Big green ****er came by so say hello yesterday. From this angle he looks like he might want to rampage across downtown Tokyo.

Yeah. Parts tell me to brush their teeth daily. Not the first time I've heard that. OK. Go Ahead, you go first and show me .........

Are cats teeth the same as dogs teeth? Dogs don't get cavities they do get receding gums so you have to remember to brush around the gum line thoroughly.

Cats don't have as many teeth. Dogs and cats don't get cavities quite like we do but they have their own set of disgusting issues. Root canals are not unheard of but more often than not the bad teeth just get yanked. All I was doing was learning the terminology and how to mark up the chart when the vet examines the teeth.

Years ago my first wife wanted to brush dog teeth. She got peanut butter flavored toothpaste and a rough finger condom thing as a brush. The dog at the time was the one the shelter couldn't unload because he was a biter - complete with a red bordered file with stars. That's what I meant - you want to brush his teeth work it out with him and let me know how it goes :) Only got so many fingers and they don't grow back.

They really have to be anesthetized for a full dental prophylaxis. Much easier on all concerned and it means a much more thorough job.

The cat I had in college didn't have hardly any teeth from a young age and still lived to be around 15. Eating and even killing mice was never a problem for her. I think alot of things pushed by vet's offices are just upsells with limited benefit. I'm really tired of them pushing me to buy hundreds of dollars in flea control stuff when my pets rarely have fleas. Even when they do, a $10.00 flea collar takes care of it. I do understand why they do it though, given that I used to be a mechanic. Actual needed repairs really are not that profitable, and upsells provide alot of cushion. I don't agree with it, but I do understand why it happens.
