Conspiracy to hide differing opinions

I'm a huge fan of conspiracy theories, and I love to research conspiracy theories. The problem is that I've noticed that it's becoming more and more difficult to FIND those theories, even to find sites I'd visited long ago that had alternatives to mainstream opinions. I can't find them in the search engines.

Then it hit me: during the last couple of years, I'd noticed information going around about how google and Facebook were planning to take action to cut down on hoaxes and "fake news" and were developing algorithms that would filter fake news sites and hoax sites and so on that were spreading hoaxes.

And I started to wonder: was this so-called effort to reduce misinformation just a cover to remove any opinions outside the mainstream?

Is the REAL reason that I can no longer find conspiracy information on certain topics because there really IS a conspiracy: a conspiracy to hide any ideas that differ from what the-powers-that-be want us to know?

What do you think?

An effort to stifle discussion outside the main stream controls, basically a conspiracy to cover up conspiracies, in a way this would be the mother of all conspiracies if true...

I've noticed this in a number of topics, including climate change, current events etc. Many of the best alternative sites aren't showing up in my google searches. Instead, I have to sift through pages and pages and pages of:
1. mainstream views from accepted mainstream sources
2. sites that belittle and ridicule any alternative view
3. alternative views, but only in the most ridiculously over-the-top, hysterical extreme, to the point that it seems like it's only there as a strawman attack on any view other than the accepted mainstream view.

I'm really serious on this one. I think google is filtering out non-mainstream sources as "fake news sites", or at the very least, pushing them so far down on the list that you have to search hard to find it, that you're first faced with an overwhelming number of sources all quoting the each other.

Isn't this what China does to its people, internet censoring by sorting out all things that they deem unacceptable to their ideology, keeping information away from their people?...

Facebook locked down a selfie my oldest took holding a "Teens for Trump" sign. her sister posted a pic of her wearing a MAGA hat.
this pic also was locked down by Facebook "offensive content"

A few days ago I was looking up information about climate change and many of the references to an ice age in the near future are gone or so far back in the search results it would take hours and hours to sort through...This is also an unpopular notion that's disregarded quickly in some circles, so maybe Google and Bing are seeing these theories as misinformation or something?...
