Deadly Wuhan Coronavirus

Last night was my last night at work for a while. Apparently they are only limiting their hours, not closing it. I saw two dozen mostly young people doing about every single thing we've been told not to do. A couple of people around my age double-fisting chips and salsa in their faces right out on about the nastiest public spot you possibly pick. One of which couldn't stop coughing. WTF does it take for anyone to get the message?

Maybe if this thing wipes out enough of us oldsters the burden on Social Security will be alleviated.

This is me backing slowly toward the door quietly leaving a trail of disinfectant soap bubbles.

It illustrates the selfish attitude of the young, Only thinking of themselves. I've seen this on the news as well,

millennials ignoring coronavirus warnings

because they feel the Virus is something that will only affect them mildly and they tend to disregard what spreading it to an older person could do to that individual. It's nothing but self-centeredness. While not all millennials are like this. I tend to believe true genuine thoughtfulness and care for others around one's self is something people learn when they are older, After many hard-earned lessons.

I personally forgive the Youth of their follies, THey still have much to learn, This doesn't change that they are putting others at risk though.

Trump Closes Northen Border Amid Cronovirus spread fears.

I mean, Canada and the U.S are notorious for how close we are. It's bad when the northern border gets shut down.

When my aunt had strokes and we started to take care of her we realized one of the important truths about old ladies: the Hair Helmet. She had been going to the same beauty parlor for decades and it tuned out that getting her hair done was The Prime Directive.

If you saw the hairdo you'd know why I call it the Hair Helmet. With all that spray it could probably stop shrapnel better than a stahlhelm. Even in the nursing home we paid for it to get done in house, although at that point I started referring to it as The George Washington. Visual gag.

Just heard all sorts of lunacy from my 90 year old mother-in-law. Her beauty parlor closed due to corona virus and she ain't gonna get no Hair Helmet.

Jesus, take me now. Please.

wasn't Trudeau calling that racism or xenophobia not that long ago?
People use hate words like weapons in this modern age. So much so, It's considered racist to simply identify someone as their own nationality,

It's not really racism, To shut the Canadian border because umm Canadian isn't a race That just prooves how far society has let its intellect slip. In Southpark the cartoon, Maybe Canadian is a race lol, Trudeau is a moron barely out of diapers.

People use that powerful word, "Racism" To control others. We can't talk about how it's Chinas fault that the Coronavirus is killing people, Even though it is, Because of their wet markets breeding and spreading disease because it's "Racist" however, it is literally" Fascist to label someone as racist in an attempt to silence them. It's a lose-lose situation and only those who are fearless enough to speak their minds can be heard in these times. Don't fear what others may think of what you said, Rather, Say what you think And be heard, . there will always be someone there to silence you. But fuck those people.

Hair helmet commentary would ordinarily have gone in The Lounge but I'm trying to isolate that thread from the virus ......

Coronavirus: Italy and France have highest daily deaths from COVID-19

Italy and France have had their highest number of deaths from coronavirus in a day, with 475 and 89 more fatalities respectively. The Italy deaths - an increase of 19% in the last 24 hours - bring the country's total to 2,978.

Italy also had a large rise in coronavirus cases, with 4,207 confirmed on Wednesday, bringing the total to 35,713, the Civil Protection Agency said.

The 89 deaths in France took the total to 264, an increase of almost 51% and much higher than the previous high of 36 deaths, as the country struggled with its second day of a nationwide lockdown.

Confirmed cases in France rose by 1,404 on Wednesday from the day before - an increase of 18% - bringing the total to 9,134. Health agency director Jerome Salomon said 931 people were in serious condition, needing life support.

China sent medical supplies to France on Wednesday, returning a favour done by the French weeks ago.

