These old C3s have major heat issues. Not overheating but transferring all that engine heat into the passenger compartment.
I remember my 71 442 ran hot tried to keep it about 185 most the time. I had to relocate the brake proportioning valve and lines cause the headers, it was boiling the brake fluid.

Yeah, my Chevelle was hot as hell too under the hood but the plastic fantastic bleeds a ridiculous amount of heat into the passenger compartment. I think that's done and hope it doesn't all come apart on me. It just might. Right now I'm repairing and re-wrapping the wiring harness in the engine compartment. Editing a lot of stupid out of it. I have the 1969 service manual and know how to read a schematic. Imagine that. To some that's a mystical superpower - definitely to whoever had their thumbs in this thing.

My dad taught me how to read schematics, if fact he had me rewire a my first car 66 vw bug that i bought for $50, I converted it from 6 volt to 12 volt , i put a 1973 type 3 pancake motor in it with headers and a cam, i also turned it into a baja, but doing that has helped me throughout the years, the rewiring part cause over the years some of the chevy trucks i have had was bad, being that i replaced every wire on the damn thing except for the one going over for the heater core it was a 73 chevy Cheyenne super w/454 it was a real gas hog. I had to use a service manual for the 442 i had , come to find out it had 2 power cables going to the starter, one for extra juice coming through something else i forget how, but it made a helle difference on the 445 big block in the winter. now my tremors are so bad i cant hardly put a screwdriver on a screw

I hear you. I broke my right hand badly years ago and it doesn't work properly. My hands are too damned big to fit into anything even without any of that. I have honed my profane invective to the point where I think I may have created an entirely new language.

Buster seems to sense our fear and stress. I never known him to be so loving.
