Think they have a giant bird eating one in Far North Queensland. This is him. They have a web net they keep on the ground to throw over unsuspecting birds.

I use to as a kid drop insects into spider webs to watch how the spider does it's thing.
I also once dreamed of a species of intelligent 8 leg creatures that looked much like a spider. Dressed in silver suits and walked on the 4 rear legs and had 4 arms but could run on all 8 legs as a spider would.

I got a big black house spider living in my outside laundry. I was going to dong it one when it was little but I thought I would just leave it alone on the window. Its grown really big now I call her Wendy she never bothers me just minds her own business, catching flies and bugs. I just hope one day I don't go in there and find a big round white egg sack full of a million baby spiders , not sure about that one. The spider usually has a funnel to its web but this one has adapted a different design because of where its living. I got bitten once by a white tailed spider ( not a Wendy variety though ) and it put me in hospital for 4 days on a drip.

Kill it with fire before it lays eggs, and then shoot the remaining ashes to deep space.

You do realise is there are no spiders then we will have so many flies within one year ( if no spider kills them ) there will be a mass of flies the size of the sun. Spiders can live 15 years so they are pretty good at getting rid of flies.

Yes the little devil got onto my pillow and bit me on the ear. Never even felt it seeing I was asleep at the time. Next thing I knew the left side of my face swelled up and I went to the Drs and they sent me straight to hospital. This is a photo of the White Tail spider.

Yes they have the White-tail spiders are vagrant hunters that usually roam at night. Instead of spinning webs and eating insects, they prefer to feast on other spiders, such as curtain-web spiders, daddy-long-legs, black house spiders and my left ear.

I 'spose we are quite fortunate in that our really poisonous spiders (Black Widow & Brown Recluse) are small and tend to keep to themselves. We have bunches of furry Wolf, Orb Weaver, and Fisherman spiders, which are much less dangerous to people.
