Star Wars: Andor
The prequel series to Rogue One. It starts slowly but spins up by episode 3.
I enjoyed it but perhaps it says something that my two favorite characters were his very likable droid and the flawed Empire officer. 7/10
This series is a spin-off of a spin-off, isn't it? How much more can they scrape the Star Wars barrel?

Yep, a shame market forces have made it essentially a toy franchise. The earnings represented seem reflected in the amount of creative thought employed. In the last series of the Mandalorian an entire episode was devoted to his new ship.
On the plus side, the droid in Andor is good and may be inspirational for roboticists.

I've heard some slightly mixed reviews but overall most say this series is surprisingly good...It may be too little too late for the Star Wars franchise after many of the failed previous abominations Disney's Lucas Films has produced, time will tell...I haven't watched Andor yet, I do like the Mandalorian series though...

I just watched this film, and I didn't really like it. I am a big fan of the original Top Gun movie and have seen it literally dozens of times. Most of those times were 'comfort watching' as they say that children do when they watch a small set of movies over and over again. For my brother and I, Top Gun was one of those movies.

The Top Gun: Maverick movie is filled with what they call 'fan service', where there is in almost every scene a piece of memorabilia from the first movie, there are flashbacks with footage from the original film, and so often a scene is constructed to touch on something that happened before. A lot of this is forced and always made me cringe. I am familiar with what happened in the first movie, which is why I was watching the sequel. I do not need to be constantly reminded. The plot is rather tedious and the aerial action far more far-fetched than anything that happened in Top Gun, thanks to CGI. Maverick's skills and achievements in the first movie were relatively modest compared to this one, where he is essentially playing a fighter pilot version of the Ethan Hunt character from his Mission Impossible film series.

Not too bad. 8/10 maybe ? I must be getting old, a bit hard to follow in spots. Haven't been following the movies, Christopher Waltz as Blofeld is great!

This is an interesting point of view, stating Star Wars isn't really Star Wars without the Jedi, the Force, or the Sith...He doesn't bash or belittle Andor but praises it...

Another delightful animated film. Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold
No surprise, this is a straight up comedy. The best thing about it is that the two worlds are intertwined so well that they practically seem like they belong together. A couple of gems:

Batman: [Realizing his error] He doesn't know directions.
Daphne Blake: Duh, he's a dog.
The thing is, Scooby is literally driving the van at that very moment. :cwl:

Batman: There's no possible way that should've worked.[Immediately after Shaggy and Scooby pull off one of their stunts]
Velma Dinkley:
"Just go with it." - Exhibiting self awareness of the preposterousness of her show. :wink3:

9/10

I decided to start watching more Scooby-Do. So far, no TV shows, just movies. I've limited myself as to how back to go, so that the animation will have reasonably good quality. So far, I have watched "Where's my Mummy" and "Zombie Island." Both pretty good, 8/10. I'm currently watching Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost (1999).
@Rikki may find this interesting.
The film was criticized by religious groups upon its release, they claimed The Hex Girls were "of the Devil, luring young girls into Wicca witchcraft." (Wikipedia)

I'm also watching the dubbed version of Ip Man, which is on Tubi. Gorgeous, historic setting. (Will also take me a while.)
Finished Ip Man a month ago. It's quite good. I think it its the first down to earth martial arts movie I ever watched.
I'm now watching Ip Man 2. The non-dubbed version is available on Freevee, but I opted for the dubbed version on Tubi.

Old and corny but one of my favorites. It always came on WPIX channel 11 around Thanksgiving. You see this you're looking at a 1946 version of Beetlejuice.
