The 'gay cake' row is four years old now. The event happened in 2014. They were taken to court and lost their case and appeal, but today won a major legal victory in the Supreme Court which recorded a unanimous verdict that they did not discriminate against the customer in refusing to put that message on a cake. This is actually good news for a change, and a victory for common sense.

This is good news as I flicked it off as soon as I saw the banner and presumed that the cake was another push back symbol.

I personally see nothing wrong with that ad.

I do See something wrong with a society so uptight. I am tired of everybody wanting to be so wound up about little things....

So Today, I am having the last bit of my Buffalo Trace bourbon... a nice pour to empty the bottle I opened Oct 10 of 2017.

I hope to numb down my own uptight stances, including the one on this thread... perhaps others should join me in a wave of peace...

Cheers. And Salute!

People who observe Twitter outrages about expressions of incorrect opinions often label the people taking 'offence' as overly sensitive or 'snowflakes'* and say that such occurrences are 'political correctness gone mad'. However, political correctness has not gone mad, but is doing what it was always meant to do: limit the scope of allowable public discourse. The outraged are not delicate, but are exploring the limits of their growing power, because they mean to silence their opponents in all debate by gradually reducing the number of topics that are up for discussion.

*So far as I can see, the term 'snowflake' was originally meant to signify members of Generation Y being so convinced of their own uniqueness, thanks to the Baby Boomer approach to child rearing and theories on education like child-centred learning, and not because of the implication that they are delicate and easily melt.

The term snowflake is subjective. We are all expected to fully embrace gay culture, And if we don't there is something wrong with us personally.

It sounds hateful on the outside Like I'm projecting some sort of darkness or disapproval upon the culture, Maybe I am, Maybe, I really do feel like it's disgusting. Does that make me an evil dictator? Or just someone with a different opinion about same-sex relationships?. You know, Not every country is as forward thinking as Murica, In some countries, they so staunchly believe homosexuality is a crime that the punishment is still death for such an offense.

When is the last time anyone ever heard the word Fag or Fairy? I'll bet it's been a while Because PC culture will literally exterminate someone for uttering such a terrible word.
Is it a testament to free speech, Or is it just hitting a hornet's nest with a stick? The fact is, Gay people, give many the heebie-jeebies And honestly a time has come when we are no longer allowed to think that or express that openly.

The freedom to express that hey, I'm not comfortable talking about these issues Or hey, I disapprove of this thing are gone. Now we must meet people and completely ignore that they don't swing the same way we do, And if we don't we are the problem. This isn't Gay hate, This is anger at never being given the choice to express my own opinions about such a serious topic. Society chose for me that I must completely embrace this, I wasn't given a voice in it or a choice in the matter. Not once.

This is an older expressed opinion, But if you read this, You know it stirred up feels.

We are all snowflakes in this modern fragile society, every last one of us.
And since there's no place to go, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I know everyone will ignore that, But I'm serious to this point, Has anyone that is straight ever been harassed by a gay person who knows they are straight? I've been hit on by gay people who know damned well it creeps me out, But they do it as a form of harassment. Just being Gay doesn't make one not a harasser or a good person, But there is nothing, Not a damned thing a straight man can do once harassed but laugh it off. But it feels like harassment. It sucks.

You're not supposed to just walk up to people and start talking about sex and what you would like to do to them, That is harassment for every person on planet earth. unless a gay person does this to a straight person, Then it's not a crime at all... F society and PC culture.

:/

Oh well, For whoever this pisses off, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to piss people off, I'm just pointing out that being Gay these days. Elevates people above others. It gives them more rights than common people seem to have. At least in my experience.

This may seem like hard-hitting content. But I'm not the least bit upset. I'm just expressing points that are fragile and hard to express

I will be honest, It makes me uncomfortable, sickly... just like seeing open wounds and graphic representations of bones breaking... I wasn’t taught to be this way... I do not care what people do, it isn’t judgement, it is just a visceral response. I just would rather look the other way, that’s all.

