Collapsed into what.......

Russia collapsed into this reckless conglomeration I wouldn't even call a country, but the satellite countries of the old USSR at least gained their independence back, for the most part...

Lol...

Syria 'failed to intercept ANY missiles during US-led chemical weapons strike - and only managed to fire two of their self-defence rockets before the attack had finished'

Syria only managed to fire two air-defence missiles during last week's chemical weapons strike and both of them missed their targets, it has been claimed.

In total Syria fired 40 interceptor missiles in response to the attack but 38 of them launched after the strike was over, according to The Daily Beast.

The report flatly contradicts widely-disputed Russian claims that 70 per cent of incoming weapons were shot down.

It is really hard to hit cruise missiles with line of sight radar.

Cruise missiles do terrain following.

The window to hit them with active radar is pretty small spacially and time-wise. The radar is "line of sight". This is necessary to have a very close match between the location of the missile and the location reported on the radar.

Further many if not most of the "missiles" (a cruise missile is really a pilotless drone) have stealth features to reduce their signature.

If the S400 had to hit a target flying over a flat featureless desert, yeah the systems might be effective.

But if the system is located in varied terrain with lots of ground clutter it is a different story. Even a radar located a story or two above the ground has problems seeing around a tree or a hill. Any object that sticks out from the ground generates a signature or blocks/interferes with the transmitted signal.

Further, non-Russian operators tend not get optimum performance from the system.

You like me really, I can tell.

Teflon used his own money, big respect for that.

Nothing sticks to him, no one can contain him. I think when you combine that with common decency and a no nonsense attitude, what is there not to love. Great man and you know it.

He is a man of God, what do you expect. Disclosure would insult his faith.

I think many are judging by the cover and I can understand that.

I know a good book when I see it.
