Footsteps, Voices, Sounds (continued)

I'm continuing this from my previous thread on AU/AH.

I'm an American living in Japan, and where I work is likely one of the most haunted places I've ever been, and my workrooms are, in my opinion, probably the second-most haunted part of the facility.

Let me give you some background. My workplace is on a hill, and it consists of multiple buildings built on the hill and down the sides of the hill. There are probably about a dozen buildings in all.

My room was once one big room that was later divided. Modular dividing walls were installed along one wall, making a long, narrow room on the side that's maybe 2 meters wide and about 15 meters long. This is divided in half by another wall with a door separating the two halves. One half of this narrow room is my office, where i have my desks, cabinets, etc. I spend a lot of time here. At the end of this office area are double doors (no windows) leaving to the hall.

The large area of the room is about 10m wide and 20 meters long. There sliding glass doors on one side that lead to the balconies, and on the other side are three doors, each with a large window in the upper half. Two of these lead to the office area, and the last leads to the hallway. This room has tables and chairs.

I moved to this room from a previous room about 5 years ago or so. Before that, the room had hardly been used for a few years, so it had kind of an abandoned air for a long time.

At my workplace, there have been reports over the years from different people about seeing ghosts in different places, and these stories rarely change. There's one building where people have regularly reported hearing equipment going ... only when they look in, the lights are off, nobody's there, and the equipment is silent.

There's another building where people who didn't know each other have reported seeing a small boy.

There's a building where they've reported seeing a Japanese soldier, and another where they've seen an old woman walking the halls.

In my old room, I had two doors facing the hall, and I'd often think I saw an elderly woman with gray hair in a bun walk past the first door, but never pass the second door, and never go past the first door again. She'd walk past the first door and disappear.

In this building, one night, while working really late, I heard voices coming from downstairs ... but I was the only one in the building. I heard footsteps on my floor ... only no one was there.

In my current room, I've come in the morning to find these turned on that I was sure I'd turned off the day before. I went several days where the door kept opening on its own and then slamming shut ... even though it wasn't windy, it had never done it before and hasn't done it since. A number of times, I've seen a man in a blue jacket walking out of the room. He looked so vivid, I ran after him, thinking it might be a new security guard patrolling (they do night patrols, door and window checks, etc.), only to find the hall empty. I've heard knocking on my doors, the walls, even the windows, only no one is there. And sometimes I hear footsteps.

When I was first moving into the room, I was here late at night moving things, and I started hearing what sounded like footsteps. I could hear them so clearly I thought I could tell where they were coming from, but when I'd go to that place, stop and listen, the footsteps would sound like they were coming from somewhere else in the room, like every time I moved, the footsteps moved.

One time while walking from my office towards the double doors leading to the hall, through the window of the middle door leading into the main room, I swear I clearly saw a young woman sitting at one of the tables with her head in her hands, but when I opened the door and looked in, even though it only took a second, just reaching out to open the door and taking two steps into the room, the room was empty.

Today, something weird happened again, that made me want to start this thread up again. Last December, we changed the chairs in the main rooms, and we stacked the old chairs in the empty half of the narrow room. Now, I've been walking past those chairs numerous times a day going out of the office or coming in. This morning, when I came into work one of the stacks of chairs had fallen over. Now, to be honest, the way they're stacked is not terribly stable. They're not really "stackable". We're just waiting on the truck to take them away. But they've been in my room now for more than three months, and one of the stacks has now fallen over. Also, it was fine when I locked up last night. I thought "That's weird. I wonder if there was earthquake or something last night." Didn't think much of it, really. Went to a meeting. Came back. A DIFFERENT stack of chairs had fallen over. Now, imagine: for three months, the chairs have been fine. Since December, they haven't moved. Then, in one day, two stacks fell down, not at the same time, but hours apart.

Weird.

