The disappearance of Alien Hub without explanation

As well as a number of people creating multi accounts for all different reasons... Like happens in most forums, many join but never post, quite a number claim they didn't receive a confirmation email and so rejoined again under another name and email... and then you get those who were were banned time and time again and kept on rejoining under another name and a new email address...

I remember a few of these.....but those people were very easy to figure out once they came back.

I wonder how long it is before some of those lunatics find their way here.

As Above So Below
A great deal of them were not 'real' people as such but spammers and bots accumulated over 15 years, many whose accounts never got to the stage of being verified by email...

This is true, one thing I like about Xenforo is good checks in place to filter out spammers and unwanted bots...I could't even count the amount of spammers and bots hitting this site sometimes days in a row for over a year now...A third of them try to make accounts here with strange email addys and generated user names all mainly from Russia, some from China too...

Stay away, bots!
It reminded me of one chat room, it was my first internet experience... People would write asl and a bot Marvin always answered: this isn't a singles bar. Good times:D

Wouldn't it be interesting to see what AU/AH is discussing right now on some Parallel Earth where it was never shut down?

Excuse me.
I have a portal to pass through.

I can't imagine it will take them long... There's a few that know about this place, though, and haven't come along. I guess they can't be bothered with the trolling any more. Who knows, maybe they found pastures new, that will allow themselves to lord it over others.

I never noticed too much trolling - We had many people who were true disciples of Alien/UFO/Occult, etc,
Some of them may have, and may still, get carried away with the subject at hand and some were and still are perpetual skeptics of anything not proven as absolute fact - Many of them, us, and wanna be aliens are already here.

Merle told me about this place by messaging me on one of those older forums which seem to have a click of 'incrowders' paying attention to each other much more than any newcomers.

And talking about old timers from AH - Does anyone remember 'Joe the Waiter' ? - Who was on AH {then called 'alien-ufos.com} and was a compulsive skeptic and seeker of the truth - posted heavily for a while and then just disappeared.

That's how I saw it too... sure there were a few trolls as in people who were outright rude or those who made stuff up for whatever reason they had I have no clue.

However, even the most outlandish claim made by someone does not immediately make that person a troll. Many genuinely believe in their own experiences, in their own views as to how they experience things and truely, who are any of us to be in a position to sit in judgement about someone's else's reality when we are not them to feel and know as they do?

I remember him alright... quite a prolific poster and then he just disappeared. I remember quite a number of posters from way back... even as far back as before 2003 in the late 1990s when alien-ufos.com first started on a free forum format and only had two forums (Aliens and UFOs and a General Forum) and it would sometimes be 3 or more days before someone posted.

Two posters in particluar before 2003. A German bloke who was formally science trained and a skeptic and a British bloke called Saul who was a believer and they were always posting to each other and had the best ever amicable, most friendly and informative posts I have ever read.

.....and Saul, when he had enough posting for the day would say something like... I'm going now, need to go out and get a pizza... lol...

I understand the need for respect and tolerance of others views but UH got that politically correct in the end you could't call anyone out. Someone could say the just saw Elvis riding two jet propelled toasters with a fireman's hat on at 7:11, and you could never call them out on it without getting a rev. Respect is one thing but it can be taken to far.

I hardly ever got nailed mainly because not many people could figure what it was I was going about especially when I used Aussie strine....

Though I did cop a major 'what for' once...

Someone started a thread in the General Forum about what positive changes you want to make about yourself... All these people posted going on about how they wanted to change this or that or what things they wanted to do differently or try to be more tolerant as a person and all that....

So, I posted saying I'm happy as I am and see no reason why I would want to change anything about myself including all my bad disgusting habits... (I do tend to be a bit brazen at times how I say things lol)...

..... and someone posted back to me telling me how pathetic I was and what a bad attitude that was, how I should be ashamed of myself more so because I was a Moderator on the forum and that it was my duty to set a good example... ra ra ra the person went on...

a fine attitude (I am happy as I am) and way of being merle. negativity, easily 'projected' and otherwise, abounds in this world.

This was a bit later but I remember once banging on abut the pyramids with all the latest wild theories about how they were built by aliens etc, got into an argument with Andrew I think his name was. Little did I know that he was a regular visitor to the pyramids, and archeologist and new more about the pyramids than I ever would. More humble pie on my part, god I put on a lot of weight due to excessive consumption of humble pie. He burst all my bubbles and about all I had left for a parting shot was, "I spose your going to tell me Santa's not real next!" Lol, we became friends in the end.

And our dear friend 22, I soon learned to not argue when 22 posted, lol, I still bear many crucifixion scars from 22 from those days. In the end when I saw someone dumb enough to take her on I would say, "Hang on give me 5 mins to go get popcorn, this is gonna be fun"

Finally learned the meaning of a little poem my dad used to say to me when I was growing up.

A wise old Owl lived in an Oak,
More more he heard, the less he spoke,
The less he spoke, the more he heard.
So take a tip from this wise old bird.

Wise old bloke my Dad was :)

I remember Allison who was an Egyptologist who regularly went on digs in Egypt......learned a lot form here. I learned a lot during chats about thee pyramids and the more I learned the more it became obvious that smart human beings built them all by themselves.

One of the reasons I always liked AU was how much I learned....it also helped in certain studies I'd done over the years.

I agree with the old owl.....lol....wish more people took that to heart as many people are proving the scarecrow right these days.

My father is a wise old bird too.
