Pet peeve: "something that a particular person finds especially annoying."
Grinds your Gears: see Family Guy episode on this.
Here's some of mine:
Grammar Nazis/Grammandos. These people are more focused on the misspelling or misuse of "you're/your" and other details of the English language (which btw has a really f*cked up and complex spelling structure, so naturally people will misspell things anyway by it's own design). They even have "spelling bees" and championships in the U.S. for this. Often we write stuff and it's faster thought than typing, or auto correct messses up. Anyway, they will simply ignore the message and just point out you can't spell. Ridiculous.
Complaining about FB. If you don't like FB, just don't sign up and don't waste time telling people to get off because you think it's best for you. The problem is generational.
30s and older: Generally cool with FB, because they grew up with, in their age wheelhouse. Simply be smart about it and use settings to customize.
20s: Reddit age wheelhouse. They will use FB messenger to contact EVERYONE they know because FB provides that value, but they will tell everyone to kill it otherwise because their mom is spreading smart-vaccination articles.
Teens: Snapchat/4chan
If you were older you would be cool with it. The younger people/millennials and younger, don't want to be around their PARENTS - who are in the FB wheelhouse age group. They use ads because WE DON'T LIVE IN A SOCIALIST STATE. Obviously they are a business and they provide your data for use of the platform and it's benefits. You can use the platform yourself for your benefit and business or pleasure, mostly to keep in touch with family and friends. You don't like that they put a description on top of the posts because you're a smart redditor who doesn't need that? Well get the f off FB and stay hidden behind an anonymous mask with ad blockers. This leads me to the next thing that grinds my gears.
Another thing - FB got scammed/fooled into providing data to the political agency that helped Trump get electoral college win. Instead of targeting them, they choose to target FB as the bad guy. Wrong.
Ad Blockers for every site. You want to extract and use the content someone created on a site, or their service, but you don't want to give anything back by way of advertising. Sure some of the ads, especially in the beginning of internets, were HORRIBLE and malware or virus prone. That has changed. Now, realistically I'm guessing people using ad blockers are due to going on porn and pirating sites (stealing other peoples stuff and saying you are helping them while you do it). Unless we have a socialist welfare in place, people have to make a living and advertising is one way integrated into a free market system, or limiting the service to a site. If you don't want to pay anything or see ads, don't go on the sites. Sites should recognize blockers and block the users from using the site.
That's all for now. I will add on to this list later. I'm probably not going to make any new friends with these views.
