Ghosts

Here's one I forgot about.

FDR's home in Hyde Park NY is a national park. Years ago there was a small Howard Johnson's across the street and my Mom was a waitress there. She worked second and third shifts. The NPS has staff their either all night, or very early or very late. Whatever their schedule was she told me several times that more than one of the rangers would come in completely rattled because the home itself - Springwood - was haunted and FDR's mother was a stone bitch. Thing is, Mom definitely required a bit of filtering but as a kid it took a while to figure that out.

Forgot about it and grew up. Now HoJo's is gone and someone had the sense to put a decent brewery there.

So about ten years ago my wife and I were taking the tour, which I've done countless times, and for some reason we had a group of slowpokes. I fell to the back so I could snoop a little - not crossing any velvet ropes just taking my taking my time. There was one NPS ranger, and older guy, with me and out of the blue I asked him "you got any good ghost stories?"

He pulled me aside so we could speak privately and said "absolutely yes." He was locking the place up and was in the room you enter when you step in the front door and Sara Roosevelt walked in from another room and told him he was trespassing and to get out of her house! Looked like a real solid person to him and he was so shocked he couldn't move. He blinked and she was nowhere to be seen.

I don't know what to make of that but he seemed perfectly sincere. Based on his age I had to wonder if he used to go over for eggs & chainsmoking after his shift and talk to my Mom.

Some theories cross disturbing lines, If someone were to really truly desire data, I'd submit that running scans on the recently deceased, would be one's best bet, You would want thermal scans, Infrared scans, Magnetic scans and for the sake of consistency X rays, and even atmosphere samples to test relative changes during peak events.
I propose the idea, That death is not as clean cut as we would like to believe it is, That there is electrical activity within the body for days, after the fact.

I feel like, Is we are going to legitimately search for Ghosts, The most logical place to really begin a search would be the recently deceased.

I'm not sure what's with all the typos this morning, I'm going to pretend they didn't happen though, :/

Current medical science can resuscitate people that would have previously been considered stone dead. Once in a while you hear about someone waking up in the morgue. If your consciousness is separate from your physical body what's it doing when you're like that? Is it like the nice new waiting room at my Ford dealership? Free WiFi, coffee & donuts ?

Actually, Coffee and doughnuts sound amazing, I think I'm gonna stop at the diner this morning and get a chocolate doughnut and some coffee.

I would be having a near death experience right now if it weren't for coffee. Old percolator. This stuff will crawl right out of the cup. You could float an iron wedge in it.

This reminds me of a Stargate SG-1 episode where Daniel Jackson was killed and he finds himself in a 60s diner ordering waffles and coffee...The waitress turns out to be an ascended being who is helping him make his choice in moving on, until then he must remain in that diner or die forever...It also turns out that all the people in that diner are ascended beings watching him and the waitress as they discuss things...

I love a good diner. Wouldn't mind that one bit as long as the coffee was decent

A couple were left terrified after what they believe is the ghost of the Titanic's captain 'photobombed' them in a historic pub with connections to the doomed ship.

Cheryl and Luke Arkless noticed something blurry in the background of their photo, taken in a bar which is full to the brim with original memorabilia from the infamous voyage.

They said they also felt something cold on their backs.

The couple, both 34, were on a trip to Belfast in Northern Ireland when they visited the city’s Robinsons pub.

But after the pair, from Devon, snapped a romantic shot together they were horrified to spot a spooky face right behind them.

And they believe it bears a great resemblance to the ship’s captain, Edward John Smith.
