I can never understand why ghosts are clothed, are the clothes the spirit of cloth no longer with us.Also do we ever get reports of caveman ghosts. If not,why not?.

I thought it was strange that angels are depicted wearing Roman type togas and wielding swords. Why don't they get AR-15's and camo?

because that is the stereotyped view we have of them, so of course the cosmic trickster uses disquises of things we are familiar with like a deceased relative or angel

I'll bite, maybe its something the consciousness of the ghost is identifying with clothing thereby projecting this in their appearance to us...When we see them it is not in their natural state, they or something is projecting them at a resonance so they become visible to us, so this projection of being clothed may be a conscious act...

Also do we ever get reports of caveman ghosts. If not,why not?.

I don't think a spirit at the vibrational level of ghosts can maintain cohesion for millions of years, maybe not even tens of thousands of years, they either move on to a different existence or die...

Well, I'm trying to clear my mind in order to grasp the concept of this cosmic trickster, whenever I read those words 'cosmic trickster' I immediately think of this:

I'd love to see an apparition and would be personally thankful if they had their spectral junk covered up.

Yes the civil war battle fields I've camped on were haunted.

I realize this is dated but I've only just seen it. Been to Gettysburg many times and must say I am a little put off at the ghost hunting business that's evolved. My wife and I have crawled all over that place in the middle of the night (illegally) and there were probably dozens of fellow ghost hunting nitwits out there. It was a lot of fun but in hindsight I feel a little off about it - disrespectful. Were I to communicate with a spirit it would probably tell me to get lost.

If you like camping on these sites, which also sounds interesting, you might like Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War by Tony Horwitz.

I want to get to Sharpsburg and they make a point of saying they got no ghosts. Doesn't mean I wouldn't be looking

I have this theory, I call it consumption theory, Think about it, Most things we use as humans were once alive, Sure there are things like metals and such and things of that nature, But Cotten clothing, That was once alive, It may be possible that because some things we humans consume were once alive that the act that we consume or use that thing may make that thing part of us.

A couple of things. I don't want to be Mr.Skeptic and outright dismiss anything and try not to, so please don't misinterpret what I'm saying. Not mocking anybody. There's nothing wrong with applying critical thinking in a thin even spread, just don't slobber it all over the place. Too much of any ingredient can spoil the soup.

Viscerally I've always felt that were I to encounter a discarnate entity I might not even realize it. My favorite stories are the ones in which you find out the guy you just passed on the stairs has been dead for years. Several times I've posted excerpts from something I wrote for another purpose. That's my way of saying I needed to write out many pages of stuff regarding my own experiences so I can keep the straight - and for the most part only interests me. So here's a little blurb about ghost hunting and battlefields. Next time the wife and I do this I think we'll keep to ourselves and just quietly take in our surroundings. As a social thing it was certainly fun but I did get a little carried away.

I found myself standing in a rainy cornfield in Pennsylvania near Gettysburg about midnight on a ghost hunt. 2006. I was braced against the chill with a few glasses of hot mulled cider and applejack from the local Dobbin House, both of which I highly recommend. Let’s say that my level of inhibition was probably lower than it normally is. We ran into some locals who were offering a midnight ghost hunt to a nearby covered bridge. That area really does have some history and isn’t part of the national park. Paid ghost tours are verboten on the battlefield for good reasons; good taste if nothing else. So, along with a few other couples there we were getting drizzled on. The tour guides were using dowsing rods to detect ghosts. Very interesting – you can figure where to drill a well and find your great-great-grandfather all with one multifunction instrument that doesn’t even need batteries. One stepped up to the young man next to me and proclaimed that a spirit was standing right in front of him. He got all saucer-eyed and waved around the EMF detector the tour guide helpfully supplied which was blinking like crazy. These devices of course, are what TV has told us detect ghosts. I said “can I ask a few questions to the spirit?” And so I put on my best drill sergeant tone and asked “what unit are you from?” “what are your orders” “when did you have a hot meal last, son?” and the like. Well, needless to say the tour guides loved it – their tip jars were full that night in addition to the $20 per head fee. The young guy next to me was actually a bit rattled and I realized maybe I went too far so I pulled my own EMF meter that I had conveniently brought along out of my pocket. Yes, I brought my own for a hoot. It wasn’t lit at all - maybe because it hadn’t been rained on like his had been – maybe because it wasn’t supplied by the tour guides. I tried to tell him I was just kidding. He gave me an odd look and left. I ran into him the next day in a store and again tried to tell him I was pulling his leg but he was so convinced that he had made contact with the Great Beyond he just wasn’t having any of it. He genuinely believed he had a paranormal experience. Maybe so, but I sure didn’t. I felt a little sheepish about all that.

That's been a long-standing question that people have, What age will we be in the afterlife, Some people believe we will be at our youth, Roughly 16 to 20 years old in the afterlife, Others believe we will look the same age that we did when we passed, I can't say for sure, I've never seen what people call Ghosts, I saw what they call a shadow person once. I have had vivid dreams of loved ones shortly after they passed though. In those dreams, The person was always similar to the age they passed, But the appearance of health and personal grooming was on an entirely different level. It was like the same person, Just very healthy and happy looking and well groomed. These are just from dreams though.

My wife saw something in our basement that scared the living hell out of her, some sort of shadow figure flit past. I had it down to bare concrete and had been framing the walls so intellectually I know that it had to just be some unusual lighting condition, but she knows that too and absolutely, positively is not prone to reactions like that. She tolerates my interest in this stuff but isn't especially interested. It's her reaction that spooked me not the spook. I believe her but have absolutely no idea what to make of it.

I tend to take science to really fantastic places, Consider this for a moment, The Physical law of energy conservation states, That energy cannot be created freely nor can it be destroyed completely, it, therefore, must be converted into another form of energy. Okay, So there is also, E=mc2 to consider, Basically, Everything is energy, Physical matter? It's energy.

I tend to consider that the human consciousness is extremely intricate, So what happens when a human dies? Does that energy, Which no matter how one looks at the issue, It is energy, So? Must it be converted into another form? A lot of people will say I'm misusing relativity and thermodynamics to deliver my point. I assert that I'm not misusing them, If there ever was such a thing as a ghost ever in all of history, That is exactly what it would be in my opinion. :)

Might just take a while for the science to catch up. Germ theory was once considered Fringe. Can't recall the specifics just now but Charles Ostman suggested that it's in the process of doing so right now. Unfortunately I find his website to be visually painful and haven't drilled through it just yet to see what he's talking about

I tried confederates in the attic......didn't think to much about it. Yes I do like camping on some civil war battlefields.....but not for ghost hunting. Its more like camping with the ghosts. I've also camped on a few War of 1812 battlefields as well.

Not sure who you are talking to at Antietam........but then not all the people that work for the national historical parks believe in ghosts. However, there are quite a few that do......especially at Gettysburg.

Yes, I was talking to a retired park service ranger. Paid for one of those extended personal tours and we hit it off. Had a lot of fun and wound up chewing the fat over obscure details for hours. Personally, I'd love to camp at a few sites I can think of but those days are behind me .... if I want to say married. :)
