged strangeness. In the very odd video, a sizeable light can be seen flashing from beneath the surface of the water at a position seemingly near the center of the river.

As one might imagine, Asayevich's footage prompted all manner of fantastic theories from people online. Some observers theorized that the light could be coming from a submarine lurking in the river, while more imaginative individuals offered an extraterrestrial explanation. Among the more prosaic possibilities put forward for the source of the illumination were a traffic beacon or possibly a bicycle, although those suggestions are somewhat hard to fathom given the location of the light.

Bank robber fails due to his own bad handwriting

A pensioner who attempted to rob a building society left empty-handed because the teller couldn't read his note.

The bizarre incident saw 67-year-old Alan Slattery walk into a branch of the Nationwide Building Society in Eastbourne, Sussex earlier this year and hand a note to one of the employees.

In handwriting that could be considered difficult to decipher at best, it read:

"Your screen won't stop what I've got, just hand over the 10s and the 20s.

Think about the other customers."

Unable to make sense of the note, however, the employee wouldn't co-operate and the man ultimately ended up leaving the building empty-handed.

He struck a further two times - once at a Nationwide branch in St. Leonards and again at a NatWest branch in Hastings. Only in one instance did he actually make off with any money. He was later apprehended by police after being identified from security footage. He has since been sentenced to six years in prison.

Giant Rubber Duck Mysteriously Appears in Maine Harbor

Residents of a city in Maine a celebrating a cheerful addition to their community in the form of an enormous rubber duck that mysteriously appeared in their harbor over the weekend. According to a local media report, the 25-foot-tall bird, which is emblazoned with the word 'joy,' was first noticed on Saturday morning in the shallow waters off the coast of Belfast. Although no one is certain as to how the whimsical duck wound up in the harbor, chatter in the community suggests that it may have floated to its current location from the nearby island town of Islesboro.

While they may not know where the duck came from, the city's residents have embraced the bird and are hoping that it doesn't leave anytime soon. "Everybody loves it," Belfast Harbor Master Katherine Given said, "I have no idea who owns it, but it kind of fits Belfast. A lot of people want to keep it here." She went on to say that since the duck is located in shallow waters and does not pose a navigational hazard, the city is perfectly fine with letting the bright yellow bird and its joyful message remains right where it is.

One presumes that the owners of the duck are now aware of its location since the strange story of its mysterious appearance in Belfast Harbor has spawned worldwide headlines. Should they or some other enterprising individuals attempt to claim the bird, however, it might not be that easy both because of its size and how quickly it has become a beloved part of the community. To that end, Given mused that "it'll be interesting to see if somebody tries to take it out of here how far they’ll get."

'River Dave' is given $180K to rebuild his cabin home of 30 years by billionaire CEO of Palanatir after he was arrested for squatting and his shack mysteriously burned down

upload_2021-8-20_8-56-45.png

A billionaire software company CEO has given a former hermit a personal check $180,000 after the cabin where he'd been squatting for nearly 30 years burnt down in Canterbury, New Hampshire on August 4.

Alexander Karp, the 53-year-old head of Palanatir Technologies, gave David Lidstone, 81, a personal check last week, Lidstone's friend Jodie Gedeon wrote on Facebook.

A spokesperson for the data analytics software company confirmed the donation to the Concord Monitor. 'How can I express myself and my gratitude towards something like that? I start to tear up whenever I think about it,' Lidstone told the Monitor.

'For an old logger who always had to work, for anyone to give you that type of money, it´s incredibly difficult for me to get my head around'.

There has been an outpouring of support for Lidstone since he was jailed on July 15 and accused of squatting for nearly 30 years on the Merrimack River property owned by Leonard Giles.

Giles, 86, wanted Lidstone off the property even though a prior owner in the family told the squatter that he could live there, but nothing was found in writing.

The same family owned the undeveloped property since 1963.

Baked Bean Vandal Menaces British Village

Residents of a village in England are irritated by the antics of a mischievous vandal who has been dumping baked beans on doorsteps and vehicles. The bizarre crime spree has reportedly been unfolding in the small community of Wonersh, which boasts a population of just 3,000 people. Taking to social media last week, police informed residents that they had received several reports of incidents wherein "beans and other food has been poured onto residents' front doors and cars overnight."

