Michio Kaku: How your immortal consciousness will travel the universe

Truthiness
You know, For a long time now, I've theorized about an afterlife, I've rationalized that since consciousness is a byproduct of energy than the idea of consciousness just ceasing to exist doesn't really make sense. It seems Michio Kakus take on immortality makes mu humble opinion look contemporary in comparison, In this Short Video, Kaku States, Sometimes, Some parents will say, They believe their Teenage children are brain-damaged because of the way they act, It's True asserts Kaku, A Teenagers Mind isn't fully developed yet, With technology, We can observe This we can quantify this, Michio goes on to say, We have learned so much about the ways the human brain functions through these observations That He believes someday, We will be able to upload our consciousness to Machines, We could have Breakfast in Tokyo, Dinner on the moon, or even in another galaxy, Kaku asserts, That this is the future that awaits us.

....

My thoughts:

To me, it all sounds great on paper but something about this bothers me.
So you upload your consciousness to a machine, They look at your brain and make this Consciousness of you in the machine, For all intents and purposes it's you, But how do they Transfer your consciousness to that machine? In short, they can't, Thay can't take what is you, away from your brain and put it somewhere else, you won't escape death, That thing in the machine is just a digital image of you, Nothing but an artificially intelligent MRI. A ghost or Shadow, even at it's best. No, We will still Age, We will still feel pain, We will still Die.

The Question becomes more Ethical, We Will Die, There is no escaping, We were not asked to be brought into existence, We will not be asked to leave it. The Question you should really be thinking about is, What does Death mean to you? Do you want a Machine Imagine clone of your consciousness living in a machine? Do You Risk the possibility if your own secrets not going to the grave with you? or worse, The possibility of your machine consciousness clone Not able to restrain it's own filters and presets, not able to articulate your knowledge, of yourself because of some glitch, Imagine this situation, you are long dead, Your Machine consciousness lives on, You meet some people at a bar, you hit it off with one of the ladies there, Small talk time, She tells you what kind of guys she like, and because of a glitch, Your AI consciousness remembers as a kid you liked Zoo animals, So you respond, I like Goats.

Sure, It's a weird example,

But before people consider something like uploading their mind, They should Question, What could go wrong, Or, As a program on your machine, What kind of rights would I have? will I be considered the property of someone or some corporation? How would I be Treated? How Would I be punished? If I broke a law? One needs to ponder these kinds of Questions Because they will be important to know within our lifetimes.

So, In your lifetime, you will have the option, full knowing that who and what you are will still pass on, Will you Upload your consciousness? So some version of you can live on? I don't think I would. I'm not a perfect person, There are things about me that frankly, I want to die with me...

Consciousness doesn't exist. Whole thing was invented "just to sell nylons".

What we call consciousness is just a synergy, something new that is more than a sum of the parts. Exactly the same as a car or bicycle, but few million times higher level. Whole idea of consciousness was invented by some brilliant but bored people, to attract attention of members of the opposite sex.

One can create apparent consciousness in any interactive medium. Like a computer chip or a nation of people. It all depends just on number of networked nodes and speed of interaction.

For example, human brain is fiziologically exactly the same as chip's, but twice as large. So synergy is on higher level and we can do much more.

That's a very primitive view and description of something that is hardly primitive at all...

Exactly, that principle works so well because it is primitive. Primitive principles are robust and work forever. The whole AI rose from few assumptions that one can call primitive and look how far it got.

What we have here is confusion of cause and outcome. Everybody is looking at consciousness and saying look at how complex we are, but the underlying rules can be very simple. Underlying principle would be simple, but outcome is mega complex. And it is these simple rules that are the essence, not the outcome which is nothing but a glitter that is duzling us. It is well known situation in mathematics. For example, let's say fothball, it is based on few simple rules, but the game itself is so complex it is impossible to rationally analyse. Or DNA, it has just 4 letters, but look at how far it got. Synergy is extremely powerful thing.

Consciousness would fall apart very quickly if it wasn't based on rules that are primitive and robust.

It's enough to make a man nostalgic, for a simpler time. now you gotta take'em to dinner first, and maybe a movie too...

Whoa! I just decided that the transporter wasn't actually killing and recreating Captain Kirk every time .... and now this?
Hoo boy.

I can't help but think that no matter how detailed a picture of something is it's really only a depiction. At best a superb recreation and lacking the complete substance of the source.

The recent Westworld reboot took a look at transference of consciousness into a machine and it's disturbing.

Some are willing to say that the sheer volume of UFO reports indicates that there is a real phenomenon at work behind it all. I won't really argue with that and would apply it to the survival of consciousness beyond death. Lots and lots of near death experiences, past life recollections and so forth to dive in to.

Near death experience is most likely just a hallucination. Recently scientists took 5 brains from pigs that were slothered 4 hours prior and still found activitiey in them. Phenomenon is under study now.

Previous life dreams are just that, dreams.

That sounds like knee jerk debunking to me, but I get your point.

This was an interesting article.

The Science of Near-Death Experiences

Haven't drilled through this website in a few years. Looks like they've improved it.
