I also really need an experienced powder coating technician...

Me too. Not satisfied with the rattle can job on my suspension components but this is maintenance, not restoration and thankfully it's all underneath and the car sits very low to the ground anyway. Wanna drive it not admire it's guts.

The employment game is no fun for the people on both sides of the table. I have the luxury of not having to take the first thing that comes along, and have already put 32 years in my field. Ten years from actual retirement so I want to do something gainful but not get back on the roller coaster. What I absolutely won't do is go back to all the driving and a power commute, and I want no part of the NY Metro area. You can't spend the $$ if the job kills you first and frankly, since July 2017 I've lost two long time friends because (in my opinion) the job did kill them. Stress. They didn't take care of themselves at all and it caught up to them at 56 and 57. In fact, I see another one the same age warming up in the chute and I am very concerned about him. Like too many of us you get addicted to the job, the pace and all that to the exclusion of all else. I got RIF'd because the company is swirling around the porcelain. I saw it coming a long way off and had many years to prepare for it - and did. In the end it may have saved my life or prevented some hellish medical problem. I miss it at many levels - but after I've had time to really think about it - don't. The job I interviewed for yesterday caught my interest and sounded pretty cool but I have doubts that my skillset is the best fit. They're looking for an odd mix though so I honestly can't get a read on this one. If I get it I'll be pleasantly surprised and slightly terrified at first. If I don't I'll just be chagrined and go back to what I've been doing, which ain't all that much.

Tonight my dog gets my evening, with all the extra work I've been doing lately he feels neglected a little, he let me know this morning how he's feeling and I assured him that tonight he has my full undivided attention...

going to be a long day. meeting with a client. Seems that they have 3 still on payroll that are no longer with them and they are getting money.. Jose and Bridget (my boss and a coworker.)found other payroll problems. if this is a accident we just saved them a ton of money . if this is deliberate..fraud.

And now a text message from the high school. seems that my twins have gotten a case of potty mouth from hanging out with roller derby girls.
What is acceptable in the 4 color world of Derby is not acceptable in high school. Nor is it acceptable in our home. .

Been working on rebuilding the front end of the old 'vette and listening to several podcasts. Radio Misterioso, Mission Log, In Their Own Words, Dan Snow's History Hit, The Unexplained, MonsterTalk and Last Podcast on the Left. Best to have one that's at least an hour long so I don't have to poke at my phone with greasy hands.

Only did the passenger side so far - learning curve plus good to have an untouched example on the other side for comparison. Got everything cleaned and painted. Was worried about the BF coil spring. Taking the old one with a spring compressor wasn't too hard but I did wrap several loops of a thick come-along strap around it and the frame and sure enough, even with the steering knuckle off and the lower control arm shoved all the way down it came out with a booiiing. Good thing for the strap. Good news is reassembly wasn't that hard, it just took time because I am being methodical and careful. Seems that Eaton Springs in Detroit made the original years ago .... and I think made the new replacement repackaged as Moog. Not sure but there's only so many people making them. The new one was several inches shorter but has the same 474lb rating. I strapped it up and used the coil compressor from the top down to hold it up in the frame pocket and a hydraulic floor jack to gently raise the lower control arm.Popped into the lower pocket in with a little gentle pressure from my gloved hands and it all went very easily and nicely after that.

Two things. Yes, I probably should post this on the Corvette forum I belong to but in general they are a cranky bunch of old f*****s who would have told me how wrong I was before they read the third word of my post. Clearly I should have mined the ore and forged the steel myself, or taken it to an incredibly expensive shop so it could be aligned on the Plains of Nazca (like in Nazcar ??). Yeah, I do surf there and participate occasionally -a few cool people but they are exceptions. The majority spend more time typing than driving or turning wrenches. It's an old Chevy, a cool one but not a Sacred Object or particularly collectible. It doesn't know it's 2019 and if I could ask it would probably thank me for the attention, yummy grease, paint and new parts. Just wanted to vent a little - my wife doesn't care about all this just wants to cruise. I'll rip apart the driver's side presently. Only difference is I have to rebuild the leaky power steering control valve and piston. Ain't the Space Shuttle.

Second point, she's away today and my dog is bored. Too nice of a day for either or both of us to sit around inside - so we'll go stretch our legs and she can crap up the neighborhood to her heart's content. I will bag ......

Down the road from me is some storage units, and one day last year i seen a guy backing up a 56 ragtop vette that was on a trailer, into a unit. man it looked all original and like he it had been in a barn all of its life mostly unharmed except for dirt. Glad it was saved...

Cool. I can't speak for C1s but with C3s you have to be really careful about 'barn finds.' The passenger compartment and windshield frame are a steel 'birdcage' that is prone to rot and it can be really hard to tell, especially if it looks nice outside. Sometimes not. We drove into Pennsylvania to look at one and I could see it from 20' away as soon as the guy opened the door. Nothing like a two hour drive and then a two second inspection to tell me I had to pass.
But, I looked an a nice '70 Lt1 that was still sitting on it's factory bias ply tires. The guy died and the car sat with 13K mikes on it. Motor was seized but the thing was in beautiful shape. Unfortunately it was yellow and the wanted $42K for it. Aaaaaaaack.

T.B.S. has been in business since 2004. Our company has a reputation for honest payroll and taxes for many business in Madison. the last few days have been an abnormal. and so we had to fall back on policy. we referred to out legal team. then our recommendation to the board.
The account is is suspended and referred to legal. once legal verification is done the authorities will be notified.
We talked about it and it is the right thing to do. Seems they have some bad apples.

as boys wrestling ends so does B squad cheerleading. For debbie being a part of both roller derby and cheerleading has made her less introverted. Kate has a circle of friends from middle school. and it has grown. her pet name of sabrina is no longer a source of anger. Debbie came into M.H.S with few friends. but the time with cheerleading brought her friends.
for the "nerd cheerleader " a year of growth.

I have learnt some great lessons of late.

Power has been given to the people in name only and is actually worthless when things go the wire. I have spent my time with a false sense of security. Thinking we the people are the ones who change things when in fact we are only at the wheel with permission and when entering uncharted waters the wheel is taken back like a parent would over a child.

I trust my govoners still but now see that this freedom of people and power is on a trust based loan agreement. Never did I think I would see the day in modern day Britain where the people would be listened to but not heard.

This is a democracy that casts a shadow of rose tinted dictatorship that only a mother could procure.

I know such a freedom is what we feel to be our true path and giving it to the people is what times have demanded but it only goes so deep and is not backed by law.

Sorry if this is under the wrong banner but my pipe was lit and I already had my slippers on.

the twins were excited to learn the mad calves are not done for the year!
They have a mini bout (15 min )
at utter chaos!
this was met with shouts of
"I'm going to kick your...'
and..
"I got some bruises with your name on them."
this continued until I told them
"settle this on the track girls!"
lol Derby has been a great thing for them. but I can do without the potty mouth

Debbie's Dinner went well Brian's folks like her. They invited her to come to church with the family. she accepted.
On the way back she told us that Brian said not to pay a lot of attention to what they say at church. That God is in your heart. .. I see a lot of respect for her from him..
