UFO's sighting: Crestview Elementary School, Opa-Locka, Florida, April of 1967.

I was in the 6th grade at Crestview Elementary School, in Miami, (Post Office, Opa-Locka, Fla,) During recess in April 1967, I and hundreds of others students from Crestview and a few teachers, witnessed 3 oval shaped objects coming through a few clouds, on a mostly a clear day, directly over our heads. My teacher gathered our class into a line. We watched as the two smaller of the three oval objects, appeared to be dancing around the larger oval shaped object coming down towards us. The larger object, seemed to be the size of a cruise ship, but it's shape was oval and cigar shaped and shiny metal like. I saw the large object land in the field near our school. I didn't see where the other two objects went.

What seemed like hours before long, we were told to go home. I was one of the students who rode our bikes to the landing area not far from our school. We stepped over a burm and found a field of weeds and grass that appeared to be charred and smashed into an oval shape and seemed to be the size of a large boat. There was no object there, but the remains of something that had recently been lying there.

Before long, men in uniforms and news press started to interview kids. I listened to a boy who had the same accounting as me. The following day, the Miami Herald told the story and said that it was helicopters on maneuvers from the nearby Homestead Air Force Base. I knew otherwise, and understand now that they had to state that to avoid mass hysteria.

In the years to follow, I took my children to the sighting location, as they had heard my accounting for many years. This was in the 90's and we found that in the same location, as where I saw he UFO land, was now the location of the Miami Football Stadium (off Miami Gardens Drive and 183rd Street) which had been built, after they closed the Orange Bowl Football Stadium. The stadium amazing stands in the very sight where I saw UFO land and come to think of it, the UFO was about the size of the stadium floor!

Great thread mate and Preston Dennett goes into more detail about that incident in the interview below.

He also discusses his research into school sightings and all the many other cases he uncovered.

Thought it was well worth a listen from 20:10.

Cheers.

I just listened to a bit of it! He mentions "displays" Couldn't agree more. This is a tactic for long-term contact.

No worries mate Preston mentions how the Crestview school case happened 'one year to the day' after the Westall school case and then goes into more detail about other school cases.

Following the Hillsdale sightings, pioneering researchers Coral and Jim Lorenzen (the founders of the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization, APRO) realized that UFOs were strangely attracted to schools. They also had a theory as to why. In March 1966, with no knowledge of the Westall High School encounter about to occur two weeks later, Coral Lorenzen wrote, “We have mentioned previously that an outstanding number of sightings of UFOs have been made in the vicinity of or over schoolyards. If the appearance of the objects over cities for long periods of time and repeatedly during the last year indicates an attempt at indoctrination, it may be that a peaceful contact may be attempted, and that schools are being overflown and the craft are exhibiting themselves there for a very good reason: Children are definitely less subject to dogmatic or pre-conceived notions than adults. Perhaps the visitors hope that exhibitions over schools will influence the population to some extent.”

At the same exact time that the Lorenzens noticed this pattern, pioneering researcher Raymond Fowler discovered the same thing. “During the month of April 1966,” writes Fowler, “I received a total of twenty-two reports that were evaluated as being in the ‘unknown’ category. Six of these involved UFOs hovering over or around school buildings.”

Also in 1966, researcher John Keel was investigating and documenting a wave of sightings and unexplained events in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Like the Lorenzens and Fowler, Keel noticed that a large number of his cases involved schools. After investigating the case of a landed UFO, he wrote, “I was perturbed to find that it was right next to the Duncan Falls Elementary School. An unusual number of sightings and Fortean events seem to be concentrated around schools, and the largest percentage of witnesses consists of children between the ages of seven and eighteen.”

Other researchers have noticed this pattern. On February 16, 2018, researcher Shannon Quinn wrote, “There are countless sightings all over the world, but some of the most compelling stories come from not just one person, but an entire group of people who witnessed a strange phenomenon together. For whatever reason, schools have become a common place for UFO sightings to occur. True believers think that young schoolchildren are less threatening to aliens, so it makes them easier to approach with their messages from beyond our galaxy.”

Researcher Marcus Lowth, after investigating the Crestview Elementary School case in Opa-locka, discovered a long history of schoolyard encounters and writes, “UFO sightings witnessed over schools by multiple students is not quite as rare as one might think.”[/size]

A bit cheesy but here's a vid on the Crestview school case.

Cheers.

Yeah, please take a note of that case. Its one of my most favourite cases because on it's second visit UFO displayed a typical warp drive characteristics. UFO was able to disappear and re-appear from a plain sight. That clearly illustrates bending of space-time that's explained in Einstein's General Relativity. Only problem is how do they do it with so little energy. Anyhow, that bending of space-time would potential enable UFOs to travel faster then speed-of-light without breaking laws of physics as we know them.

Thanks for finding a news article! always wanted to check the original source.

The Crestview incident is a fascinating one. Unfortunately, contrary to Westall, few witnesses have come forth and none have actively been trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together as has happened with Westall and Ariel. Too bad !

Yes, that "Close Encounters" "reenactment is fun to watch. Unfortunately "Close Encounters" was notorious for embellishing or transforming some of the details of the accounts they featured. So we can't really rely on these clips to get a good idea of what really happened.

As an example, the reenactment they did about Westall is really cool-looking but seriously misrepresents what really happened. In that clip, we see the craft landed in front of over a hundred students and Viktor is portrayed approaching it under the eyes of all those students, while in fact only Viktor claimed to have approached a landed craft and none of the other students were witness to it.

So let's remember most of those clips are dramatic embellished reenactments with a lot of fantasy thrown in. Better go check the source material !

That's why finding this original account in OP is so important, so we can strip down dramatic embellishments.

Now, the original account is not mentioning UFO appearing and despairing and UFOs coming back the next day?

Absolutely! The video reconstructions in so many UFO documentaries are so terrible and wrong that they end up doing more damage than good, It's as if they give a story to the art department and don't explain it at all and say "Come up with something cool!" Same thing applies to many history documentaries and Hollywood productions too, unfortunately.. Sad too. Imagine the movie Troy with accurate armour for example --it would have been so much more amazing.

The Crestview objects sound like they could be very similar to the Sternenschiff seen in 1851, and the objects seen over the stadium in Florence. About the same size and shape --and metallic. It doesn't seem like there are any good drawings done by witnesses of the Crestview objects =odd