A TV show had a side story about two guys and their relationship and I simply cannot watch... I tried to force myself to get past this... but it didn’t get any better, so after that, if that show comes on, I simply leave the room.
It ruined an otherwise good show for me, and it added nothing to the story line that I could tell.. so I was done.

I can hang with anyone... but if two people of the same sex start kissing... I am out of there...

Thanks for standing next to me on this, I was expecting a lot of backlashes, But I've learned here at AE, You can have almost any opinion you want as long as you are respectful about it. This doesn't reflect mainstream society, But It reflects well on AE, We are all more enlightened than we credit ourselves for :)

How about two women ? Lol. Yeah I thought so..Me too.

Men are sexist and nothing will change this state. Look inside yourself and accept this is reactionary and not constructed. So it's fine to be disgusted by two men and also fine to be aroused by two women.

I say nothing will change this state but our efforts to unzip nature has had an effect that only highlights what comes naturally and will further divide opinion. I just can't believe people deny a certain natural feeling because it isn't the thing to do. Doesn't make it go away when you shut your eyes.

People are racist, men are sexist. Man's mind is set to think of sex an awful lot. I belong to a muslim forum where so many men are asking for forgiveness because they couldn't help but jack it to porn. One was actually performing oral sex on himself. They were not pleased with him as he had really put his back into it to achieve his goal. I felt for that guy enough to pm him and told him not to be too hard on himself.

What gets me is, People are being forced to be perfectly politically correct. But what exactly is that anyway? I don't really know anyone who is this perfectly politically correct person, Not really, Yet we are forced to act like we are. But no one really is.

Keeping it under control because with out boundaries we would be at each other like the apes in a shit fight. Think it but don't say it is where we are wanted to be. In the hope this will erase the condition in time. I don't think it works like that but the alternative is impossible.

Respecting differences, boundaries and putting number one first is my way.

From my view on it, I suppose that is necessary, Without someone to tell others hey, That's going too far, People go to far every single time. I'd have to agree.

It is the only way to go.

It's being pressurised in these times because people are realising our flawed nature. Like whack a mole, pops up and whacked down. Now the Internet has created a space where people can keep the dream alive and they block some of the holes. Mole still pops up in one of the remaining. It's fat people now here in the UK, a big up rise in discrimination, more that ethnic or sexual minorities. Block up all the holes and it will explode or implode.

I overheard a pot belly, double chin ~260 lb guy with an empty glass say, "I hate fat people..." Reffering to the slowness of the ~300 lb heavy bar tender.

Its all in the eye of the beholder I guess...

My thought is that the sooner you all opt out of social media and corporate propaganda news, the better.
Im not scolding anybody.
This is just some wedge driving by powerful people whose names youve never heard.
I dont like seeing any Public Display of Affection, but thats my hangup.
I just try to encourage people not to give a shit about the clown parade..be above it.
Or don’t Whatever.

I don't suppose there will be any choice for people who prize peace, The only way to avoid Drama is to avoid social media, It's a ticking time bomb of drama. :/

Sheltie

Fratty and out of touch.
I think the real issue with all of this is the simple lack of respect that is missing nowadays.

I have several friends on FB who are gay. I think everyone has a right to be happy and if they're gay then it is what it is. I respect their right to live their lifestyle. I have a hard time, however, with the people who want to use their sexual preference as a political tool they can wield any time they want for political gain.

When I see someone post in the newsfeed about pride festivals or gay parades, I never "like" or comment on the posts. I can tell that some of them are upset about this because they apparently have an uncontrollable need for approval and validation. Well, too bad. Maybe it's because I was brought up in a very traditional old fashioned family. I will not get involved in their sexual-political revelry.

I have one friend who came out after college who I still talk to all the time. He is also black and I'm white. Maybe because he was raised by his grandparents who were conservative Southern Baptists, he's very private about his sex life yet open about the fact that he's gay. We still have our traditional upbringing and understanding in common and if feels as if nothing has changed between us as friends. We've talked to each other about relationships we've been in and I feel more comfortable talking to him than some of my heterosexual friends because he's not into the bragging and egotistical BS they're into.
