AI - Has technology evolved beyond our control?

The line between living organisms and machines has just become a whole lot blurrier. European researchers have developed "neuro-chips" in which living brain cells and silicon circuits are coupled together.
The achievement could one day enable the creation of sophisticated neural prostheses to treat neurological disorders or the development of organic computers that crunch numbers using living neurons.
To create the neuro-chip, researchers squeezed more than 16,000 electronic transistors and hundreds of capacitors onto a silicon chip just 1 millimeter square in size.

SUPERHUMANS with the ability to communicate using just their brains could be walking the Earth within two decades.
That’s according to a top surgeon who believes it’s only a matter of time until our brains are connected to the internet.

Dr Eric Leuthardt of Washington University thinks that telepathy — or brain-to-brain communication — could be a reality.
“A true fluid neural integration is going to happen. It’s just a matter of when,” the neurosurgeon explained during an interview with MIT Technology Review.

He explained that telepathy won’t just mean chatting with our brains — but reading other people’s minds too.
The easiest way to achieve this goal, he believes, is to keep shrinking down computers until we can fit a powerful one into our brains.
“At the pace at which technology changes, it’s not inconceivable to think that in a 20-year time frame, everything in a cell phone could be put into a grain of rice,” he said.

“It’s going to happen,” he said. “This has the potential to alter the evolutionary direction of the human race.”

Mind reading could be a reality by 2038

I predict that AI or SI as i prefer to define it, wont be the best or worst thing to happen to humanity

It will simply be the next thing that happens to humanity.

I predict that AI or SI as i prefer to define it, wont be the best or worst thing to happen to humanity

It will simply be the next thing that happens to humanity.

I agree that AI will be developed and the consequences for that will be enormous. It's highly unlikely that a world whose top power brokers have built an economy based on central banks and warfare will lead to the silly childish ideas of a Utopian world that I have read by unthinking boobs: Quite the reverse should be fully expected. To begin with lets just bring up an every day problem, which is crime and the threat of crime in our daily lives.

An axiom of crime is that crime follows the potential pathways of it's expression. AI /SI is a pathway to criminal activity. It is to open a door to world of crime which we have no prior experience dealing with in any real capacity and the consequences for that will be profound.

Anything you can imagine a robotic SI/AI could do, it will do, and that's a virtual promise because the intelligence will be merely and extension of human mind. No safe guard will ever prevent another human from cracking the code. Anything build by a human can be undone by a human and there's no way around that, so what then? Do we have AI doing it's own security?
The fox in the hen house? I mean good lord can you get any dumber?

So while everyone is constructing evil plots, what they aren't paying a lot of attention to are the potentials to which a synthetic intelligence can be exploited for crime. Really there's not much which I can think of that is more attractive than an artificial intelligence when it comes to enhancing and enabling wide spread criminal activity.

I mean it's just wonderful. Need someone killed? Great send a AI bot and then have it paddle a boat out to a deep hole and jump overboard. Want to abduct a kid, send an AI bot, or how about those noisy neighbors? Too bad they gone missing huh? Just let your imagination go and see what you can come up with your own self.

Then there's the military and how that's gonna work I can't say, but I can say that this also means that anyone else can start their own private army. Think we have problems now? Just wait because we haven't seen anything yet. How about that intelligence too, a machine which could build an atomic bomb, maybe even a hydrogen bomb, and won't ever have to worry about being contaminated and dying from handling radioactive materials. Not to mention what an AI robot could do with just a hack saw blade and a file. I'm pretty sure gun grabber can just forget all their delusions because a machine like that could produce any other machine which is as primitive as a firearm, and it could probably do that in a day or less. So ya know, what are we going to do when robots have the potential to tear off steel doors, make any weapon mankind has stupidly invented, not to mention that it's going to take a direct hit from an RPG to damage one enough to prevent it from doing whatever it's been sent to do? Hell, ya probably end up blowing yourself to Kingdom Come just trying to slow one down. Probably want a gun just so's you can blow your own brains out before it pulls you apart 14th century style, and that's probably not actually a joke to be quite truthful.

So ya know, AI/SI is just mass marketing a pipe dream, an idea of Utopia, without ever bothering to consider just how crazy and insane this whole idea really is and it is seriously crazy. It's at least as insane as nuclear power if not a hell of lot more so. I'll bet that in the end AI/SI will end up doing exactly the opposite of everything these idiots are now claiming it will do to help us, and I can say that because their marketing hype is very familiar.

I've heard the same story how much "they is going to help me" more times than you can imagine. It's the same damned story the Nuclear Nut Jobs used to mouth; telling us all how cheap electricity would become, and how wonderful this would be, and how we can all hold hands and sing Kumbaya, never mentioning that is the song we will all sing just before blowing our own brains out to end the misery of radiation or something similar that they told us was going to do so much to help us.

Why is it that the solution to our problems is more of the same and or more but worse versions of the same? Huh, ya ever think about that one? Do we really need this because I know I don't, and I'm also pretty sure it isn't going to do one damn thing for me , not personally other than harm me in some form or another. I can tell you it's just like all the other helpful much need projects these clowns have sold to every single generation. This now just the latest project to screw the people, so this one isn't really any different, just more and undoubted worse is all.

Its like this.

The only purpose of the A.Is is to make humans think LESS

Now ya'all go figure on this.. And think MORE

Like most everything the propaganda sells, it isn't about what you need, it's about what the powers that be want. That's really all I'm saying with that wall of text. Do not be fooled. Think before you leap.

Or it may be as Paul Davies, a British-born theoretical physicist, cosmologist, astrobiologist and Director of the Beyond Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science and Co-Director of the Cosmology Initiative at Arizona State University, says

"I think it very likely – in fact inevitable – that biological intelligence is only a transitory phenomenon, a fleeting phase in the evolution of the universe," Davies writes. "If we ever encounter extraterrestrial intelligence, I believe it is overwhelmingly likely to be post-biological in nature."

It may be inevitable, it may be that sentience always transcends the biology it spawns in. That may simply be the natural path of sophontry.

And it would be a perfectly fitting answer to the question IF UFO's are real as observed, why dont they land on the white house lawn (or cultural equivilent)

Why would they ? we are just biologicals. It would be like the frog trying to explain to the tadpole what it feels like to walk on dry ground. An impossible task and one the tadpole with learn in its own sweet time anyway.

While i dont think the Venus project is actually practical, some of the ideas are worth consideration

When computers eventually have sensors extended into all areas of the physical and social complex, we will be able to achieve centralization of decision-making. In a global resource-based economy, decisions would not be based on local politics but on a holistic problem solving approach.

I'm a programmer/developer. Personally, I don't think AI is anywhere near the point that the media is giving it credit for. There's a long running joke about AI just being "a lot of if statements" and honestly, unless there is some black budget program miles ahead of where a lot of us are aware of, that isn't that far off.

From the October 1962 incident in Gambeir's infographic:

upload_2018-9-7_18-19-3.png

An interceptor is a type of defensive fighter aircraft whose primary function is to intercept approaching enemy bombers. Those nuclear-armed F-106s would have been carrying the AIR-2 Genie air-to-air unguided missile. It had a low-yield (1.5 kiloton) warhead designed to destroy squadrons of enemy bombers. If they had taken off, they would have found no approaching bombers, and thus no targets to launch their rockets at, so that would not have been that big of a deal in that case. They were not equipped with nuclear bombs, and had inadequate range to get close to any Soviet-held territory (they were based in the American Midwest). So that does not really seem like much of a close-call.
