Here is the kicker - the actual list of stars near us.

Flare stars, red dwarfs, brown dwarfs, etc. etc.
Over half are flare stars. Periodic scrubbing of any planets is bad.
There are two things to note:
1. There are pitifully few stars that are viable.
2. There are many fewer planets in the nearby star systems. Earth has more planets than all 11 stars (actually 14 since there are a couple of binaries counted as one star) within 10 LY.
Stars within ten light years (spitting distance) should be adequately cataloged.