Can you get any information on the land to find out if there was some kind of battle in the past or suspicious deaths? I heard a ghost story on some program years ago. A person somewhere in Europe walked down to their basement and saw a Roman legion walk out of one wall and into the other. Their basement floor was part of an ancient Roman rode. It was ground level some 2,000 years ago. An event in your area with a high level of emotions must have happened in the past multiple times. Maybe the geology plays a part.

Yes be careful of that dog with red eyes. I have here an old man, a young girl and something else I am not sure what it is. My cats see them when I don't especially in the large hallway , they are good little spirit detectors even though I have some tech stuff for finding spectral apparitions. The noises are always around at night I often hear 'something' in my walls . cupboards and dresser drawers its not mice or insects whatever it is actually moves the things about in the drawers and sometimes I find drawers pulled open when I have left them all shut. Mostly at night . Footsteps in the halls is common at night also. Its more of an annoyance than anything else.

I dont have any fancy tech stuff, sometimes i wish i did. but i always did my evps in the afternoon around 4-6 pm, i never done one at night, not alone im not. i used to have things like that happen here like what your talking about , especially when we had some work done to the place, its calmed down a bunch but we still thing go missing and show up in odd places. and once while in the shower when i had my face all lathered up in soap some girl kissed me,i thought my wife got off early , but i was alone in the house, spooky but it was nice kiss i must admit. ugh did i just say that.lol oh well...

How Has Technology Impacted our Ability to Contact the Dead?

The reason I attached a link to Mathias paper on the ARV is that it also has specifics about communications, think sub~light comm as Science Fiction is always bantering about. This paper touches on the secret communication systems which are almost assuredly being used, but have only been stumbled upon by others, mostly by lucky breaks as those above have. If they understood the technical aspects of where the information is then maybe we would all know a lot more. Talking with the dead appears to be with in the realm. It's therefore not surprising that certain locations, for reasons yet undetermined, that places exist where the
ability of energy to cross in to our perception is more common. Interesting stuff.

Today I had an odd experience. I was in the main room talking to some people, and the middle door was closed. Through the window, I seriously thought someone had passed the door through the inner office area. I was so sure, I got up and went over to look, because I thought I might be someone looking for me, or maybe checking up on our server (which is kept in my office). But nobody was there, and there was nowhere for them to go. To me, it looked like a young man with black hair, dressed in black, a young Japanese man. But I only saw him for a moment. It was weird.

I had that happen a couple weeks ago in this powder coat production room, it was a Saturday and no one was there or so I thought and I swear I saw someone walk behind the spray booth, I was so convinced I walked across the room to check and found no one around...

Is there any history of that property and what was there before?

Toroid, I don't know the history of the area, but we've had a lot of weird things.

On the same day as the other experience, I actually had another odd thing happen, but I'd dismissed it. Earlier in the day, I had some people in the main room, and one of them laughed and made the comment that my garbage can had just moved. I laughed it off with some offhand comment like "I'm sure there's nothing in there." but it wasn't until later that I thought about it.

Today, I was in another building, and we have a large room separated by a partition. I was working in one area, and a friend of mine was working in the other half of the room. I was about to leave, so I went out my door, into the lobby, and then entered his door. I thought I saw someone move across the room, and the feeling was so strong that I actually looked behind the door. The part of the room on that side of the partition is a square only about 15 feet across, and it's full of tables and other things, so there's not much space in there to begin with. But I thought it odd that the impression of a person swiftly moving across the room as I opened the door seemed so vivid and so strong.

I was interested in 'telephone calls from the dead' specifically. I recently read John B Alexander's Reality Denied and while it didn't light my pants on fire he described an incident in which an invisible entity shoved him. His response was 'what exactly was the physical force that caused that to happen?' and that's what I picked up on about phantom phone calls.

In Is ITC phenomenon genuine? I see that Deutsche Telekom charged a subscriber for monitoring phone calls and claimed none had occurred in a two month period in 1995. Land lines. Detail records for those work differently than they do now and may not have been recorded at all unless the call fit within a specific pattern. In terms of physical forces involved, you have to send 90VAC across that pair of wires to trigger the bell, and in the US maintain at least 24ma of DC current to have a chat with anyone, even your dead grandma. So did the phone actually ring or did you just think it did? If it really were communication from the dead I'd think the latter.

