22 Retailers Closing Stores

Stare..... They are always staring
Walmart is NOT the place with all the best prices.
Stores like Family Dollar or Dollar General can have deals that beat Walmart and because they are small and pop up in many places and small communities/towns they fill a niche Walmart cannot.

I also dislike the atmosphere at Walmart. I avoid the place as much as possible.
We still have SEARS in the Appleton Grand Chute Mall and K-Mart in Waupaca...but for how long is the question.

I think Family Dollar and Dollar General and 99 cents stores and their ilk depend on close outs, overstocks, and going out of business and the like for their inventory. That's ok for basic commodities and such but in due time you probably will not be able to find said particular item...

But I agree on the Wal-Mart angle, I now pretty much use them like I do Amazon, fast and very reliable mailed shipping . When I lived in LA , that was definitely a crap shoot

I can’t tell you the last time I visited a mall. I did stop into our local Dollar Tree store last week. It was wall to wall Christmas junk. I do almost all my shopping on the internet. I can’t imagine going back to the mall scene. I hold my nose when I need to go to Walmart. The shopping experience there is mostly unfriendly. The stores are dirty and no one seems to know anything.

I always thought everything was about a dollar at dollar stores which is one reason I never went to one, I thought it was all cheap garbage, worse than Walmart lol...

I have never shopped at a dollar store before lol...I live near a small town and they have a Walmart which seems to be the gathering place for many in that town on the weekend...There will be crowds of people at that store on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, congregating in groups saying hellos and talking a while...its kind of annoying when I go there to get a few things and these groups of locals are all in the way cluttering the isles and they don't like to move for someone…

Dollar Tree is a great place for party supplies and greeting cards. I don't know if they have stores on the east coast.

Around this region I've seen Dollar Tree, Dollar Store, and another one, Dollar (something)…

That was the reason I went into Dollar Tree. I needed some cheap greeting cards. I found them but I was overwhelmed by cheap Christmas items. I got out of there as quickly as possible.

Dollar Tree tries to keep items to around a dollar. Dollar General and Family Dollar tend to shade the dollar price and go over somewhat.

That's the other two shops I was trying to remember, Dollar General and Family Dollar...

Did the Christmas items self-animate and chase you out of the store?

When I first stepped into the store all those crappy, cheap Christmas items hit me in the face. I was there for a couple of birthday cards. I had to wade through the store to find what I was looking for. I pity the poor people like me just looking for the regular store items.

A couple years ago working for a different company that I had to drive by the Walmart in town early, about or before 5 am weekdays, so I stopped in Walmart regularly early in the mornings before work two or three times a week to get food to eat at work or stuff I needed for home...I always used the self checkout and at about between 430am to 5am in this sleepy town there is virtually no customers besides myself that I see...There was a woman who worked there who used to watch the self checkout area at that time of the morning and perhaps because of myself being about the only customer there at that time, she would stand within five feet and sometimes closer to me watching me scan the food but what bothered me most was after I finished scanning the stuff and pulled out my wallet she would not move away from me...

Here's the thing, if I was paying her and she was behind the register then I have no problem with her standing within three feet of me much less five feet, she would be the recipient of the money...In this case though, with the self checkout, I am not paying her, I am paying a machine that has three cameras watching me the entire time...She needs to step away and give me some space when I pull out my money and I have told her that politely too lol...

As an employee of one of them I can assure you they do not.
Family Dollar has decent items at good prices.
Recently we have had shoppers comment how some of our prices on the very same items beat Wal-Mart's price and by several dollars for one particular item.
Many items are higher than a Wal-Mart or a Woodman's store, but not by much. They have much of the stuff people might otherwise have to drive 20 miles or more one way to get. Not just gas but time is money as well.
We save people time and money.
We often have buy one get one 50% deals or more.

If one has a lot of stuff to get then it is worth the drive.
The wife and I usually do that...except during these cold and snowy months.

Amazing to watch people ring up their credit cards on absolute garbage. I wandered through a mall yesterday only long enough to get the couple of small things I needed and then skedaddle. Weekdays are the only safe time to go.

Any parking lot is a basic IQ test. I stay away from Walmart because too many people fail that test, regularly and badly.

I’d rather not see someone’s ass crack hanging out when I go to a place like Walmart. The employees aren’t much better.

Today after 126 years in business Sears begins the process of shutting down. it also is the end for K mart.
Who does not remember the wish book?
Or the Blue light special?
my twins think Sears is " a store for grandma "
my 11 year old will barely remember Sears.
my 7 and 3 year old children will grow up in a world without Sears.
In a saftey deposit box is an old wish book. I may take it out an let my kids see the world I grew up in.
