Reddit smart is the way to go. There's a lot of very interesting forums "subreddits". I see benefits in using varied platforms such as FB, reddit, and forum like AE.

Some helpful notes might find useful, and surprising:
  • Need to customize - This place it's highly important to customize one's newsfeed with only those subreddits interested in or can help you, sprinkled in with some fun.
  • Can only comment if "adding to discussion" so no "cool bro" etc. You will get a time out.
  • Place demographic is dominated by millennials and younger (stereotypical men in 20s with computer backgrounds).
  • It is full with Facebook hate. I find it somewhat amusing how basically Reddit to them is the same thing that FB is for anyone 30 and over, it's purely a generational thing. They can't seem to see how people volunteer to give up their data for a service and it's not a big deal/lose your mind.
  • And they are obsessed with hiding their identities and behind anonymous masks. No Ads, no data sharing, only Free AND Quality (and don't record vertically). It's insane with this. I find myself replying "you got to make a living you know, we don't live in a socialist state" and I get downvoted to hell. You can explore these concepts on TheoryOfReddit as well.
  • There's "circle jerking" when people of the same mindset get together and either excessively upvote/downvote someone in a particular subreddit/discussion.
  • Good idea to get rid of NSFW (not safe for work) in preferences if you want to eliminate any of that. (or look for if you want it)

Here are some of my fav. What's yours?

I don't get that one.. can you elaborate? it's ruins of prior layers of civilization.. sort of like the Ancient Egypt discoveries recently?

or even read the books of anatoly fomenko (they are avaliable for free in pdf form in the web)

I might take a look at it.

Coincidentally that alt history forum has 162 members, only one more than here.
it was made more or less at the same time too
also a warning: this is HUGE rabbit hole, believe me, you will never see your city's old buildings the same way

I had to unsub from /aliens, ufos/, conspiracies, as the subject was getting too much everywhere. Some of the subs have been hi-jacked by small groups that push an agenda too (not neutral views).

Some other subreddits I like are /relationships and /confessions. One guy confessed he liked to dress up as and put on makeup (like a woman), and was about to tell his GF. Generally he wanted to get it off his chest (hence confession) and get encouragement form people. He did get most all positive replies. I replied that no straight guy would be into such a thing - and I got downvoted to hell. But later someone chimed in and said they were in fact in a relationship with someone who did dress up and he ended up being gay and she wasted many years of her life. So what I said was sensible and could be unfair to the GF if true.

I'm fine with homosexuals being themselves and no issue with. I also called J. Edgar Hoover "Gay Edgar Hoover" here before, and same thing, not trying to be derogatory for being homosexual - just stating what I think is a fact when figuring out reasons why he went about his ways, holding Congress by the balls, etc.

Late night show host James Gorden - great talent - and love his Drop the Mic. But I wondered and other too apparently -

Is James Corden Homosexual—I can't tell and there is barely any information on him on the web. • r/television

One answer - is this true? So bizarre if it is.

"Let me explain: James Corden is an english bloke and 90% of male bonding in England consists of playing 'gay chicken'. The ultimate aim of every guy is to out-gay all their friends and thus gain the dubious honour of 'winning'.. Corden as you may have guessed is an absolute master of the sport. Him and David Walliams.

Many social media outlets like twitter or like those subreddit threads you have to watch what you say, it can quickly be misunderstood or twisted around and you're suddenly a gay or lesbian hater or a racist...

Similar member count but look at the activity, they have just over 900 messages posted whilst we have over 34 thousand messages posted...

I like reddit. I used to lurk on Usenet all the time back in the day. I even read Brian Bethel's original Black-Eyed Kids post there, or at least such is my memory of events. reddit scratches the same itch Usenet once did for me.

My favorite subreddit is probably /AskReddit. Of course I love the paranormal themed threads there, which occur with regularity. I love to read of everyday people and their experiences. Of course I'm sure some are fictional but at times still entertaining.

He has/had a reddit account and I've seen him post there, mostly about video games iirc. He was interviewed for a podcast last year for Halloween too, I think. Or maybe the year before? Time kind of runs together.

Oddly - looking for his posts on reddit now and failing to find them. Hrm.

I don't really like Reddit because of their voting system. If you say anything that's not a part of group think you get voted down like crazy, and that then leads to not being allowed to post other places, so it's really covert censorship. I like some of their after dark scare stories is about all.

thats sadly quite true
making any anti-AATIP post in r/ufos is basically suicide
