If he was smart, he would just fess up. I doubt the penalty is severe for what he did. He could use a lame excuse like prescription drugs clouded his judgment.Jussie Smollett criminal trial to move forward after judge denies to dismiss case
A judge on Friday denied a last-ditch effort to dismiss a criminal case against actor Jussie Smollett, who is accused of lying to police when he reported that he was the victim of a racist, anti-gay attack in downtown Chicago in January 2019.
An attorney for the former "Empire" actor said Smollett's rights were being violated since he had already performed community service and given up a $10,000 bond under a previous deal with Cook County prosecutors to drop charges. "A deal is a deal. That’s ancient principle," attorney Nenye Uche said.
But Judge James Linn noted that Smollett's case now was being led by a special prosecutor appointed by another judge, an arrangement that he would not upset.
Linn said jury selection in Smollett's trial would start Nov. 29.

This is an interesting timeline of the corporate power plays happening and that have happened recently within Disney and more specifically, the MCU and heavily discussing Lucasfilms...
I've never listened to her music, but I certainly applaud her getting her freedom.Britney is FREE! Judge officially terminates pop star's $60M conservatorship that allowed father Jamie to control almost every aspect of her life
Britney Spears' conservatorship is officially over, after a judge in Los Angeles ended the 13-year arrangement. Dozens of fans in #FreeBritney t-shirts had gathered outside the Stanley Mosk Courthouse on Friday. The hearing got underway at around 1.30pm. Earlier, Britney herself wore a '#FreeBritney' t-shirt. Friday's hearing was expected to be the final step in dissolving the conservatorship that has prevented Britney from making her own decisions about finances and medical care for nearly 14 years. Judge Brenda Penny ruled on the petition that Britney filed earlier this year. Ahead of the hearing, the 39-year-old pop star's fiancé Sam Asghari shared a brief Instagram video of her modeling a #FreeBritney t-shirt that features the tagline: 'It's a human rights movement' Sam, 27, proudly donned the same statement-making tee in black and even got the couple's dog in on the action. He cryptically captioned the post: 'Loading…' While Jamie's lawyers filed a motion agreeing with Britney that the conservatorship should end, he insisted that there was no wrongdoing on his part and he was always looking out for his daughter's interests.

Kevin Smith is so out of touch, he's a mess...
I'm not surprised.Maybe the boards of directors or the investors of various media properties will realize that social experimentation and agendas are costing them too much money. In today's world, there are far, far more choices for consumers than 30+ years ago. That means, if you already have a fanbase for a franchise, it's a bad idea to alienate them. It makes more sense to create new franchises that set out from the beginning to cater to whoever they hope the new audience will be. That strikes me as a win win strategy instead of the revisionist approach they seem to be addicted to presently.
