Truthiness
This is a long Read, If your not into Science, Physics, Astrophysics, You may want to skip this one., So Sayeth the SP. Okay. Let's get right to it. The finite structure of the universe is actually binary, There are two structures that form the entirety of the cosmic web,
Filaments and Voids
As you can see the Filaments are the brightly light clusters of galaxies and nebula and Messier objects While the Voids are Fairly self-explanatory. Save for this small fact. To be classified as a Void a region of space does not necessarily have to be completely devoid of matter. in many voids, Like this one,
Boötes void
There are in fact a few filaments present. As can be seen in this infrared image of the same void.
The Bootes Void, of course, shows us a detailed look at a void and therefore the surrounding filaments
Most of the matter you see within the void is actually on the other side of the void itself. though the brighter of the objects within are actually inside the void expanse.
Until Recently It was thought that the Boötes void was the largest in the known universe,
But like a lot of undiscovered truths, we couldn't see the bigger picture because we were too busy looking in the wrong place. It turns out the largest Void in the known universe is rather close to home, In fact, The Milkey way Galaxy sits inside of it.
It's rather rare for a galaxy like ours to be all alone and not clustered within a filament, This leaves some scientists to question if once again our unique circumstances could have contributed to the origins of life in the universe.
And that's all you get for a quarter.
Peace out, SP...
