The end for Doctor Who.

The Jodie Whittaker era failed

Putting aside the fact that making the Doctor female was a stupid idea, she did not have the worst portrayal. That would be the untalented Peter Calpaldi who regularly dialed in his performance followed by the uninterested Chritopher Eccelston who quit a week into his run. and the one dimensional Colin Baker who strangled his assistant.

Making the Doctor a lesbian is flat out wrong. Yaz can pine for the doctor all she wants. So did Rose and Martha. In the classic series Ace was Bisexual but the show never rammed her sexuality front and center. hand holding and a glance or two was enough. My oldest daughter who is a lesbian never accepted this Doctor as a lesbian.

If Whittaker has any blame it is in the public relations dept her contempt for the fan base and lack of respect for the history of the show. I referred to this Doctor as Doctor Karen.

But the blame goes squaerley on Chris Chibnal. Who threw 50 year of history down the toilet.

Hi guys, i'm pleased to see that there are true Dr Who fans over there in the states. .. And not just the odd politically correct occasional viewer that is cheering the 'ever-so-progressive-show' on for daring to physically castrate the grand old Gallifreyan [and british institute] by regenerating the vacillatingly antiquated time lord into "A Bi-Sexual Woman!"
Which the BBC in it's infinite wisdom eagerly green lighted along with the codicil that the outgoing 'successful' production runners/writers etc were to be replaced by a distinctly inferior team! ... i.e Chibnall's p.c crew and the show was to be headlined with a [quite frankly] amateurish actress that it was patently clear from the off, just as much 'out of her depth' as the woefully inadequate sidekicks and the scripts she was given!
Right, rant over! ... To cut a long story short... It is my belief that such actions sanctioned by 'someone' in authority at the BBC may well have been an attempt by them at slyly killing off the Doctor once and for all, by means of disguising this blatant dilution of the prestigious nye-on 60 year old character as being "the progressive thing to do, in order to facilitate a much needed political corrective direction for the neanderthal-numpties to be led into by their much righteous and smarter controllers!"
...Anyway, did you guys catch the latest piss-poor offering that we were treated to on Easter Sunday? ... if you haven't [and are really bothered?] ... here's a clip for you to watch....

We all have our own opinions of course [much to the chagrin of the BBC] ... and mine is that it was just as heart-wrenchingly awful as the rest of the Chibnall/Whittaker collaborations, even though it featured my childhood nightmare's "The Sea Devils"... and believe me, i'm not alone in this assessment as this particular Easter Special is in fact the all time record breaker for being the least tuned into episode of the 870 official Dr Who T.V outings with a mere 2.2 million overnight viewership figure. ... Doctor Who Viewing Figures: Legend of the Sea Devils Sinks in the Overnights - Blogtor Who
.... from which I think this segment sums it up the best....
the remarkable fact that the special was actually beaten by a repeat of a year old Antiques Roadshow on BBC 2.

Cheers.

Hi guys, i'm pleased to see that there are true Dr Who fans over there in the states. ..

Yes indeed, I enjoy the more recent versions of the Doctor, with David Tennant's Tenth Doctor being the most brilliant incarnation and Matt Smith coming in as second best...Glad to see Russell Davies coming back to get Doctor Who back on track after the horrible past few years we've had with Chibnall and Whittaker...I am most curious as to who will be the next Doctor, I feel certain Davies will have a man reprise the role as it should be...Once the Doctor regenerates into a man again all will be right with the Doctor Who world...I still rewatch David Tennant's episodes as the Doctor, so many of those Tenth Doctor episodes are very rewatchable...

From my daughter's FB
I have no issues with the fact that she was the female doctor, Michelle Gomez proved that having a woman play a main character (aka Missy/The Master) can be absolutely amazing, let's be honest she was epic! But I just couldn't get past the first few episodes with Jodie I've watched every episode from Christopher Eccleston onwards, and I went in with an open mind, but it felt like the writers were really pushing female stereotypes onto the character of the Doctor just because they happened to regenerate as a female. I'm talking about how she came across as proper maternal, wanting to coddle and look after/save everyone she came across. The whole point of Doctor Who is, yes the Doctor saves people, but there's always hard decisions to be made so there has to be that hard edge present to the character, and from what I saw that just wasn't present in Jodie's portrayal. Maybe one day I'll go back and try to get past it and see what happened further in, but from what I've heard the writer's really didn't do her any justice anyway.

Doctor Who regenerates into who?

I saw part of that episode because of the David Tennant appearance...Apparently David Tennant will be the Doctor for 3 episodes along with Donna Noble returning... There was something the Master did along with the help of the Daleks and Cybermen that caused this brief regeneration into the Tenth Doctor...
