Doomsday Asteroid cannot be stopped

This isn't a hard problem.

The earth is moving about 30 km/s. Impacts from asteroids are in the 10 km/s to 60 km/s range.

If we launch a 10 ton steel disk (a large flat washer) and hit an asteroid at 60 km/s relative velocity this would alter its orbit.

A giant washer with an EMDrive is all you would need.

Changing Orbit

If you hit it at the point opposite in the orbit from where it might impact earth you can shift the orbit at the potential impact point up or down relative to the sun.

I was concerned for a minute, then I saw it's over 100 years from now.

I doubt I'd be alarmed if I was alive at that time......our technology might be advanced by that point. Or at least enough to nudge it off course. I'd also say we'll have new forms of propulsion by then as well.

:ok2:good enough argument

Still not over Earth would beat the hell out of the two. But there's only so much one person can do.
