Tribute to those who made our Memories

Hi All,
I am a bit of an odd bod when it comes to Music. All my life the only music I could ever rely on to NOT make me sad has been METAL, and Heavy Rock. Metal is my roots, and where I will always call home.
My blood is made of Jack Daniels from Lemmy, Rammstein, Led Zep, OT3P
You name it. I will get into a bloodbath with a Skin head in the mosh-pit in a heartbeat, well, perhaps would have once :) Not so much now, but if I had my sons with me.....Hell yeah :)
But I will be listening to Sabbath one minute, then tear up at a kid on XFactor the next.
I can listen to classical music with awe, Love PinkFloyd, Kraftwerk, Tomita, William Orbit!!!
Anyway to the point.
This thread is dedicated to the artists that either helped shaped who you are, or you remember with the greatest of fondness from your earliest of years.
Or the songs that moved you to tears.

Here are a couple of mine to start off with...

The earliest song I can remember, played a small blue and white vinyl covered record player with a flip top lid.
I was only 4 or 5. But I played it over and over and over....

Here is one we all remember, but imagine being there on the night to see this live, yes there ore better versions, but this is history.

And Last but not least, a recent song, with a singer that changed the world. I can't listen to this without tears, because I hear my life in his words.
And what a love story, what would we all give for love like this...
The man in Black

Oh God, and how could I have forgotten the song that made me the romantic that I am today...

Running Bear...

God Goosebumps again

My next reply was going to be where I'd have gone into great detail about songs and how they made me feel at certain times in my life, to this day. But you know what? I think I'm gonna keep that to myself. I'm not gonna be where there's no sense of humour.

Your call mate, everyone has songs that takes them to places they don't like to think about, its all a choice. Pick a happy memory instead and enjoy and share it.

I first came across this song sung by Tom Waits in a black and white film, something about lonely and lost people... can't remember.... but I love this song and the lyrics tell a story....

truly love his stuff. 'specially his 'waltzing matilda', 'the piano has been drinking' and 'step right up'. a fine musician and fine character to boot.

God Merle,
When my Mum and Dad were still here, that house was a home, full of love....
Now when I drive past, there gone, it is a house with no home.
That hit home.

Strictly speaking this one doesn't qualify, but I guess we can excuse it through the bloodline.
Willie Nelson's son Lucas,
Close your eyes can you tell the difference :)

sigh.... Willie Nelson... When he was going to come to Australia for a concert my son booked himself and me a prime ticket to see him because he knew I loved his music so much... The biggest disappointment ever was that he cancelled his tour and well... my heart was broke in many pieces.....

When I used to travel into the remote inland desert where I lived part time and worked for a number of years I would drive alone with my mad Aussie kelpie dog and two way radio for company and it would take me 13 hours from from one home to the other... It was an isolated trip, hardly any traffic, mainly road trains (trucks) and I would have a selection of songs from a few singers which I would play over and over again.... and I would dream...
