A dispensary opened locally and just for the hell of it we went it and checked it out. Expensive. I gather nobody just smokes the stuff anymore, instead there's a profusion of even more expensive gadgets. I wonder how the vaping bans will affect them (if it does)

WE GOT THE CONTRACT! All were impressed by Jose and my presentation! A good lunch sealed the deal. my boss is a happy camper not to mention the higher ups.

Went to McDonald’s last night for the first time in many years. Very high tech and futuristic. Tasty. But how people actually eat that garbage regularly is beyond me.

Only one thing missing for me from the experience. The antidote

10-0 memorial high school girls basketball is on a roll. in 10 games Kate earned 2 starts.
But she talks sadly about her sister and how she blew a chance at love.
And we got the sign up and insurance release for the south side slugger's.

I'm not that old and remember the gaffe when George Bush 41 had a grocery checkout scanner explained to him.
There was some noise when self checkouts appeared about job displacement but that has long subsided. Now I avoid stores that don't have them.

Enter the kiosk. McD's and others want to eliminate overhead and that gadget they led me to will replace a couple of kids at the front counter.

"Listen. And understand. That [flat panel dirty touch screen thing] is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. [it can't be threatened and the video of a wild melee posted to You Tube] It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear [or need a break or to be paid] And it absolutely will not stop, [or call in sick] ever, until you are dead. [from fat and cholesterol] "

Not exactly related to automation, but they banned plastic bags here in NY. The first consequence was expected: retail checkouts have turned ugly. In some places the mood felt like they were scrambling for the last chopper out of Saigon. That'll fade once the newness wears off. The other consequence, well, crap. There were any number of people with problems who bagged and loaded groceries, etc that no longer have a job. Some will be retained but many more won't.

I had the same problem and found out I can still view the site in private mode without any changes to my adblocking...

Spending the afternoon tomorrow with a good friend who's coming to visit, really looking forward to seeing him again...He looks more like a brother to me in appearance than my real brothers lol...Today though is also a relaxing day for me, no work planned, although I have work I could do at home, I think it best to keep work out of this weekend...Later today we have some severe thunderstorms forecast...

65 degrees today for the second day in a row. We're headed to our absolute favorite spot:
Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site (U.S. National Park Service)
Many miles of hiking trails and our dog can't wait to get up there and crap the joint up!

I grew up right next door to this place and can lead you over every square inch of it. If I'm ever coming back to haunt something this'll be the place. I'd like to believe that but more likely I'll be sent back to an equipment room in the basement of an old hospital or office building to toil for eternity on some service call ......

109-29.. Memorial Girls basketball is 11-0
Kate had a breakout game!
11 points 4 rebounds and 12 assists.
Most going to her friend Mia who had 38 points.
and Debbie got loudest cheer!

Had an awesome afternoon and evening yesterday, it made my weekend the best and really set the tempo for the week, which I'm at work now, I've been here since 5 am this morning...I have a meeting with someone after work today about 5 pm which should be some more great news once that meeting is over...

Had quite an interesting day today, I began work early at 5 am, then left about 1230 pm to see a doctor to check my leg, they performed a biopsy to get a thorough exam, it's looking and feeling great again...Then went out from there further into the city with a friend who drove me there and we had an amazing conversation while we were hanging out stopping at a couoke places, and on a level we've had before but its been rare lately...That was one of the most enjoyable evenings I've had in the city for some time, the connection we had for those three hours really had an effect on me that's difficult to put into words...The meeting I mentioned yesterday was postponed until tomorrow...It's outcome is going to be in my favour, I have no doubt about it...

last 2 days were very hard at work.
the new contract has a mess of a HR.
No shrink or bottom line management.
No wonder they came to us.
This will take a month but we will get them where they hired us to go.
meanwhile Memorial high school girls basketball wins again to go to 12-0 Kate is still averaging 10 points but her 15 assists to Mia her friend earns her a lot of teamwork points

I was in a car accident yesterday evening after work, my car was in the repair shop having work done on the fuel injection so I was riding to work with a friend...We are both okay but his car is totaled, rolled it twice off the road and all the air bags went off...He swerved a little to miss a car turning onto the road and it was sticking out past the yellow lines a little and hit soft ground beside the pavement because of all the rain we had and it pulled the car off the road and into a ravine...I'm at work now, my shoulder is slightly sore but otherwise we both were fortunate, it could have been worse...
