The Bible: True, False, Or Irrelevant?

Fading day by day.
But facts are based on what is known at the time. So there is a huge difference between reality an facts.
Take your mind back to when the world was flat. At that time, given the available knowledge. Was the flat earth a fact? Yes it was, was it reality, Absolutely not.
Facts are relative to the time and knowledge available. They are barely more useful than theories.
Facts change all the time in science, you know that better than me.

"Facts" vary by the person......I was told to check my facts when I said the confederacy fired on Fort Sumter and that Robert E Lee was a confederate general.

A fact can only be a fact if it can be reproduced, proven, and verified without any doubt...Anything else is a belief, truth, personal truth, incomplete of its own...

You may want to call the belief the earth was flat a fact but it cannot be, it must be verified and proven and it was not proven...It was a belief that became a truth and more so became common knowledge...There was not any understanding of these beliefs much like many beliefs in the main religions...People were conditioned to accept beliefs and truths of the time such as the belief the earth was flat as a fact but in reality it was not a fact, never was, the fact remained in that time and now that the earth is round and it revolves around the sun...

Although most people of the time carried a common truth and believed the earth was flat, it was not a fact because the fact lay unknown to them that they were standing on a round earth, they were ignorant of that fact...

With every instrument, test and textbook available in 2018 the conclusion about item A is inescapably a fact. All the scientists agree. Then in 50 years a new piece of information is learned that was previously unknown to science that changes the previous conclusions about the previously known Fact. So now in 2068 a new set of tests are done and a new conclusion and new Facts are proven.

If you accept that as science leans more things that can sometimes prove old ideas wrong, doesn't this very idea contradict the existence of a Fact by your definition.

Actually science is predicated on constant updates and doesn't stand on one theory because it is accept.....some non-scientists would call "facts". Scientists refer to them as "presently accepted theories".....fully expecting the new information will be found as people are always looking.

Remember people are still updating and/or adding to work by Einstein, Edison and Darwin just to name a few.

Thank you, which is my point exactly. So a fact is not the immovable object that it is sometimes so stubbornly used to deny the existence of a yet to be discovered and alternate possibility. But simply today's best guess. All be it a very well researched one.

I suppose you could call it a guess......one that is supported by the best evidence at the time. Its not used to deny other ideas that it contradicts....even if some people who use religion as science are prone to say.

At Peace.
Here is an interesting testimony of a guy that started having alien encounters, and became involved with magic, and fell into a scary situation... only to find relief in Christian Prayer, and Bible Study.

He says the UFO & Aliens phenom is a total deception, and that it is a complete spiritual attack from Satan.

Convincing Story, and very interesting writing. I couldn't put it down.

Likewise, other people have found relief from earthly or otherworldly problems by engaging the aliens and permitting them to become part of their lives. I can completely believe that, for this guy, alien encounters were attacks from Satan. I can also believe that alien encounters have been a window of experience into another world of intelligent life and an unusual source of companionship for Kchoo. About the only thing really universal in Ufology is that every person who has an encounter and/or relationship with aliens is going to experience it differently and draw different conclusions from it.

The only thing I can say about the Bible is it was necessary and inevitable. Truth and falsities are irrelevant.

Around forty contributors to the writings of the Bible. Social media in it's rawest form.

Premise: Awakened man is God.
Therefore: if that man wrote it, it's written by God for those asleep.

Yes you are right about written after events portrayed.

What I argue in my big religion thread here, is that an update on the Bible was written in the 20th century to clear things up from being corrupted by asleep man and all. So it's very up to date.

If the bible is truth and relevant and an almighty god created us in his image then he would also have the same tendency to sin, if we were truly created in god's image, we would have all the same qualities as god, the same strengths and obvious faults...So if god is perfect and god created us in his image then we are also perfect, regardless of sin, we are the image of god which must be perfect because god is perfect...

So there must be another ulterior motive for sending down Jesus...Maybe Jesus wasn't created by god, maybe he was a failed experiment of god's before we were created...God could have sent Jesus down to earth to learn from us as a way to try to fix him...Then what of all the other alien species in the universe?...Did god create all of them too?...Why were we created in his image and not the grey aliens or the mantis aliens, or any of the others?...Why were we so special to get created in his image?...Maybe god just said that to all the intelligent species he created in the universe, no matter their appearance, like insectoid, saurian, or mammalian for instance...

Any particular branches of Christianity endorse it and sanction it?...

The bible is not a good book on historical events. Many of its stories taken from other cultures.

However the Bible does contain relevant teachings. and sadly many teachings that are Irrelevant and wrong.
One must approach the Bible and the Koran as what they are, products of the age it was written in.
a literal view of the Bible is dangerous.
Let Ken Ham speak of ignorance. I am a simple woman. But even in my faith I don't believe any of this.

Truthiness
Scientifically, There is no proof, either way, The only thing that really gets under my skin about the issue is when people say, someone is uneducated or they believe in fairy tails when they decide to follow a religion. The thing is, There is no proof either way on either side. The issue I have is when people proclaim it to be an untruth showing a bias. That is not a scientifically supported claim.

Other than that, people can believe what they shall. Honestly, No matter what someone decrees in a thread on the forums, To themselves, each person will still believe what they want anyway.
