It does look like a perfect field of fire from the high ground. Looks like the Maginot Line in France with the style of guns turrets.

Its overlooking a small town of only 17'000 ppl. Think its a 12 cm cannon

Its a lot of firepower placed there for some strategic & tactical reason.

Its quite unique for its purpose in the wider geographic region.

Yes they do look like 5'' guns.......though I did find some fortifications in coastal Finland that had some 11'' guns.

Is it north or south of the arctic circle?

So its not in Finland, Norway or the neighboring republic, near the arctic circle and in country that has been held by both finland and Russia.....am
I right here so far?

Ha. Now even I got confused..:laugh8:

When blasting out the bedrock in the mountain they used black powder In order to not cause exessive fracturing

They could have used ******** which was invented by a famous person who lived in the country you should investigate further.

Boden Fortress.....thanks Alfred Nobel finished it for me......

Some military historians say it saved our asses here from the Nazis during WW2. They wanted the area because of its iron ore fields..

The russians never came that way either.. So I guess the scare tactics worked out OK

Today. We just call NATO in case of emergency

It was perfect defensive ground 100 years ago......but now a days such fixed defenses are pretty worthless.
