PEOPLE OF EARTH TV SHOW CANCELLED

PEOPLE OF EARTH, a subtle comedy about the alien abduction scenario that included a group of experiencers and their Grey, Reptilian and Nordic abductors, has been suddenly cancelled after 2 seasons (available on Amazon Prime). A 3rd season had previously been renewed, and scripts were ready when TBS inexplicably pulled the plug.

My opinion: This was a good show. The humor was subtle and charming. The stories were realistic yet whimsical enough to be heartwarming in a very twisted quirky manner. The show was quite original and have very favorable reviews in 2017. But as we know, playing to the lowest common denominator seems to be the rule now in TV, so this was cancelled while banal sitcoms were renewed.

Now, if the Sci-Fi channel actually cared a damn about Sci-Fi, it would pick up a gem like this. But instead they prefer Monster of the Week movies and cheesy B grade horror flicks. How many reruns of Futurama can we take?

Goodbye, PEOPLE OF EARTH. You tried.

I never saw it but it looks entertaining.
TBS (Turner Broadcasting Service) is run by a bunch of left wing radicals, so that move does not surprise me.

Excuse me, but what does a left wing political or economic viewpoint have to do with cancellation of a comedy about aliens and human abductees? You think such a show would do better under the narrow minded Bible thumping direction of a right wing TV network?

I think it would of had a much better chance had Hollywood been politically neutral with the decisions it makes. It use to be that way....many moons ago.
Why I hardly watch any TV anymore.
If it were not for the wife, I would get rid of my TV.
Not worth watching anymore.

I am shocked to hear the show was suddenly canceled. I have all the previous episodes saved on my DVR and I was looking forward to the new season. I never noticed anything political about the show, left-wing, or right-wing. I suspect they were probably having trouble finding sponsors because it was such a unique and oddball show. All TV shows nowadays seem to get pigeonholed into certain categories. People of Earth defied all categories.

I thought the writing was very clever and above the standard fare. If Sci-Fi channel actually wanted to be relevant (beyond reruns of Futurama and "monster of the week" movies) it would bring the show there. I really try to like the Sci-Fi channel but it seems all they do is show B grade horror movies. Drek.

When the Sci-fi channel killed off Stargate Universe that's when I stopped watching that channel...You are correct, they promote cheesy B to D type movies now, I think that channel needs to be pulled...

Even if Sci-Fi just showed reruns of classic TV shows like BABYLON 5, FIREFLY, STAR TREK, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, it would be a 1000 times more worthwhile. Now I think they get their movies from the "5 movies for a $1" bin at Walmart. They did have a couple new series but they were so relentlessly grim and negative. 13 Monkeys and something about a strain that turns people into monsters. How cheerful!

not surprising, people of earth is the only show that has ever tryed to show the bizzare trickster reality of the UFO phenomena in the big screen, the public doesnt want that, they want the spoopy aliens, because the interdimensional theory is too good for them to handle

The interdimensional theory is a cop-out, people want to understand things, not given the excuse its because of magic...

I found it intriguing but never actually watched the show. Now it does remind me of my Meanwhile comic strip. On the other hand we got this futuristic comedy. Looking forward to next season.

Interdimensional merely means that an advanced species has a way to open portals to come here from some other "reality". It can be totally scientific but far beyond our ability. Of course, Christians claim that the aliens are demons coming here from hell but the principle is the same. Since we have no way of knowing now, it seems pointless to argue over whether they come from another planet or another "reality" of time and space.

I could never get into this. The humor seemed banal (set to the lowest common denominator again) and do we really need yet another Star Trek TV show? I just found it boring.

The main problem I see with Star Trek is the producers keep wanting to take the story-line back to around or before the original series when Kirk and Spock existed instead of moving the story-line further into the future past the DS-9 and Voyager series...I think this is actually a sign of lazy writing, all the characters and history is set for the time period of the original series, it takes creativity to boldly go into the future with the series and I doubt they are finding the creativity they need so they stick with what's been already written and try to spice it up...Well its not working...

I think it is hard to come up with a technology in advance of what we see at the end of the current timeline. I don't think we can envision an even more advanced technology without totally restructuring civilization, which no TV show is going to attempt. They could continue the story and just assume a stagnant technology. I just find it hilarious that in Star Trek everyone has to communicate with external devices. I predict that within 100 (probably much less) years, humans can have brain implants that will access the internet and communicate with others. Say bye bye to the phone company as humans will be connected internally.

TV shows do that all the time though, Star Trek the original series had technology which was vastly more advanced then anything operational or in development when that series was made...They explain it off in various ways so they don't have to get too detailed on how the stuff works, like Doctor Who does...

Star Trek producers could at least have the series in the setting of where DS-9 left off, there are very interesting aspects of DS-9 and Voyager that a whole series can be written about and be quite entertaining...

This is the first Sci-fi series I actually like. Big fan of Family Guy, Seth's creativity and boldness to go new places. They would never resort to LCD humor. And I would never use meme-like gifs in discussions to circumnavigate a comprehensive reply. Please.

neither, we are dealing with a god-like entity that is beyond everthing humanity has seen