I have an (admittedly esoteric) point here. The majority of telephone lines today are provided by ISPs via cable or fiber modems anymore. Regardless of the physical medium used to deliver the service the ability to capture information about the source, length and destination of has increased tenfold. Is this phenomenon still occurring? If it just faded away you might think it was some odd quirk of the old PSTN system. If not we should be able to take a much more detailed look at it. I say this because I have looked into records of thousands of phone calls and traced problems and would absolutely LOVE to be in a position to look into this myself. So I'm asking - 'what exactly was the physical force that caused that to happen?'

I've been trying to take pictures of very large planes seen frequently around my house and found that my iPhone isn't the best for that but with practice you can do it successfully. Practice. I'd suggest doing that with a camera or smartphone anywhere there is frequent paranormal activity. Why not? You just might catch something very startling.

In that vein I am taking a digital recorder with me next trip to the family gravesite and will try Audacity to see what might pop up.

Sorry to ramble on but this is cool and gave me something new to try.

there is all sorts of tutorials on this

I took my old Sony ICD-BX132 out to the family plot yesterday and had a nice chat with the gang. Took a 5 1/2 minute recording on the Sony and my iPhone. Used Audacity on both to speed up/slow down. Very cool! No voices from the beyond but I was able to pull background noise up and sort it out more distinctly. Not exactly a quiet resting place after all. I'll keep fooling around with it.

Any particular tips or tricks you use ?

Yesterday I was at the Plant where I work checking out the equipment status after losing power for two days...Well I walked back to the powder coat ovens and the electrical room door where the main power cabinets and transformers are was about two feet open...It happens so many times when that door is left open, I walk in that area to see out of my peripheral vision someone walking in or out of that electrical room...When the door is closed I never see this but when even slightly open I see someone quickly entering or exiting...Very weird...

I listened to an interview with Dr Caroline Watt from the University of Edinburgh and I think it was on The Unexplained With Howard Hughes #268. She did a study on a haunted building with a control group - some knowing about the building's reputation and others not. And I think it was a larger group, maybe dozens or hundreds. Everyone filled out a form that asked questions about temperature, feelings, observations. I remember her saying that when passing a doorway that opened into a much larger room there was some statistical significance to people being - not to get overly technical - a little freaked out - throughout both groups.

In the meantime, why not set up a camera trap or video? Sounds like the perfect spot and opportunity to do something like that. Dunno about company security policy.

Sounds cool

Reminds me of some of the stories I've read about haunted tunnels. Haunted tunnels are apparently a big thing in paranormal studies. Maybe because of the creepy, eerie nature of tunnels people tend to be hyper sensitive when passing through them and are, therefore, much more likely to sense strange things they otherwise would not have noticed.

New experience today. I was in the side office, waiting for some people who were supposed to show up after lunch. Many times, they show up early, around 12:45 or so, so while I was finishing my lunch and watching a youtube video (hey, it's my lunch hour), I was kinda listening for them.

So I think I hear the door, and I check, and it's 12:45, and I think "Ah, they're early again. I better go kid them about being 15 minutes early" and I hear them walking across the floor in the next room, but really HEAVY steps, I mean, I could feel the vibration through the floor, like they were stomping.

So (and you know where this is going), I get up to go see what the stomping is all about, but there's no one there. Again, I walk about the room, check doors, etc to make sure we aren't going in circles looking for each other, and I even look out the door to see if they left for some reason ... nope. Nobody.

12:55, the people I'm waiting for show up.

But it was weird. I've never heard loud footsteps, nor felt the footsteps vibrate in the floor. Up to now, when I've heard footsteps, they've been pretty quiet.

As for photos, some of the work I do involves video cameras and digital still cameras. So I've taken dozens of hours of video, and probably a few thousand photos in that area, and I've recorded probably a hundred hours of audio over the years. I've never noticed anything odd in any photos or videos, or in any of the audio.
