Funny, I've sometimes thought of Gene as Gollum, with money being his One Ring.
(OK, I know we all need money but when I read Gene's emails frequently Gollum as portrayed in the Peter Jackson films comes to mind.)

When the forum owner 'Q' shut down AlienHub, unannounced and unexpectedly, I sent him 3 generous offers for the domain and especially the database but he ignored my offers, I even had some 'representatives' make the final offer on my behalf but no response from him, he would rather see it die I guess than to sell it to someone who could do something with it...I think Gene would be the same way, he would let it die than to sell it to someone who could do something with it...

How on Earth did the Gold Standard of Whatever It's Supposed To Be end up on GCN? The ads are depressingly stupid and the other shows all sound like total crap. The only one I know anything about is Alex Jones, and he's an idiot.

I think I was a member there years and years ago...probably circa 2010 or so...but it really wasn't very welcoming, as far as I remember. I could probably still log in over there if I wanted to, though. The question is, do I want to?

My question is a simple one. What is taking the authorities so long in investigating this guy’s finances? There seems to be enough irregularities that should be obvious to anyone looking.

First, has he actually been reported to the proper authorities? And who would the proper authorities be? Probably the Bankruptcy Court, to begin with. I can't remember which District that is off the top of my head -- but I can tell you that there are certain judges in the LV/Reno Bankruptcy Courts that would tear him apart.
Second, if he has been reported to the authorities, the police, the US Bankruptcy Courts, the IRS, they have to build a case.
Third, I'm not sure what charges he could be brought up on. Bankruptcy fraud is almost a certainty. Tax evasion, maybe? Out and out fraud....I'm just not sure. He's not promising these people anything in exchange for their "donations." I work in the legal field, yes, but I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, so I'm just unsure.

Was obvious that he/she would get banned. If you question anything there then (no matter how nicely you do it) it is basically a countdown to your posts getting deleted.

He definitely didn't declare his begging in his last bankruptcy so whilst I'm not sure what the exact name of the crime is (bankruptcy fraud?) I am certain that is a crime because it is hiding money from your creditors. We have the public records to prove it.
It is quite possible he hasn't been reported though - doubt it will stay that way for long if it is the case. Not sure how long they take to bring a case though.
The tax evasion on the other hand is speculation based on that and I am aware that tax authorities can take years to gather evidence and bring a case(I suspect they have a lot of cases to make).

Yes there are some people who have to live in shacks or in cardboard boxes on the street but they are mere peasants.

Steinberg’s teeth must be grinding right about now. There are a number of websites discussing this subject every day. Just because Gene says cease and desist isn’t going to make it so. In fact it probably makes things worse. People who read what is going on no longer give him money. That’s probably why he seems so desperate in his pleading for money. Maybe the game will soon be up?

I really hope so.
He clearly considers the sharing of his bankruptcy filing and court cases to be some actionable offense but, that stuff is public record. The reality is if he didn't carry on shamelessly begging while lying and running his forum like Captain Queeg, no one would've looked into all this stuff. He brought it all on himself and it's everyone else's fault. (Surely the donations would've dried up at some point anyway.)
I notice also that his new trained flunky got up on his hind legs, and is flailing away at a keyboard in defense of his master. Good boy!