In the post, the police department included a pair of photos from two such cases, one in which the roof of a car had been covered with beans and another featuring four empty cans sitting near the doorstep of a home that has also been doused with beans. Authorities went on to note that the victims were "understandably distressed by this unacceptable behavior" and pledged to step up patrols in the area while also asking residents for any tips which might identify the bean-wielding vandal.

Pastor dies while attempting 'resurrection'

According to reports, James Sakara - the pastor of the Zion Church in Chidiza, Zambia - became so convinced that he could come back to life after three days that he decided to attempt the feat by means of being buried alive in a grave dug by three of his own church members.

While most of those in attendance were reluctant to assist, he eventually set things in motion by lying down in the newly dug grave with his hands tied behind his back.

Soil was then piled on top of him until he was well and truly buried alive.

Unsurprisingly, when church members returned three days later to dig him up and witness his 'resurrection', they instead found him very much dead.

Some attendees even attempted 'spiritual exercises' to revive him, but to no avail.

While one of the three men who assisted with the stunt has since handed himself into the authorities, the remaining two are still at large and are currently being hunted by the police.

ABC News report is interrupted by satanic ritual

A news report in Australia was unexpectedly interrupted recently by some sort of strange satanic ceremony. Continuity errors, editing gaffes and other mistakes are not that uncommon during news broadcasts, however a recent ABC News segment about new animal welfare legislation was unexpectedly interrupted by a clip of something so unusual that it's hard to believe that it actually happened.

The peculiar cutaway, which lasted only around two seconds, showed what looked like a satanic ceremony with a robed figure chanting "hail Satan" in front of an illuminated, upside-down cross.

The news segment then immediately switched back to the studio presenter who, after a brief pause, continued reading out the news as if nothing had happened. A closer look at the two-second clip shows what looks like a studio with a camera on the left, a woman sitting in front of a piano keyboard and another individual dressed in some sort of gothic robes.

We can only guess as to what was going on and how this ended up in the ABC News report.

Swindling Florida 'Psychic' Strikes Again?

Cops in Florida are hoping to track down a self-proclaimed psychic who allegedly swindled a trio of men out of more than $50,000 and the woman in question may be the same purported sorceress who made headlines earlier this year for a similar scam. The unfortunate series of events reportedly unfolded in the city of Tamarac a few weeks ago when the various victims responded to a radio ad for a psychic who proclaimed that she "could turn people's fortunes around for the better." The men were understandably intrigued by such a tantalizing offer and booked appointments with the woman at her office in a commercial park.

Upon their arrival, the victims told police, they were greeted by a woman calling herself 'Elizabeth' and wearing a brown wig as well as a mask over her face 'to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.' It would seem that this was not all that suspicious to the men as they proceeded to partake in the psychic's services, which consisted of a palm reading and, presumably, instructions on how to improve their financial standing. It was that latter part of the session where things went awry as, cops say, she proposed a "special ritual" wherein she would double their money "by performing a specific ceremony."

The psychic's sales pitch apparently worked like a charm and all three of the men later returned with sizeable sums of money as well as expensive gold jewelry. In each instance, the woman indicated that she would need two days to accomplish the magical feat and assured her victims that she would bring the blessed riches back to them after that. As you've likely surmised by now, the psychic subsequently vanished with all of their money and jewelry, which cops say was around $53,000 in total. After waiting the prescribed pair of days and not hearing from Elizabeth, the men discovered that her phone had been disconnected and the office space abandoned.

While one cannot be certain, the account of the men sounds eerily similar to a case from April of this year when a self-proclaimed psychic in the Florida city of Naples pulled off the same ruse and wound up netting a whopping $100,000 from her victims. In both instances, the sorceress advertised on local radio, convinced her clients to bring her large sums of money that she would bless, and then made off with the ill-gotten riches. Considering that Naples to Tamarac is almost a straight line from one side of the state to the other, it stands to reason these two capers could very well be connected and that both schemes were the work of the same woman, who will likely strike again unless cops can track her down and bring her to justice.

Fears man 'may have injected his own BLOOD' into meat and microwave food at a Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury's in Fulham as police probe if other stores are involved and shoppers are urged to bin items

A man who was arrested after microwave food was allegedly injected with syringes filled with his blood at three London supermarkets 'threw one of the needles at a jogger'. The man clashed with Tom Harrington, 38, after chanting 'run fat boy run' as he ran past him just after 7pm last night in Hammersmith, West London.

