Solar becomes Law in California

OK. Lets make water instead then. Reverse osmosis is a very power hungry process. Problem solved.

This doesn't solve the fact that the utilities are forced to pay for power they don't need at a price that isn't justified.

If renewable power was only purchased when needed - or at its actual spot value - solar installations would not make economic sense.

It is only the subsidies and mandates that make solar viable.

Absent mandates and subsidies most solar installations would go away.

As Above So Below
Absent mandates and subsidies most solar installations would go away.

Dissolving the mandates would probably be sufficient enough, leave the subsidies for those who wish to purchase solar...

Despite Casuals sound arguments and reasoning into the current problems.

I am a convinced bliever in this. Panels will have higher efficiencies and the power generating companies / market will adapt to handle the new situation.

Japan Does Energy Math - L'Ombre de l'Olivier

In Japan energy companies can give their generators priority access to the power lines.

There was a 32% investment decline in solar last year.

Japan has brought 8 new coal plants on line and is building 36 more.

China, and India are building coal plants like crazy and Germany is burning more coal than a decade ago.

What the hell is wrong with the US??? We should be burning more coal like the rest of the world!!!

Likewise, I'll try another listen in a couple hours, maybe my mind will be more acclimated...

I used a dictionary and took online help at some ozzy forums..

Basically what he says is that

1. He's 3 kW grid-tied system has a payback time of 7 years ( not accounting for capital costs )
2. Adding a Tesla Powerwall raises that time to 40 years !
3. Aliens or a micro meteorite smashed one of his panels.
