I thought browser and search engine were the same thing. We use Chrome at work. I try to use Duck Duck Go as much as I can personally.

Interestingly, in the case of Chrome, browser and search engine are practically the same. It's different for other browsers though.

Browsers and search engines are two different animals. Some do both, but they are two different things.

Which browser - just a web surfing app generally - depends on what you're doing. If you involve financials and forms of payment, careful there. If you're just surfing it probably doesn't make much of a difference. I use several for different reasons.

Internet Exploder (since retired) and now Edge come with your Windows operating system so if you have a fresh Windows load or new PC you have a browser right there out of the gate. But, you can download and install other web browsers that might suit you depending on what you are doing. The general idea is to be able to look at web pages and have all the videos or animation or whatever you want to see actually work without being overwhelmed by ads and pop ups and crapola that collects, usually not to your benefit.

Search engines are NOT unbiased. About any browser you find, including Edge, will have an option to pick the one you want to use somewhere in it's settings. Google is generally fine and can be handy but it is NOT unbiased and when you search for something it can show you whatever the Lords of Google deem acceptable. So they can and do subtly skew things for or against whatever they want just by providing search result. Cheeky bastards. I got lazy and when I took the time to look at what browsers I had been using and what search engines I said 'oh my' and had to make some changes. The reason all this stuff is provided free is because the data regarding your habits is of value and often you might not be aware of how much of this data you are providing. No matter how careful you are, you're providing that data to one degree or another.

If you are a novice and want to try a different browser try this one: Download Brave | Brave Browser
It should look kind of familiar. Go into the settings and make your default search engine DuckDuckGo. I noticed an immediate difference in the results for the better. You don't have to make it the default browser for your PC or even use it too much. Use it once in a while to fiddle with it so you don't disturb however it is you do things now. You don't like it, just remove it. Vivaldi is more for an advanced user with different needs - I will say I like it !

That help? Hope so.

A few minutes ago, Google sent me an email saying I had identical passwords and usernames on a number of sites. How could they know that?

FBI aware of and investigating fake FBI emails sent to thousands

The Federal Bureau of Investigation says it is aware of reports that unauthorized emails from a legitimate FBI address were sent to thousands of organizations.

"The FBI and CISA are aware of the incident this morning involving fake emails from an @ic.fbi.gov email account," the FBI said in a statement Saturday. "This is an ongoing situation, and we are not able to provide any additional information at this time. The impacted hardware was taken offline quickly upon discovery of the issue. We continue to encourage the public to be cautious of unknown senders and urge you to report suspicious activity to ic3.gov or cisa.gov."

Over 100,000 inboxes were hit with the emails, according to the Europe based nonprofit Spamhaus Project, and warned about a "sophisticated chain attack" on the recipients cyberinfrastructure.

The emails were meant to appear that they came directly from the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.

"It’s a guess, but our thought is that [it’s] a combination scare-ware (get people to shut things down or make changes in a hurry), and a character assassination against the guy named in it, AND a way to make the FBI scramble," Spamhaus tweeted when asked about the "ultimate goal" of the fake emails.

The emails came from the address eims@ic.fbi.gov and were signed with the message "stay safe."

We may be the last generation to have grown up in a free America...

I don't know how many people lived in North America in 19 century.

But now there are about 400 million.

Lets say in 50-100 years there is 1 billion people living in US.

I would say that is completely reasonable to expect that government control should grow with the population density in any area. That's simply to protect society from itself. If you look at history there are hundreds of cases where a violent minority forcibly overtook whole society, like Qaddafi's regime, Saddam Hussein's regime, Communists in USSR, North Korea, Vietnam, Nazis in Germany, Spain, Italy, Argentina etc. etc.

A great example was post-war West Germany where Bader-Myhof terrorist group ( financed by East Germany ) literary held hostage West Germany's democratically elected government. To put it in context West Germany's security was very weak because in aftermath of WW2 Germany was perceived as a threat so allies deliberately weaken it's state security institutions.

As well, it is very educational learn that it took Nazis only 4 months to abolish all democratic institutions, including ban on all political parties and stopping of independence of judicial system. Soviet Communists abolished democratic institutions practically instantly.

I am literally saying, in order to protect democracy and freedom of speech one needs more control over probable violent threats to society.

Everything that guy wants to achieve can be achieved through elected officials. There is no need for his threats, just some patience.

He would argue something different - essentially that he has waited long enough. He'll also dance around what he's said and not quite admit to it. It isn't as if there aren't real issues behind some of what he is saying, but this is about HIM and the need for attention and minor celebrity. Exactly like Al Sharpton, minus the track suit and golden coffee saucer. If ET appeared and handed him a box with a button on it that would 100% eliminate every injustice he can list he wouldn't push it because it would mean he has to go back to work like the rest of us.

I sincerely doubt Dr. King would have anything positive to say about him or his movement - which isn't quite BLM it's some nasty local variant. Facing down fire hoses and dogs with non-violent protest requires the courage of your conviction - real balls. Screaming and threatening people does not, that's being a bully.

That's 99% of politicians. Politicians create job for themselves by dividing people.

Caroline Dineage a British MP is attacking social media companies that publish Russell Brand's "conspiracy theories", trying to tell the likes of rumble, tiktok etc what they can and can't publish online. Here’s what Rumble has responded to the British Parliament:

My second phone, which is newer than my main phone, updated to Android 14 today...Nothing too different with this new OS, I just wanted to mention that if you go to the settings and 'about phone' tab and then 'software information' tab, this Android version has a space game on the logo emblem if you continually click on the 'Android 14' text...Usually Android does something simple with their various logos matching to the version when clicking on them, but this time its a space game flying on a small ship visiting different star systems...When you see the Android 14 logo on that setting page simply click and hold on the logo and in a moment it will change into the space game...
