Those on the Right will attack posters from the left
And vise versa, its been going both ways these days, funny people only see one side of that...The left and right both have extremists who regularly engage and attach one another...Both the left and right of politics are the problem, there are those who are close to center and want work together as one country politically but the extremists on both sides drown that out...

So why not start "The Alien Political Debate" section - Anything goes except no direct ad hominem attacks on
posters and no obscenities.

That's stated in our rules and terms but as witnessed last election cycle it happened anyway...Like I said, I have no problems with political discussions as long as they are civil, debates can get heated but usually remain respectful...The intolerant hate one side has for the other is ridiculous but its perpetuated by the few extremists...The left cannot point fingers and accuse the right of something no more than the right can do the same to the left when in reality both sides are guilty of the same nonsense, both sides do the same exact thing and call the other out for it...Anyway, you or anyone else is welcome to start a thread and we will see how it goes, hopefully an engaging but civil discussion or debate ensues...

Agreed. Probably unrealistic to expect zero political discourse - we live in interesting times. No reason not to be polite, we're all sitting in our underwear :)

Nastiness is people in forum behavior, doesn't even have to be political even though that has the fastest fuse. I belong to two other unrelated hobby forums that are significantly larger than AE. I only post for very specific reasons - to sell something, to find a piece of info. They can be harsh, even the moderators. But here I can relax and we should all be able to do that without getting cat**** nasty to one another over some transient topic.

We all need to take a tip from Obi-Wan - the truths we hold so dear depend largely on our point of view.

As above, so bellow

Exactly that.

Problem is that the loudest guy/gal wins. Not the smartest or one who done the best homework.

100 years ago, people like Alex Jones were running carnivals. Unfortunately, they have now discovered something way more easy and lucrative.

Strange, insensitive imbecile. The original conspiracy theory was so crazy that only dimwits could have bought into it, and only someone with a sadistic streak would have promoted it.

At the first whiff of a lawsuit he should have done an instant about face, apologized, and announced that it was all satire. But I guess he felt that would ruin his standing as the "great conspiracy exposer" and he would lose his audience. His lawyer even tried to get him off the hook by characterizing him as a performance artist, but he refused to go along.

Alex Jones is a narcissist, a witness testifies. And he’s undermining his own attorneys.

I hope the judgments against him keep coming.
As for his show, as it superficially presents itself as being about truth, but really has no such purpose - it's worthless.

We're not going away. We're not going to stop': Alex Jones vows to CONTINUE 'questioning' school shootings after bombshell $1B verdict over his Sandy Hook lies - the highest defamation payout EVER

Jurors in Alex Jones' defamation suit have ordered him to pay nearly a billion dollars to the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre. Despite the massive sum, however, Jones says he is 'not going away' and 'not going to stop.' The Infowars host repeatedly claimed that the 2012 massacre, which left 20 students and six teachers dead, was a 'hoax' and had been 'staged'. A six-person jury has ruled on the 17th day of the hearing that he will be liable to pay $965million to the 15 plaintiffs, which include families and a FBI agent. It is the largest defamation suit damages figure in US history, surpassing a 1997 case where a brokerage firm sued the Wall Street Journal and won $222.7million. In August, Jones was found liable to pay $49.3million during his first of three Sandy Hook related trial, which took place in Austin. The amount combines the damages for defamation, slander and emotional distress, with Jones ordered to pay a huge sum to the parents of Jesse Heslin who died in the attack. This trial took place in Waterbury, Connecticut, just miles away from where the tragic shooting occurred in December, 2012.

I read that Jones can’t declare bankruptcy in order to get out of paying damages. If he can’t pay, does he go to jail?
No., as it is a civil case. The truth is, in the US it is not altogether rare that someone will win a judgment, yet not be able to actually collect. Sometimes this is because the loser of the lawsuit is just a deadbeat lacking the money or assets to pay up. Other times, it is difficult to latch onto the person or entity's assets in order to seize them, due to their tricky maneuvering. From my limited understanding of this case, the plaintiffs' lawyers have a lock on much or most of Jones' assets, and so they will just seize whatever is not legally excluded.*

* OJ Simpson, for example, had one or more legal judgements against him, but his NFL and Screen Actors pensions are legally excluded from seizure.

Oh Alex, Joe McCarthy would be quite proud of you! Were the defamation trails held in state or federal court? Where I live at least, the ability of the winner to collect depends totally on how aggressive they are about pursuing the judgment. As a general rule courts don't go out of their way to ensure compliance with civil judgments unless required by law, i.e. child support.

I believe that some conspiracies do happen, but they aren't as large or far reaching as some would have you believe. Biggest problem is, the more people who are involved and the longer it goes on, the chances for someone to spill their guts increases exponentially. How can dozens or even hundreds of people do a perfect job of keeping secrets for decades? There are always people willing to rat out mobsters and motorcycle gangs, so why would this be any different?

There have been bunches of people come forward (with varying levels of credibilty) and state they were part of government UFO activities over the decades. Everything I have read indicates that the higher ups in our military openly stated that UFOs were most likely ET in the 1940's and early 50's. Now, of course they weren't going to divulge exactly what they knew about them but they weren't operating under the extreme gag order that has persisted until very recently.
