I would be more concerned about the writers and production head which is changing. They are far more likely to change the direction of the show.
It depends on ones perspective,,,,,I really liked Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi...and the River Song stories.....but I agree that some of the episodes were a bit hard to swallow. This has already happened a few years ago, Russell T. Davies wrote great episodes and left the series when David Tennant left as the Doctor...As a result the writing suffered for the last two Doctors, occassionally having a good episode mixed in...
So whilst I hate a woman is taking the role a man should, I think having fresh writers may help more than hurt in this case...

I also think it would be better for continuity and tradition to keep Dr Who a man but it might be interesting,,,, and if it doesn't work out with ratings and fan appeal they will change it back.
Am puzzled about the time lord laws, twelve male regenerations in a row suggest it is not random.
Alternatively it could conceivably be the doctors preference?!
Nah, a toilet is a toilet. They will have to change the Tardis bathroom and toilet facilities. .

It could be a pattern of experience that develops through time where the next incarnation would possibly be a reflection of the subconscious of the previous incarnation...If one time Lord were more self conscious than another than he or she could choose the path of regeneration, maybe perhaps choosing to stay a man for most of his long lives of regenerations...
Wouldn't a male Dr Who be more fitting for regeneration I mean he does have to handle testosterone fuelled battles with Alien species .
An abomination is better than an obamanation.Well, I think it's an abomination but I'm willing to give it a go and watch a few episodes, can't say if I'll change my view of this horrible decision...They've ruined the show enough since David Tennant...
So I've given this 13th Doctor a try, I really did because I like Doctor Who and have for a long time...The show made a spectacular reemergence with the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston which lead to the stellar years of the 10th Doctor, David Tennant...Since then, the 11th Doctor was brilliantly played by Matt Smith although the writing suffered a bit here and there...The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi was okay, he had a few good solid episodes but overall flat in which both writing and acting suffered...This 13th Doctor is an abomination, a total mess, they have strayed too far from the core energy of the show...I'm very disappointed, River Song said it in an episode with the 11th Doctor, something to the effect of; The Doctor will rise so high and then fall so far down...
