Timothee Chalamet drops first look photo showing him as Willy Wonka

Timothee Chalamet has dropped a deliciously delightful first look at himself in costume as Willy Wonka in the upcoming prequel film about the fictional candy maker's life.

Chalamet shared the photo from the set of the upcoming Wonka, showing him in a chocolate brown top hat, perhaps a little darker than the one worn by Gene Wilder in 1971's Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, and what looks to be a crushed velvet raspberry topcoat (Wilder's was grape-colored). The actor is also sporting a geometric patterned scarf atop a multi-colored vest in the new pic.

"The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last … WONKA" Chalamet captioned the first look he shared on Instagram on Sunday. On a second Instagram slide, Chalamet posted a look at Wonka's walking cane — made of wood and brass, with the top opening to reveal a purple and red wrapped present inside.

Back in May, EW confirmed Chalamet was gearing up to play young Willy in Warner Bros.' upcoming prequel film focusing on Wonka's life before the chocolate factory. Paddington director Paul King is helming the project. He wrote the Wonka screenplay alongside Simon Farnaby. Simon Rich, Simon Stephenson, Jeff Nathanson, and Steven Levenson contributed to prior versions.

Jussie Smollett criminal trial to move forward after judge denies to dismiss case

A judge on Friday denied a last-ditch effort to dismiss a criminal case against actor Jussie Smollett, who is accused of lying to police when he reported that he was the victim of a racist, anti-gay attack in downtown Chicago in January 2019.

An attorney for the former "Empire" actor said Smollett's rights were being violated since he had already performed community service and given up a $10,000 bond under a previous deal with Cook County prosecutors to drop charges. "A deal is a deal. That’s ancient principle," attorney Nenye Uche said.

But Judge James Linn noted that Smollett's case now was being led by a special prosecutor appointed by another judge, an arrangement that he would not upset.

Linn said jury selection in Smollett's trial would start Nov. 29.

If he was smart, he would just fess up. I doubt the penalty is severe for what he did. He could use a lame excuse like prescription drugs clouded his judgment.

Absolutely fascinating! It explains a lot about the degradation of several franchises. I certainly hope Chapek succeeds.

How Kevin Costner's non-woke 'Yellowstone' - that none of the liberal media ever write about - has quietly become the most streamed TV show in the US: Comfort TV portrays the way America used to be

The runaway popularity of the Yellowstone, which saw more than 8 million people tuning in to its season four premier, put it over the top of heavyweight favorites like 60 Minutes and NCIS (right). Yellowstone focuses on Kevin Costner's John Dutton (left), a landowning rancher in Montana overseeing his wealth and family, a setting rarely seen among modern top-rated shows. And unlike shows like Succession that play up the drama of the modern Big Apple or America's metropolitans, Yellowstone puts a lens on rural America where local businesses are losing their wealth and power in a changing nation.

Britney is FREE! Judge officially terminates pop star's $60M conservatorship that allowed father Jamie to control almost every aspect of her life

Britney Spears' conservatorship is officially over, after a judge in Los Angeles ended the 13-year arrangement. Dozens of fans in #FreeBritney t-shirts had gathered outside the Stanley Mosk Courthouse on Friday. The hearing got underway at around 1.30pm. Earlier, Britney herself wore a '#FreeBritney' t-shirt. Friday's hearing was expected to be the final step in dissolving the conservatorship that has prevented Britney from making her own decisions about finances and medical care for nearly 14 years. Judge Brenda Penny ruled on the petition that Britney filed earlier this year. Ahead of the hearing, the 39-year-old pop star's fiancé Sam Asghari shared a brief Instagram video of her modeling a #FreeBritney t-shirt that features the tagline: 'It's a human rights movement' Sam, 27, proudly donned the same statement-making tee in black and even got the couple's dog in on the action. He cryptically captioned the post: 'Loading…' While Jamie's lawyers filed a motion agreeing with Britney that the conservatorship should end, he insisted that there was no wrongdoing on his part and he was always looking out for his daughter's interests.

I've never listened to her music, but I certainly applaud her getting her freedom.

Kevin Smith is so out of touch, he's a mess...

Maybe the boards of directors or the investors of various media properties will realize that social experimentation and agendas are costing them too much money. In today's world, there are far, far more choices for consumers than 30+ years ago. That means, if you already have a fanbase for a franchise, it's a bad idea to alienate them. It makes more sense to create new franchises that set out from the beginning to cater to whoever they hope the new audience will be. That strikes me as a win win strategy instead of the revisionist approach they seem to be addicted to presently.

I'm not surprised.

That's what seems to be happening at Disney/Marvel, they have been shifting some of the woke elements (people) out and into positions where they can do no more harm to get the MCU back on track...There's talk that the Russo brothers are in negotiations with Disney to possibly have a big part and say in the future direction of the MCU...