Speaking to MailOnline today Mr Harrington, a media analyst, said the man produced a metal cylinder filled with about 30-syringes. He took one out and threw it at his feet before nonchalantly walking off. The confrontation took place about 100 metres away from a Waitrose supermarket, where the man is believed to have injected a substance - possibly his own blood - into processed meats and microwave meals.

He is thought to have also targeted a nearby Tesco and Sainsbury's supermarkets just before 8pm last night. Recalling his brush with the suspect, Mr Harrington said: 'I was on a run just after 7pm last night and was running along Rannoch Road by the junction of Silverton Road when this guy started to chant 'run fat boy run' at me.

'He was a white guy, normal build with stubble who looked to be aged in his 30s. He was eyeballing me so I stopped and asked him what he was doing but he continued to chant. Then he pulled out this tin cylinder - like a pen case - but it was filled with 30 or so syringes. He pulled one out and threw it at me. I was only standing about a metre and a half from him but it didn't hit me, it landed on the ground by my feet.'

'I couldn't quite tell what was in it - it may have had blood in, I couldn't quite tell to be sure - but I noticed the syringe had the top on still. At this point he was starting to walk down Silverton Road towards Fulham Palace Road, where the supermarkets are. 'I asked him 'Did you just throw a syringe at me?'. He turned back and said over his shoulder 'they're my freshies' or words to that effect. It was a very strange encounter.'

The Metropolitan Police were called just before 8pm after a man was reported to be shouting abuse at people in the street. He is alleged to have visited the Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury's outlets on Fulham Palace Road, where he allegedly injected food products using more than one syringe.

It is currently unknown how many items have been contaminated, or with what substance.

Quarter-Mile-Long Stretch of Bean Field in Minnesota Collapses 25 Feet

A farmer in Minnesota was left scratching his head when a quarter-mile-long swath of his bean field mysteriously collapsed a staggering 25 feet and created an enormous ravine in the process. According to a local media report, the jaw-dropping development occurred on Wayne Erickson's farm near the community of Climax. "When I drove out here, it looked like the Grand Canyon," he marveled, noting that he and his wife had never seen anything quite like it in all their years working the land. Reflecting on the "kind of scary" and "sad" collapse of the field, Erllene Erickson thoughtfully mused that "Mother Nature does what she wants."

As for why such an enormous portion of the field wound up falling upon itself, speculation among experts is that the ravine could have suddenly formed as a result of recent rainfall combined with a drop in the water levels at the nearby Red River. That said, researchers hope to visit the site in the not-too-distant future to study what some are calling a geological wonder. While the fourth-generation farmer and his wife may appreciate the wondrous display of Mother Nature's power, we're guessing that he would rather have all those beans back rather than the enormous ravine that is likely to only produce curiosity seekers.

Dozens develop tics from Tourette's videos

news-super-eye.jpg

Can watching YouTube really give you the symptoms of Tourette's ?

A psychiatrist in Germany became suspicious when dozens of patients turned up with identical symptoms. When several dozen people turned up at the office of Kirsten Muller-Vahl - head of the Tourette's outpatient department at Hannover Medical School - she knew something was amiss.

Her patients all exhibited identical, complex tics that had been previously diagnosed as Tourette's, however despite this, she was convinced that something else was going on.

A discussion with a student would ultimately lead her to the answer - all of the patients had been fans of the YouTube channel 'Gewitter im Kopf' which documents the daily life of Jan Zimmermann, a 23-year-old German man with Tourette's who has managed to amass over two million subscribers.

Incredibly, the patients had developed identical tics to Zimmermann after watching his videos.

According to Muller-Vahl, these people were suffering from a condition known as functional movement disorder (FMD) - a purely psychological ailment in contrast to the neurological nature of Tourette's.

For some of the patients, the symptoms vanished after this was explained to them, while others improved following a course of psychotherapy. Mass sociogenic illness - otherwise known as mass hysteria - has manifested in various ways in recent years; we have covered several cases, for example, of mass hysteria in classrooms due to perceived paranormal phenomena in countries such as Ghana and Malaysia.

Seeing it happen as a result of watching videos on YouTube however is certainly an intriguing twist.
