Where did you hear that? From everything I can see in the news he has resigned as chairman, and remains CEO.

You are correct, Elon Musk will remain CEO...

Roseanne Barr got into trouble recently for strange Twitter postings and blamed the influence of Ambien.

According to Rogan, mix it with some alcohol it totally f***s you up. I've never had problems falling asleep so these drugs I'm not familiar and plan to keep it that way. Well the beer yes.

I know this is late but hearing her explanation for the FIRST time - Barr defends her Tweet. It would have been fair to get this out sooner. So apparently the term "big ape balls" is a regional slang from where's she's from (Utah). Men are there like in ape culture to reproduce with their many wives, etc. Can anyone verify this a legit regional term used in past?

I've never watched the original Rosanne, zero interest in the new version, and as most here know I am no Trump supporter. But I definitely back Rosanne here. She got f**ed over. Then she had the humanity to sign off on them making The Connors so the staff keeps their jobs. She's a bit zoned out from smoking now and all that ambient combined, but she got wronged.

I never watched the original Rosanne nor the new one, not my kind of TV for what little I do view of television...I'm no Trump supporter either, except in the minds of those who cherry pick things I say and paint me as one but I agree she got screwed over, so have many other people in the name of being PC...It's a pathetic state of affairs, makes me think some days of packing it and heading into the remote mountains to be never seen again and you know what, if i did that I'd be just fine...Soooo, whats on tv tonight lol...

Earlier this summer we ( a lot of it ME ) posted a number of stories that appeared to indicate that Elon had gone off the rails.

It seems Elon may have turned a corner and may now be in a better place. Here I am posting a couple of stories that makes me think his head may now removed from you-know-where.

The latter story appeared just a couple of weeks ago and touches a lot on the tunnel...almost completed...he's dug beneath the streets of Hawthorne to work out the kinks he may have on his hyperloop that appears is undergoing testing and I guess they'll be giving rides next month in anticipation of having a preliminary run from Pico/Sepulveda to a station near the Hawthorne Airport. I'll mention again being that Santa Monica is winding down service to their airport the HA Airport will be the closest field to the burgeoning Silicone beach sector on the westside of LA. I think given time this region will be a major force in innovative technology

Tesla generated a crazy amount of news in 2018, but most of it was noise — here's the most important single takeaway from the entire year

So can we chuck this Elon Musk thing up to he's a Quirky Genius having those episodes Quirky geniuses have sometimes?

At Peace.
I like Elon Musk... somehow his shenanigans help him turn out smelling like a Rose.

If that is because he was still making all the right moves, then he really is a genius.

If it was because all the good people around him made things successful, despite his antics, then he surrounded himself with the right people.

Actually the tunnel that's near finished pretty much runs under 120th St. and as of a month ago they were ready to give test rides on , starting next month.

The one the story refers to was never started... just talked about... and was the original pet project of Elons as he was driving to work in Hawthorne from his home, Bel Air. The traffic on 405 in the mornings is soul crushing and Elon was just being Elon in trying to get past it.

Elon Musk’s Tunnel Project in Los Angeles is Bad Joke

"...Musk said the tunnel would carry “pods” with 16-20 people. But reporters arrived to find out plans have apparently changed from a public transit system to a private system for rich drivers....."

And this is news? I expected that all along. Unfortunately if Musk wants to see any kind of public funding for this I'm sure he's going to have something for the average Joe, but then I did get the impression that this was more about the oversized drill bit.

Hardly surprising that there was no transportation revolution with this tunnel and a severe diminution of the initial promises made of what it would do. When there were initially announced speeds of 120-150 mph I thought things might be gearing up to have this presented as some sort of fulfilment of the nonsense Hyperloop concept by a bit of PR sleight-of-hand. But even that much more modest goal turns out to be more difficult to achieve than first supposed.

Musk tends to demonstrate that if you throw enough money at something, you might be able to achieve it. Not necessarily profitably or usefully achieve it. Just achieve it. Silicon Valley tech entrepreneurs often seem to think that, because they have had success in making computer software, they know everything there is to know about making everything. But those things which are not directly improved by the advances in semiconductor technology (like computers and software), or battery technology, are much more stubborn in permitting breakthroughs.

Tesla has achieved something that nobody in the auto industry thought was possible

CEO Elon Musk and his company have pulled off a couple feats. First, they've created the first new US car company in decades (the last was American Motors in the mid-1950s). Second, they've defied the received wisdom and conceived a monopoly.

OK, it's not a real monopoly. It's what I would call a micro-monopoly. The market for all-electric vehicles is globally tiny, at only about 1% of total sales (although Tesla, manufacturing hundreds of thousands of EVs, is doing its part to double it to 2%). In the US, Tesla dominates luxury EV sales - so much so that it will be the first to hit a threshold beyond which federal electric-vehicle tax credits start to phase out.

That's impressive, but there's an asterisk. Two, in fact.

First, Musk doesn't want to be in a market of one. He knows Tesla isn't big enough to start displacing internal-combustion engines and slow the pace of global warming. So he wants other automakers to follow Tesla's example.

Second, there isn't any meaningful competition in the EV industry. True, other companies have begun to design, build, and sell Tesla alternatives. But they aren't expecting to sell very many. The value of zero-emission vehicles for them is that they assist in meeting stringent government standards across automaker fleets, enabling legacy carmakers to continue building large and profitable pickup trucks and SUVs.

The bottom line is that nobody cares if Tesla has a monopoly. And nobody will. History is on their side, after all. Monopolies are stunningly difficult to develop in the auto industry, and even if you can manage one, you end up losing so much money of cheap small cars that it's practically impossible to exercise any hard-wrought monopoly pricing power.

Tesla, of course, is exercising pricing power with its mini-monopoly. It can charge a pretty penny for its sexy all-electric cars because they're both Teslas - the brand has mega-cachet - and because customers who have demanded its cars are willing to pay up. Years of easy credit have also helped.

Even if Tesla were incredibly successful, thereby expanding its micro-monopoly, it still probably wouldn't encounter calls to break it up or curtail its ambitions. In 2018, around 17 million cars and trucks will be sold in the US. Tesla would need dozens of factories to take over. Currently, it has one plant. Building new ones or even assuming ownership of existing ones would consume years and cost billions.

Besides all that, it's unclear that anyone would want to seriously compete with Tesla's growing micro-monopoly. The assumption is that as enthusiasm for EVs evolves, there will be plenty of time for experienced, established automakers to jump into the market, given how staggeringly expensive it is to be an automaker in the first place.

For what it's worth, that is the reason why Tesla is the first to emerge since the 1950s. It's a tough business, and it isn't going to get any easier.
