synchronicities

I’m not sure this falls under the synchronicity category, but here goes. Maybe twenty years ago my wife’s family had a reunion picnic. As we were heading home my wife’s aunt said she forgot her purse back at the party. We were only a mile down the road so we turned around and went back to pick it up. It couldn’t have taken us ten minutes or so. We headed out again and just a couple of miles down the road traffic had completely stopped.

When we finally got moving we saw there had been an accident. Some guy tried to pass in a no pass zone and his vehicle flipped onto its side and crushed him to death. No one said it, but I immediately thought that had we not turned back for that purse we could have easily been involved in that accident. That accident would have been in that time frame that we drove through that location. It sure made me wonder.

Odd coincidence but with a much obvious implications. Not to read too much into it but how often do you think your aunt forgot her purse? It would be easier to snatch one of my wife's kidneys than her purse

My wife’s aunt is deceased now. I really would have no way to know how forgetful she was. The strange part for me was that no one in our vehicle said a peep about the idea that this could easily have been us. I thought it immediately but I kept my mouth shut. I didn’t want to upset anyone further.

This is a bit deeper.

Not proud of mentioning this but as you lot will never know me, I will share.

I used solvents with a close mate many years ago, during the summer holidays while I was at school.

While smashed on it we both left my parents garden and with his back to us, leaning against the road sign was a policeman. I looked at my mate and he looked at me, we both had the look of panic but when we glanced back he was gone.

Connected and synchronised hallucination.
sounds like something paranormal IMO
mass halucinations aren't really a thing, someone will see something and another person will see another thing...

Old thread, current thoughts

How many feathers does it take before the pile weighs a full ton? Anybody here collect weird little coincidences, occurrences that by themselves are insignificant but will occasionally line up in strange ways? Almost as if there was some messaging directed at you ? Could be something you read, heard or saw. I just put them in a mental folder for later processing because some would be considered ridiculous if spoken of aloud.

I've heard interviews with Prof. Caroline Watt that generally dispels that idea. Some things are more statistically likely than you might think. Calling someone who is in the process of calling you. In old school telephony we'd call that 'glare' and there are various methods we'd use to deal with that. She did a survey of a haunted castle somewhere in which dozens of not hundreds of participants filled out surveys and marked maps to document their experiences and without diving deep into it, some things really can be explained fairly easily.

But then there are the small absurdities, the weird little nuggets that pop up that just make you scratch your head. How many have to add up beyond statistical likelihood to have weight, if any?

Anybody have thoughts on this?

Been ruminating over this.

I suppose a big component is that you notice otherwise mundane things and attempt to make hay. My nephew just bought a Dodge Charger. Really nifty 21str century hot rod. Now that I'm paying attention to them I see them all over the place. Doesn't mean The Universe wants me to go buy one.