Billionaire Bill Ackman says 'America will end as we know it' unless Trump shuts entire country down NOW for 30 days - rather than 'a gradual roll-out that is scaring people and bankrupting the economy, starting with hotels and restaurants'

Bill Ackman (left) made the dismal predictions Wednesday that 'hell is coming' and warned that 'America will end as we know it'. He urged President Trump and other global leaders to 'shut the world for 30 days' to stop the spread of coronavirus, saying it is the 'only answer' to save lives. The activist investor Ackman also spoke of the toll the pandemic is taking on the economy, in particular citing that the hospitality industry will not recover if the response to the virus continues on its current trajectory. 'The hotel industry and the restaurant industry will go bankrupt first, Boeing is on the brink, Boeing will not survive without a government bailout,' Ackman told CNBC. 'Capitalism does not work in an 18-month shutdown, capitalism can work in a 30-day shutdown.' He added: 'Take a look at Hilton stock – Hilton is the canary in the coal mine,' he said. Shares in Hilton Hotels were 'down from 120 to 50 and it's going to zero along with every other hotel company', he warned.

Navy dispatches two hospital ships - Comfort and Mercy - to New York City and along the West Coast to ease strain on medical facilities for non-coronavirus patients

Two Navy ships - the USNS Comfort and the USNS Mercy - are being turned into huge floating hospitals to help treat the wave of coronavirus patients who will need care when hospitals become overwhelmed but they won't be ready for weeks as military medical staff are scrambled to fill them.

The ships provide 1,000 beds each but it is unclear whether they will bring other crucial supplies, like ventilators and surgical masks. They will both be manned by Navy personnel and will house non-coronavirus patients, leaving the city's hospitals free to take in those who have tested positive for COVID-19.

In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in 2001, the Comfort was dispatched to New York City where it provided medical treatment to some first responders at ground zero. In the week after its arrival, it provided food and shelter to 10,000 relief workers who were tasked with working at the disaster zone.

It is unclear where the Mercy will be docked. President Trump said on Wednesday that he had not yet decided where it will be stationed but it will be somewhere along the West Coast, possibly San Diego.

Worldwide coronavirus infection toll hits 200,000 after doubling in less than two weeks

The worldwide infection toll for the killer coronavirus has now topped 200,000 after doubling in less than two weeks.

Cases of the highly contagious virus now exceed 203,000, according to data compiled by the John Hopkins University.

The global toll reached six figures on March 7, more than two months after the outbreak first began in Wuhan, China, in late December.

But another 100,000 people were infected in just 11 days since then, largely due to a surge in cases in Europe, sparking fears the crisis will only continue to get worse.

Avoid taking ibuprofen for COVID-19 symptoms: WHO

The World Health Organization recommended Tuesday that people suffering COVID-19 symptoms avoid taking ibuprofen, after French officials warned that anti-inflammatory drugs could worsen effects of the virus.

The warning by French Health Minister Olivier Veran followed a recent study in The Lancet medical journal that hypothesised that an enzyme boosted by anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen could facilitate and worsen COVID-19 infections.

Asked about the study, WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva the UN health agency's experts were "looking into this to give further guidance."

"In the meantime, we recommend using rather paracetamol, and do not use ibuprofen as a self-medication. That's important," he said.

He added that if ibuprofen had been "prescribed by the healthcare professionals, then, of course, that's up to them."

His comments came after Veran sent a tweet cautioning that the use of ibuprofen and similar anti-inflammatory drugs could be "an aggravating factor" in COVID-19 infections.

"In the case of fever, take paracetamol," he wrote.

The French minister stressed that patients already being treated with anti-inflammatory drugs should ask advice from their doctor.

Paracetamol must be taken strictly according to the recommended dose, because too much of it can damage the liver.

I only go to work and home for the most part now, I have plenty of food to last a couple weeks or more if I ration, today I am picking my car up from the repair shop and getting more dog food for my dog, if the country gets shut down I'm not going out anywhere again for at least two weeks...

1600 dollars later I got my car back from the repair shop, I then went to the local grocery store and it was pillaged and plundered, but still with a bunch of people in there picking the bones clean...Went to Walmart after that and it was in similar dire straits, the grocery side of Walmart a gutted carcass with a mass of people picking the bones clean wearing latex gloves and hospital masks...The non-food side of Walmart was all but empty of people, I got all the dog food I needed and headed out of that place...Took my dog Kobi on a hike in the woods after I got home, the forest around here is so peaceful and quiet today which I could easily get used to if this pandemic turns into an apocalypse...
