Intelligent alien life: astronomy, astrobiology, and the age of inhabitable worlds

And more importantly, the luminosity difference.

I was just enjoying this Richard Dolan talk about the status of the ETH - perhaps others will enjoy it as well - interesting stuff:

I really like this presentation, I'm half way through it...

I just want to say at the moment that my only issue with the alleged interdimensional theory is that they try to use it to cover everything they can...It's not a blanket theory, it's not really even a theory at all but a concept, and idea which is a start, keep working on it, but it cannot at this time replace or substitute valid theories with evidence supporting them...

oh, no worries!
these books are pretty big though
thankfully john is a master wordsmith so the text is very easy to read and flows very well

I didn't ignore it, I just don't have time right now to read several books in order to understand your point. Though it is cool to have access to those babies for future reading - I've always wanted to check out Keel's work, so thank you =)

To be completely honest, I tend to disregard appeal to authority arguments. If somebody can't or won't present a good argument in their own words to support their position in an online chat forum, then I assume that they don't have a sufficient grasp of their own position to convince me.

And oddly, this is an issue that I keep running up against with anti-ETH people. One guy I was debating with thought that Jacques Vallée's arguments against the ETH were sacrosanct: he took all of his points as gospel, and expected me to do the same. So I went over them one by one and easily blew them all to smithereens. So much for relying on "the experts" in lieu of clear, independent reasoning. Then I got into debates with people about the "co-creation hypothesis" (which means radically different things to different people, it turns out), and nobody could even explain it in a cogent manner, so they were like "read the essay in this book that you have to buy." I'm sorry, but if you can't even explain your point of view in your own words, then how well can you possibly understand it yourself? I shouldn't have to spend a month reading through a library in order to see where you're coming from.

I debate in my own words and with my own reasoning, and provide reputable citations to peer-reviewed scientific papers when required to prove specific facts behind my positions. I expect others to be able to do the same.

i actually know a lot about the subject, my problem is that english isnt my main language (have you noticed the typos in my previous posts?) and the fact my desire to write is pretty small, so its very rare to me to make huge texts

again i dont believe in the co-creation model, its too humano-centric and implies that humans have powers wich i am 100% sure they dont have

thanks for reading it, what did you think about it?

It was interesting and very easy to read thanks to the way he write his stories... well

I kinda got the impression that he thinks *all* UFOs and Alien visitors here on earth are of interdimensional origin.

That they manifests themselves in various semi physical (typical) forms and try to prank the population into thinking they are real from this universe.

Also there were several reports around 1940 ish from my country, with known places to me..

Your English is really impressive actually - lots of Americans make typos when they post online so I thought it was your native language. I don't recall ever having trouble understanding what you were trying to say. I wish I were that fluent in a second language; what's your first language, if I may ask?

Unfortunately it's going to be awhile before I can get around to reading those Keel books; I have to move next month and I have to finish a life-scale sculpture before I move out, and I'm working on a physics paper at night when the light is bad in here. So when I'm not taking a few minutes to chat online, I'm busy with other stuff right now, and it could be quite awhile before I have spare time for reading.

I've heard a lot about Keel and the Point Pleasant incidents (the mothman stories are some of the weirdest ones out there), but I don't know how much of it is credible. I'm sure that there are things happening in the world from time to time are beyond our current understanding. But I'm also convinced that a lot of sightings involve physical technological devices from other civilizations: those objects that the Nimitz radar operators saw on their scopes, and the Tic-Tac ufo that accelerated like a bullet and performed a barrel roll around Cmdr. Fravor, were highly advanced technology, not some mysterious manifestation of supernatural forces.

I think that trying to explain all sighting events under one umbrella is too simplistic: it's a vast and ancient, complex universe - I'm sure that there are many different things going on that we haven't figured out yet. But the evidence is overwhelming that at least a very large portion of it involves alien technology which is far beyond our own capabilities.

I do not have any problem reading your posts, you're typos are not illegible, I've seen worse...Have you tried typing your longer posts in your native language Portuguese and dropping it in Google translator to English?...The translator AI is getting much better at full translations with the exception of a small number of languages...

This is the only way we can communicate on the internet to each other though, typing, or perhaps you can do a speech to text in MS Word or another program and drop in Google translate, then you don't have to type at all...

Today I've been listening to an old Art Bell interview from 1997, with Dan Sherman - a former NSA electronic intelligence (ELINT) employee who told an amazing story about his highly classified work as a kind of trained telepath translating mental communication apparently received from two alien beings, and entering it into a computer terminal, though he never saw them personally.

The thing that stuns me about this story, relates to his discussion of the classification structure for the kinds of program that he was involved in: Dan described the way that "above black" programs are nested within black budget programs, as a bulwark against leaks. So if someone talked about one of these above black programs, they could be prosecuted for leaking info about the black program - thereby sidestepping any validation of the above black info. He called it "the onion principle." I found that quite interesting, but it's what happened 16 years later that kinda blows my mind, frankly.

It turns out that buried in Edward Snowden's cache of leaked documents, there are documents which clearly confirm Dan's description of the security apparatus around above black programs. To the best of my knowledge, this information had never been made public before. So now we have totally independent confirmation of keys details in Dan's story. I find that to be a very compelling data point for confirmation of the entirety of Dan's fascinating account.

Michael E. Scalla found this connection as well, and touched on it here, but there's actually more information about the onion principle in Snowden's documents than he provides in this blog post:

That is the problem, the idea of everything interdimensional.

How do mean ? If they come here to pretend being real, that means they got some sense of humour..

I mean the author of the book and wrongly thinking all aliens are interdimensional. If they come here and pretend being real to us that's kind of worrisome. Those aliens might be trying to find a way to gain a foothold in our universe.

I wouldnt worry. Once they meet humans up close,, they probably start looking for another planet in our galaxy. :p
